Arma 2 Addon request thread
iantis replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'd really like a flyby camera for vehicles. So when I'm flying an aircraft, if I hit a button, it will switch to an external view in front of the vehicle, moderately zoomed in, and track the vehicle as it flies by the camera's position. The old Jane's flight simulators had great flyby cams; they were a lot of fun to use. Personally, I really dislike fixed cameras when flying planes - nothing cinematic about it. Thanks in advance for any help. -

This is an amazing project, keep up the great work. -
Hi all, can anybody please tell me if trackir 5 works in the dark? I am considering buying, but am wondering if there needs to be more ambient light for the tracking to work properly. Thanks in advance.

If there were an expansion pack just for better voices, I'd buy that. :) -

At least in the U.S., it was in the top ten Steam sellers as recently as yesterday (Saturday, July 26) if I recall correctly. There were a bunch of cheap sales going on on Steam this weekend (I bought two games myself - btw, Penumbra is really quite cool if you haven't tried it) so it's hardly surprising that it dropped off over the weekend. Most of the games on the top 10 are older games right now because of the sale. It hardly has much to do with Arma II. -
Because we like it that way. Demand exists, Bohemia supplies, we pay them for it. Pretty simple, really.

Hmm, by "desuire" do you mean "de jure"? Also, that would be Latin, friend, not French.

Why on earth would you play this on a PC with a 360 controller? Would you run a race with crutches?

Annimation actors for ARMA2... now we know...
iantis replied to furia's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It looks to me like the anims in Arma 2 are mocapped, just not blended well. E.g. the engine does not combine animations simultaneously well - it does them more linearly. A bit of a problem, if you ask me, but not a deal breaker. And yes, I used to be a mocap animator, used what was then Motion Builder (before Alias bought it). -
I agree with the guy who said making missions is a lot like being a dungeon master in D&D. I make simple missions in 10 minutes for my brother and me, and we just spend hours messing around. What a fantastic game, worth every penny. Also - I like flying choppers. One of my favorite parts of the game. The huey is just so much fun, especially when carrying real people around.

Hmm, ok I will take a look at it tonight and see what I can find. Perhaps sobrek is right, it is either decelerate, hold or accelerate. When I fly helicopters it feels like I have full 0 - 100% control, but I could be incorrect about that. When I have the throttle around the middle position I can hover, and then I can slowly descend by pulling it down slightly. If I put it down all the way, obviously, I descend rapidly and crash. So it feels like I have very fine-grained control. I use the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro joystick. You can see the throttle is a rotating switch at the bottom.

I use analog control on my Logitech joystick without any problem. Did you assign the controls properly in the Arma settings?
