There is no current legit no-cd patch available for Arma 2 currently. The developers did release a patch for Arma 1 quite a number of months after release that dispensed with the CD-check, so that might happen for Arma 2 as well eventually. Discussion of third-party nocd cracks of any kind here (whether you own the game or not) will get you a moderator warning here and a thread-lock at the very least.

Worse performance than I should be getting?
Starfire replied to TheXRatedDodo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What kinda performance are you getting on High settings? I have a suspicion your Q6600 is kinda bottlenecking your performance. Also, how much vram does your 8800GT have? -
Might wish to try defragging and checking how much free space you have on your drive.

1. $200 for a game? Where the heck are you buying it from. (Btw, I'm from Australia too and ex-military) 2. From what I understand, you are unhappy that you can't install one copy of the game on more than one PC. When you buy a game, you're entitled to use it for your own personal use. If you want to install it on 2 computers, buy two copies. When you buy a set of golf clubs, you wouldn't expect it to come with a matching set so you can play with your mate, right? 3. Everything after the third paragraph was basically just whinging. But of course, you're entitled to your opinion, Mr. LostSale.

I can Play for 2 to 10 minutes then I get a black screen
Starfire replied to KingThong's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Have you tried the 182.50 drivers? Others report that those work a lot better with Arma 2 than the newer 186.18s. -
RH heli sounds 1.01
Starfire replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Any chance this could be made compatible with VOP 2.0? The sounds are awesome and I'd love to use it, but the fact that it can't be used along with VOP means I'll have to give it a miss for now. -
Really amazes me why people come to a game's official forums to ask how to pirate the game.. It's like walking into a police station asking for tips on how to steal a car. Seriously, if there's anyone else out there reading this thread who wishes to obtain this game illegally, there is a DEMO available for free. Download that, and try it. If you don't like it, don't bother with the game. Arma II is not the sort of game you can blow through in a weekend half-drunk and expect to enjoy. It has a rather gravity-defying learning curve, and you have to invest a certain amount of time in it to reap the benefits. On the other hand, if you like the demo and want more, then buy the damn game.

Arma 2 Steam Demo Accuracy problem
Starfire replied to JamesKeenan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I think it's pretty realistic that when you're getting shot, your aim isn't too great. Try right-click when you want to shoot more accurately. A friend of mine complained about the demo too till he discovered the use of sights with right-click. -
Slow texture load, no matter the resolution and graphic quality
Starfire replied to Overwhelming's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
All the more reason to not download them, right? After all, why go for the ASUS 182.50s when you ca use the Nvidia 182.50s. You're just saving yourself from having to deal with any crap bloatware that ASUS has added to it. General rule of thumb to follow is, always go for the Nvidia drivers if possible. -

I would not do this. Download the 182.50 drivers, not the ASUS ones. -
Question about hardware... single GT275 or dual 8800GT in SLI?
Starfire replied to datter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It seems Arma II is having some problems with Nvidia cards based on the 2xx architecture, so I'd definitely stick with your 8800GT SLi for now. Upgrading your CPU (and maybe dropping in another gig of ram) would probably do more to boost your performance. -
New Patch made things worse!
Starfire replied to StormbringerGT's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm guessing that should be 186.18. Have you tried the 182.50 drivers? Others have reported performance problems using the 186.18 drivers with Vista. -

Which drivers are you using for your video card? -
It's not useless, but it is what I'd call preliminary findings. It's a starting point. Your evaluation of the use of nHancer in increasing Arma 2 performance does require further data for validation. You have a hypothesis, that nHancer increases the performance and possibly the graphical quality of Arma 2. However, your data is exploratory in nature and has not taken several controllable variables into account. Therefore, any subsequent testing performed (if you so feel inclined) should take these variables into account, as well as provide a quantitative measure of any performance gain.
-
Appreciate the info, but I think it would only be of use if you let us know the actual framerate (min/max/mean) before and after the use of nHancer. It's too easy to mistakenly perceive a performance increase if you are expecting one. What's more, if you had modified the graphical settings as well, that would also introduce more variables which would affect your results. I suggest viewing the same scene in-game with and without using nHancer and recording the framerate, without modifying any of the in-game graphics settings.

I upgraded my video card and lost performance???
Starfire replied to Funko's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I very much doubt that will achieve anything except getting your thread locked. -
Might I suggest proofreading your post in the future, to cut down on the ton of spelling errors? It really detracts from your attempt at humour.

Why not get the Steam version? No cd required.

Suggestion: Get some black voice actors next time
Starfire replied to Brendon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Maybe there's some nuance in the accent I am missing, but honestly, white Americans and black Americans just all sound like Americans to me (Australian here). Down here in the Land of Oz, people generally all sound the same as long as they were born/raised in Australia, regardless of their ancestry. Sure, there are slight variations in intonation, but that is more due to locale than ethnicity. If you're saying he sounds too young for his age, then maybe I'd understand your point. But saying he doesn't sound black enough just doesn't seem to make any sense. I'm not being disagreeable, just honestly not getting it. -

Starfire replied to Shyzar's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
If you found bf2 and AA difficult, you'll find the learning curve in Arma 2 to be much steeper. Do keep in mind that those games are very different from Arma 2, though. If you're looking for the new latest military-themed multiplayer shooter, Arma 2 might disappoint. When you downloaded the game from Steam, it should have come with a pdf manual. That includes a list of keyboard controls. If you don't have software to read pdf files, google for Adobe Acrobat Reader and download that. -
e6600 8800GTS and 2g RAM - Do I need to upgrade?
Starfire posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi guys, my current system is: Core 2 Duo e6600 running at stock speed (2.4GHz) Abit AB9 motherboard 8800GTS 320Mb 2gig RAM Widows Vista 32-bit From what I've read (on these forums and elsewhere), my CPU should be able to handle Arma 2 if I overclock it (say, up to 3.0GHz?). Is anyone else running Arma 2 on my cpu and experiencing substantial bottlenecking even when overclocked? My 8800GTS is definitely a limiting factor. I see a number of other forum-members here use an 8800GTS, but typically the 512Mb version. I'm assuming I'll have to upgrade to something a little better if I want to run Arma 2 on high settings. Would a GTX260 be a good idea if I decide not to upgrade my CPU (and simply overclock it), or would the cpu bottleneck negate any benefit I get from the video card upgrade? Since RAM is so cheap nowadays, I'm definitely gonna drop another 2g RAM in my rig and hopefully, that helps with performance as well! If anyone has any advice or comments, they would be most most appreciated! Thanks! -
e6600 8800GTS and 2g RAM - Do I need to upgrade?
Starfire replied to Starfire's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I just read in another thread that Vista 32-bit (which is what I'm using) doesn't recognise RAM memory limits above 3 gigabyte. So if I upgraded to 4gigs of ram, I'd be stuck with only 3gig (or slightly more than 3gig) due to the OS requiring the rest for memory addressing. Does this mean that I should just get 3gig of ram instead of 4gig? I'm also confused if that means that out of my current 2gig of RAM, Windows is using 1gig of that for memory addressing? P.S. Dwarden, thank you for the link to the stickied thread (though I already read it before I read this one). Really appreciate how you guys are actively reading the forums! -

Just wondering, would the GTX260 benefit from the SLI enhancer? -
Thank you and congratulations Bohemia Interactive.
