    I know the card isn't out yet. But I'm treating myself an early birthday present for myself.. I'm getting either some sort of SLI config OR a 5870.. Same performance as 295 but only single core. From what I've understand the sli support right Now, is a bit so so. So im thinking the 5870 is the better choice. It's also the cheapest aside from 260 sli..

    Quite a dilemma really. I don't want too wait, since I've just bought a brand new computer aside from the GPU (wanted too wait for 5870). But still I wanted too hear your opinion on this.

    I'm on P6T v2 Deluxe, 6 Gig's of XMS3 7-7-7-20 and a 920 i7..

    Opinions? Suggestions,? Ideas? :j:

    And I who have been running normal.. I heard normal shadows and below stress the cpu more than the gpu.. high seems actually better overall.. cant say i get a big fps increase, it's about the same (only have 2x8800 gts 512mb so not that great to begin with) however if i can get high gfx with same performance, this is great.

    So I was thinking maybe there are other options that takes some stress from the cpu.. only have a 3ghz dual core so..

    it would be best if cars and stuff didnt blow up.. they dont do it in real life...yeah you might have a gas tank that is low( not diesel) and full of gas pressure, then it will go boom some if you hit the tank.. but nothing else will blow.. then you would have to have ammo inside that went up, but to really blow would have to go at the same time... so explosions = hollywood. The damage models are lame when it comes to that stuff.

    Gas tanks don't blow up, that's just Hollywood.. MAYBE if you're using tracer rounds, and are lucky.

    So I bought the boxed version as it was cheaper, and was released over a week earlier. I didn't think I could add it to steam with it's key. Which it didn't.

    However. I was a bit disappointed when I added the boxed version as a "non-steam" game. When I launch it, I can't use the "join" button on friends, and it just says I'm playing a non-steam game. Not ArmA2 .. Any way to fix this?

    I mean since steam is free, it's stupid not too allow this imo.

    Page file can slow the system down.. It's only useful if you have insufficent RAM..

    Problem solved btw.. A reinstall of the display drivers was needed.

    The whole point of making it read only is to make it possible to save your settings, which is not otherwise possible. The settings will reset themselves to default. Which was kinda the problem in my opening post..

    If you mean the correct profile cfg, then yes.. And I managed to get it right now as well. But now I'm getting memory crashes instead lol. I did turn off my page file, but I reckon 4gb should be enough? I got 2x 512mb VRAM as well. (8800 GTS in sli)..

    Ok now im getting "Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine" when I try to run the game..

    I just got a quick question.. I've bought the boxed version, and when i try too add it to steam it says im playing a "non steam game" in my friends list. Any chance to make it say arma 2? Also, the friends overlay don't work.. Will try with latest patch (the hotfix) but i doubt it will be any different.
