It depends on your motherboard I guess, mine doesn't have an option to change anything called payload. Btw I think videomem=very high and textures=high are only for 1 gig cards, I tried on my 512 4850 and it caused worse performance and texture flickering.

11. Flashlights, FLIR Scopes
Those are coming in Operation Arrowhead according to the Q&A topic.

Are you sure you're playing on the same servers? I don't know why performance would be worse when all they did was change the way it connects to Gamespy. Maybe they changed something with the forced settings. I hate when servers force grass on along with a huge view distance.
-
I don't think voice acting will ever be changed (maybe in a mod) but yeah it's annoying when your guy says "fuck that hurts" with a eastern European accent and gay lisp.

Patch 1.04 is supposed to bring 1) mouse lag fixes and 2) performance improvements.I've never had problems with the mouse, but it seems they have done a lot of work in that area which is good for those who had problems.
But after playing for a few hours today with the latest patch (and few hours on previous patches) I have to say that the performance has not improved much.
Yapa
I don't think they've worked on performance yet, nothing in the changelog says so.

randir14 what setViewDistance value do you use?no worries Kremator. Tomorrow finally the signed version.
viewDistance=2014.9282; if I raise it higher the vehicles come into view but the pop-in is still closer than it was before. I can see trees and buildings at the max distance but not vehicles or people. For example in my first screenshots I used to be able to see units at the top of the hill, now they're disappearing at the end of the runway.
-
Oh yeah I must have been thinking 3000 from the view distance mod. Well either way it's still cutting off at 940 meters. Here's two more screens from Chernarus just so we know it's not only an Utes problem.

If you get a quad core GTA IV will run fine. ArmA 2 won't though.

I'm glad it's not just me. This should be a high priority issue because enemy vehicles are engaging at close range when you cant even see them.
-
I don't think it's possible to take cover from large explosions, the area of effect seems to ignore everything around it. Smaller explosions are different, I did some tests with M203 grenades and effective cover was anything thicker than a concrete wall. The Hesco Barriers worked well, I don't know if they'd stop a missile or tank shell though.

I don't play the campaign so I can't help you there. The game still has bugs and performance problems but it's a lot better than it used to be, the AI no longer stands around like idiots (most of the time). I don't know what that reviewer is talking about when he says everything is indestructible because the opposite is true. Nearly everything in the game can be destroyed. You can even smash down trees if you're in a big enough vehicle.
-
If I remember correctly vehicles used to appear at 3000 meters. Now they're only appearing below 940 meters as you can see here (yes I have object detail on very high):

I've tested this with all different types of vehicles and it's the same. I don't know if it applies to only vehicles or every object, someone else can test that if they want to.

Well I mean I just don't understand how it works. I tried asking people in the server and nobody replied. I tried playing a cop and I didn't even have a gun and couldn't drive police cars, then some dude ran up and shot me.
-
I've joined those servers a few times and I don't understand why they're so popular. Can someone explain to me what the point is? From what I can tell the police have to go around enforcing the law, but playing as a civilian I couldn't figure out how to break the law.

The 360 and PS3 don't use Gamespy as far as I know.

I have a problem that sounds similar to yours, but it only started happening with the beta builds. When I play online it will sometimes randomly slow down a ton then clear up by itself. Nothing I can see triggers it, it can happen in big fights or it can happen in total peace when I'm in the woods by myself.
-
It's your CPU, this game demolishes the CPU like no other (except maybe GTA IV). I've even seen people with i7's who have bad performance. The only ones who can fix this are BIS.
-
The AI is hit or miss but it seems to be getting better with each patch. Today after installing the newest beta build I noticed my squad automatically took position to cover all sides, I was surprised because they used to stand around like morons.
-
I get worse FPS in this build. In the last build I would get around 40-45 FPS in Stary Sobor in the editor, now I only get 30-35. In Chernogorsk I would get 30-35, now I get 25-30.
-
I saw ArmA 1 videos where the same thing happens so I doubt they're going to fix it.
-
I don't think it matters, I'm able to join any server in the world. The only thing you'd have to worry about is bad ping. I've actually played online and seen people with different language versions because their text and voices aren't in English. For example if they say "man 100 meters to our west" it would show up in Cyrillic accompanied by a Russian voice.
-
I just checked and I'm having the same problem, and every server I usually play on isn't listed (SPARTA, 15th MEU, etc...) Could it have something to do with servers using the beta patch? I'm using the regular 1.03 patch.
-
The problem is since patch 1.03 they bounce like rubber balls.

Last night I was on the Russian team and we were in a stalemate defending our most forward town while the American team would try hiding in a treeline on the other side of the valley. I walked up to some wooded hills to the west and started hearing the sound of a .50 caliber sniper rifle so I knew an enemy had snuck over and was sniping us from nearby. I kept making my way towards the sound, feeling nervous because the server had grass forced on. Suddenly I saw movement right next to me as a .50 caliber rifle swung my way. I opened up on the guy full auto and luckily killed him before he got me.
