AI needs sorting as not only do they spot you in foliage I had one shooting at me and my mate through a wall from 200m lol (I spotted the AI took a hit, then retreated around the wall into a compound to my mate and then the AI was shooting at both me and my mate when we were out of sight - my mate was never in sight to the AI) That said, most important thing for me is the CTD's and system resets/hangs/bsod's. Things that seem to cause this/have caused: driving/flying in 3rd person view and panning the camera -Turning too fast (with your player, not vehicle) -spawning at a mobileHQ that has stupidly been parked in the combat zone, and you are attacked straight away when your graphics are still blocky/like lego (that's another thing that is annoying - graphics/textures that take longer to load each time you spawn) - using the map, scrolling in and out and then closing the map (I'll add more as I think of them or if they happen)

the 'seagull' controls (they actually confuse me and clog up the control menu) -
Some genuine patch 1.03 information

my main complaint too, I can handle slowdowns and choppy play but you can't enjoy a game with your mates if this keeps happening :( -
I am getting that ALOT lately, really doing my head in :( infact it just happened to me, spawned at mhq1 to find some daft bugger had parked it in the combat zone for an enemy tank to kill me as I spawned then immediate CTD.

I meant if he was to dump his 9800GT to go and buy a more powerful card because Arma2 runs bad. Not that it's bad to buy a £300 card in general
-
It's the game, only fools would rush out and spend £300 on a new gfx to improve performance lol 9800GT should be more than capable, the game just needs some patching to optimise.

Very bad issue... its very important.

fair enough JW Custom, like I said I don't use any headtracking myself yet but may want to give it a go in the future, but certainly not if I have to buy it to try it. Just seems wierd that people are using freetrack but have to tamper with their legit game to do so. -

I wasn't saying the 'imaginary' free antivirus was stopping the game running fine. I was saying why should I have to go and buy another antivirus (that is advertised as being compatible and to buy using "this code" )just because Arma2 was stopping my free antivirus working (by use of securom? as it works with a fixed exe) I use neither myself, but sometime in the future I may want to try headtracking. you seem to have an "I'm all right jack" opinion on the subject because you have a TrackIR, not everyone wants to be forced to buy one. -

oh so if only a small amount of users use say a certain free antivirus program but it wont run while Arma2 is running we would be expected to go and buy a certain other anti virus program that is being promoted as being compatible-problem free with Arma2? -

research parts, if you arent sure post on a few forums that you frequent for advice on possible specs/spend. (also look into getting mobo/cpu/ram bundle if you are new to it as these will at least be compatible with each other-and usually less expensive.) It may seem boring, but READ THE MANUALS and take your time, don't just guess at things cos it looks like it will fit. That said, I think 14 may be a bit young to be mauling with expensive electronics (no offense meant) Maybe get an older buddy who has built one before to give you a hand -

using the wreck chopper today, just getting the hang of bringing wrecks back to base and when hovering over the wreck repair I switched to 3rd person vehicle view then as soon as i release the wreck either the game crashes or bsod -

What is this about a segull? playable in SP?
wooly-back-jack replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
all the seagull does for me is clog up the controls pages, theres enough controls already! why doesnt the game take your default movement keys as seagull keys instead of making it look like something you NEED to map? terribly confusing when mapping your joysticks flight controls -
yeah, safest way :)
-
nope, and i'd resize that other one otherwise when the moderator wakes up you will get a yellow card lol (as I found out myself, no images over 100kb)
-
but your rig is nothing like his...

oh lol if you check your own posts you will see that your 1st post was merged with the relevant thread so go check it. stop posting the same thread over and over, you will just get yourself into trouble

wait till you see the state of nightvision lol green disco mode! -
my system is fairly similar to yours (although my tft is not widescreen) try those settings as a starting point. I noticed dropping the res made most difference

Money unfortunately not well spent
wooly-back-jack replied to jakal66's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
my thoughts exactly. ok my system is pretty old but I still meet 2 of the optimal requirements on the back of the box. yes I have the game running (albeit with crap fps) but I'd expect it to at least look as nice as cod4, Not bloomin return to castle wolfenstein!
