There was a performance hit awhile ago but I haven't noticed it lately, I don't know if the ACE team fixed it or if patch 1.05 had something to do with it. You shouldn't notice any worse performance than regular ArmA 2. Maybe a little more stuttering since so many new objects and stuff are introduced to the game. -

It adds new weapons, sounds, vehicles, soldiers. More realistic damage systems (for example an AT weapon can now wound or kill crew members, high caliber weapons can penetrate walls, etc.), adds a bunch of other features like flashlights, tear gas, the ability to carry around and deploy machine guns, etc. It's ArmA 2 on steroids. I agree with everyone who said to split Post Processing into separate options for bloom, blur, etc. and optimize the trees and bushes. We already have mods that do both of those so it shouldn't be hard to make it into an official patch. Patch 1.05 made performance better when it comes to stuttering and pop-in, now we just need better FPS. If performance improves noticeably I bet more people will buy the game. Also fix the bug where huge fires pop up in multiplayer, it looks stupid and makes the game lag.

Yeah I thought that was funny. I use ACE mod though and they've already removed the Apache from the USMC and gave it to the Army. -
I tried the test version and my results were: 1. When only WarFX test version is activated everything looks fine 2. When WarFX test version and CBA are activated everything looks fine 3. When WarFX test version, CBA and ACE are activated I encountered these bugs: Blocky smoke Fire from rocket exhaust is also blocky

I actually get better FPS with shadows on high than on lower settings, other people have had the same experience. Maybe it depends on the hardware.

People have been saying this for months and I haven't seen a single BIS person acknowledge the problem. Other than AI the main performance killer is the trees, try using Kju's Proper Low Vegetation mod to see the huge FPS boost it gives without any noticeable visual degradation.

Cant connect to many of the servers

If you join a server as a policeman it's probably a Chernarus Life server. Otherwise that error message you're getting means the server is running the ACE mod which you don't have (you can find it here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=91500). I don't think the in-game browser shows what mods a server requires (I could be wrong) but I use Alpinestar's ArmA 2 launcher which shows every mod a server is using. Speaking of the Apache, is the gun dispersion really that bad in real life? I cant hit jack after a certain range, I have to spam it all over the place in order to hit anything. -

This isn't a patch 1.05 problem, the non-bullet proof glass has been in the game since it came out. It's on everything from planes to helicopters, and I agree they should fix it. -
I thought I was imagining this when I went to fly the A-10 and Harrier, but it's good to see it confirmed. The new HUDs are nice and it looks like they even added a bomb trajectory.

For some reason I get terrible performance in certain parts of Eagle Wing, I'm talking FPS in the teens. Other than that I guess performance feels a little better, now BIS should work on making trees not cause such a performance hit.

Haven't really noticed any improvement over 1.04. Maybe a little less pop-in and stuttering but it's hard to tell for sure. -
Uh no, it's a new feature and I was wondering how it worked. I don't play on un-admined servers so I wouldn't get far if I was a cheater.

Patch 1.05 has something called BattleEye anti-cheat, I installed it before realizing it was optional. Does anyone know if this will affect my ability to play on non-BattleEye servers?

3rd person versus Egoshootermode

One of the developer tutorial videos says 3rd person is meant as a substitute for body awareness, since in real life it's easier to know how exposed you are. I'm sure all of us have been sniped in the head because we were in first person mode ducking behind an object and we didn't know our head was sticking out. -

Tactical Gamer is a good one. You need to sign up on their forums to get their teamspeak info and server password but it's worth it. -
Huge slowdown when viewing water

Same thing happens to me, I think it's related to the 3D resolution. On my old monitor I was forced to play at 1280x1024 and the water was smooth. On my newer monitor at 1680x1050 the water gives me low FPS. I've also noticed it's worse if you have anisotropic filtering turned up high. There is a similar problem with certain trees (mainly the red trees and the light-green leafy trees), their performance is ok unless I turn on AA in which case my FPS will drop down to the 20's when I'm near them. -
Yes funny how so many people complain about tree performance but BIS has said nothing about it. It should be easy for them to fix it, just look at Kju's Proper Low Vegetation mod. A barely noticeable visual impact but a large gain in FPS.

Tactical Gamer runs PvP missions sometimes. It's pretty fun since everything is coordinated unlike pure PvP servers that don't even have VOIP enabled.

Tons of things are missing from the demo editor, not to mention all the patches for the full game that have improved AI, performance, etc. They cant use mods with the demo and I doubt anyone is playing the demo online anymore.
