    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

I'm keenly interested to hear what these two items mean. I can't find any evidence of script-based damage handling or HEAT jet modelling. Edit: Flippy, #4 isn't a bug. You're looking at the back-up site, which is zeroed to 100m. Press your optics mode button.

    AI Discussion (dev branch)

I think you guys are overreacting. I use vanilla accuracy settings or somewhat less, and the AI miss moving targets at point blank range all the time.
  3. Blah blah blah blah, more myths, and blah blah blah. So OFP AI was better? Nostalgia is a powerful hallucinogen.

    Blastcore: Phoenix 2

Wait, you actually have bullet impacts? Bullet hits to grass and dirt are invisible beyond a few meters in my game. Up close there's just a few dirt clods kicked up. Do vehicles and small arms use different tracers? My coax and minigun have nice flickery short tracers, while the MG seems vanilla. There is no TV left in Russia that doesn't toe the Kremlin line pretty much exclusively. Actually, they just shut down the last two outlets that had any independent editorial direction. U.S. and Western media is pretty bad, but to compare them with Russia's lie factory is absurd. Okay, so Iraq and Afghanistan were more acceptable from the point of view of international law. But they cost far more innocent lies and did more damage than anything Putin has done, with the exception of the second war in Chechnya. As bad as the conflict in Donbass is, it's still a paradise compared to the hell Iraq is now, all thanks to the invasion. And while Russia never had any single 9/11-like event, there were many terrorist attacks, including a few with victims in the hundreds.

lawl And out come the clowns... Even the most zombified dupe of Putin's propaganda doesn't live as deep in a fantasy world as you do.

And yet Russians often disdain individuals who put their lives and careers at risk to to improve the lives of the collective. Very little activism, charity or volunteerism. If that's collectivism, it's the sort of collectivism where everyone watches out for himself, in the same uniform way. I admire the way Russia collectivism makes people ready to connect to one another and put their family and friends above all other concerns. But the collective society communism built has no positive features. It bred only apathy, cynicism and dependence on the powerful.

Oh good. LifeNews is just warporn anyhow.

Then let's leave aside the issue of independence and discuss bias, journalistic standards and honesty. Because by those measures Russian mass media is objectively atrocious, beyond comparison even with the likes of Fox News and Daily Mail.

Both accurate statements. Which is why Russia started a war for nothing.
  12. Just change this value to 0 or 1 or 0.000001 or something. That should be much easier.
  13. I just experienced a bug from an earlier version. My offroad M2 gunner got knocked down wounded in the bed, but kept firing the gun while lying on his side.

About the oil price graph: Notice that Saudi Arabia isn't very far into the red. That's because they are aiding the price drop in order to squeeze the profits of shale oil producers in the U.S. They are worried about the energy production boom in the states and want to make fracking uneconomical. If Russia suffers, they don't care. They're on the opposite side of every Middle East divide anyhow.

  16. Oh, cool. I guess I was expecting to see the RHS units on this list.
  17. Are there any plans to add RHF units to TPW_Skirmish?

So basically what you're saying is that you don't have any political beliefs, and don't want to see the world be more peaceful and less unjust. Whereas a decent, mature person wants BOTH the U.S. AND Russia AND China etc not to bomb and intervene in other countries, people like you see the U.S. getting away with and decide to support Russian and China's crimes, all in the name of fairness. Because let's make sure that all countries are starting wars so it will be even, right?

Here's a hint: Putin's administration was born in wartime. He was a nobody before Chechnya. War is necessary to prop up his own autocracy. He has long since past the point where he can ever hope to leave office alive or manage a transition to a successor. The power vertical he has built to protect himself has made the country basically incapable of real modernization. If oil prices were to crash, or the economy stagnate, he would be very vulnerable. The long and short of it is, Putin has nothing to offer Russia except that which can be gotten at the end of a bayonet, and needs to preempt his own decline with the usual tools of the warmonger and xenophobic demagogue. Remember that this is a Cheka state run by the secret services. It calls the Ukraininan government what it is itself--a junta. For such systems, a period of political or economic setbacks doesn't get you a lost midterm election, it gets you catastrophe. Of course Russia won't benefit from a long cold war. But it will allow Putin and his regime to survive.

    Missiles

Most Russian ATGMs tend to spin in flight. But we don't have any of those in the game.

There's a very clear difference between bias and simply making up demonstrably false bullshit. One is a LIE, the other is just fact with a spin on it. It's really very simple. And in the case of Ukraine coverage, low-quality corporate Western media do the former, while low-quality Kremlin-controlled media do the latter.
  22. lawl Because weapon inertia, firing from vehicles, slingloading and vortex ring state are flashy and easy. But slapping some shitty water square on a ditch in the ground, now that's hardcore in-depth game design right there.

Helicopters are currently immune to HEAT and MANPADS weapons, and even the Hip's rotors are essentially impervious to 12.7mm.

    Fatigue Feedback (dev branch)

They were hamstrung by technical limitations and lack of animations. In ArmA 2 you couldn't even script a slower running speed based on fatigue. But the system was actually even more forgiving than ArmA 3's. You could run a kilometer or more with light gear.
  25. maturin

Why does ArmA 3 have console FoV?

Eh what?! With peripheral vision, the human eye(s) have an FOV of almost 180 degrees. I'm sitting here waggling my fingers on either side of my head and I can see them just fine.
