  1. Right off the bat what can I expect as far as performance improvements?

Performance is better than the demo in some cases, but the demo was missing a ton of textures and models that the full game has. The demo also didn't have Lagnogorsk...uh I mean Chernogorsk. Patch 1.0.4 is going to have performance improvements.

Edit: Also how realistic are the flight controls and physics, I'm a VERY long time MS Flight Simulator user and real pilot and I'm curious what I'll expect, thanks.

It's not even close to Flight Simulator, flying feels more like an action game. I think flying planes in ArmA 2 kind of sucks because of the low view distance but helicopters are a lot of fun.

  2. Do you mean show the physical gun? If you walk slowly it will stay there.

If you mean the ammo counter thing then there is probably a way but I don't know it.

You can see your ammo when you press F, it will bring up the menu. The firing mode only changes if you press F again while the menu is showing.

  3. Put object detail on normal for the best performance and visuals. Anything below normal makes it so units are only visible at a short distance, anything above normal is worthless in terms of gameplay and brings down performance. Also put shadows on high, in my experience you don't lose any FPS from normal to high, but very high will take off a ton and the shadows don't even look better.

  4. I don't like the fact that i have to use an .exe file to install this mod. I'am against these kinda installations, i prefer to do it.

Can we have a .rar or .7zip file as an alternative please?

I felt the same way but you can drag the addons folder out of the installed directory and put it in your ArmA 2 directory.

  5. When playing in third person view I noticed a couple weapons are missing animations. What makes it strange is other versions of the same weapon have the animation. For example if you fire the AK-107 in third person mode you can see the bolt going in and out, but if you use the same gun with grenade launcher or PSO scope the bolt isn't there. It also doesn't show up in first person for some reason. I also noticed on one of the M4s or M16s that the ejection port doesn't move.

I'm not complaining and I know this is a non-issue but I just thought it was strange.

  6. Hm weapons fired in full automatic give me a bad cracking sound when the sound disappears. It like RATATAT...tatat.... tat...ta....CRACKING SOUND.

Is it a known bug you already talked about ?

Argh, noticed it now in Vanilla ArmA2, too. Is it known bug ? plz tell me x/

    greetz

since patch 1.03 is out this soundmod has not that great sound before , will there be an update ?

I had the same problem, turn the sound options to 50% or a little lower and it will be fixed.

  7. I think you're a bit confused on how quad cores work. Refer to here. I don't feel like re-explaining it.

Thanks that was interesting. I was thinking of upgrading to a quad since everyone says this game is so CPU demanding (right now I have a 3.2 ghz dual core) but I'll hold off on it. I guess the only game that really needs a quad core to run perfectly is GTA IV.

  8. Rather than TKing the most annoying thing people have been doing lately is shooting for leg wounds, forcing their team mates to crawl around. Some guy did it to me last night when we were near the objective and I know it wasn't an accident because I turned around and he was like twenty feet away aiming at me.

  9. First you'll need ATI Tray Tools, the version I use is 1.6.9.1391 but I don't know if a newer one is out. Once it's installed right-click the taskbar icon and go to Game Profiles > Manage Profiles. Name it ArmA 2 or whatever you want, in the executable box go to your install directory and choose arma2.exe. Now click the Direct3D Tweaks tab and where it says "Force VSync (Vista workaround) choose "off". Now save the profile and when you want to launch the game do it from ATI Tray Tools' game profile manager. Vsync should now be forced off, I know it works in single player and the editor but I haven't tested multiplayer yet to see if it gets rid of the 30 fps limit some people have (including me).
