The game is pretty much spot on with the 1.05 patch, im having very few issues worth complaining about. The only main one with this latest patch is that AI squadmates seem to get stuck in danger mode even with no enemies around, which can make things very slow when trying to cross decent sized distances to the next objective on foot. AI drivers still have problems with pathfinding too, but other than that everything is great as far as im concerned & im sure BIS will fix the AI a little more for us :)

In the UK Arma 2 is still in the "chart" section in all the games shops ive been in at a respectable retail price, which is good going really seen as a lot of games on the PC disappear into the bargain bin within 3 months of release, even the good ones! -

Ive always quite liked the rain since flashpoint, its always come across as quite realistic to me, all I would prefer was if there was a louder sound when it was raining, especially when your in woodland, or if they made different degrees of rain with some storms heavier than others. FarCry 2 had pretty good effects, something like that maybe -

I think a bit of tweaking with units under high command wouldnt go amiss too, theres been far too many occasions when ive been trying to work my way towards an enemy position in a line or pincer, & the high command units have defied the waypoints I set & gone storming off ahead of me & ruined the whole thing, usually getting themselves killed in the process! Or ive set them waypoints assuming that they will move there & then stop (that includes setting their speed to limited, command type "move" etc) but once they reach the waypoint they decide to just start driving/running all over the place & I keep having to re-issue orders just to get them to go back to where I originally sent them! -
Ive noticed in the game that AI squadmates & enemies are often equipped with smoke grenades but im yet to see one being used by anyone other than me in the game, has anyone else seen an AI use one or are they just there so when you search bodies you find them, making it look like the kind of gear you would find in real life if you searched dead military personnel on the battlefield? :confused:

Absolutely! Its the biggest problem with the game right now & needs to be hotfixed as soon as possible. Im really pleased with every other aspect of 1.05 so im not trying to have a dig at BIS, but the AI getting stuck in combat mode & ignoring nearly all orders once they are in it is making the game far too frustrating to play at the moment, so unfortunately im not playing it for the time being, just keep checking these forums in the hope its getting sorted :( -

Agreed, I dont know what comes after manhattan though as every time ive got that far, a new patch has come out & my saves wont load without CTD, so ive never bothered going any further! I havent liked what ive read from others on here so maybe I shouldnt attempt to finish it. I was hoping it would go into a full on infantry combat sim a la OFP, rather than this warfare thing I keep reading about & havent actually played yet -
Im wondering if the guy is still playing the boxed version & hasnt brought himself up to the latest patch yet, & maybe hasnt optimised the graphics settings for his PC? I have very few complaints about 1.05 barring the AI sticking in combat mode & the usual AI vehicle pathfinding

Please alter the 1.05 bug that seems to stop AI squadmates coming out of danger mode, preferably before the next patch if possible as just a hotfix, its really frustrating now :( -

Just been having another good session & again, the performance boost on my rig is great with this patch, but this problem with the AI refusing to come out of danger mode is really bugging me, is there a hotfix for this anywhere? Danger mode is definitely useful when your directly engaged, but when your trying to get away quickly or whatever its an absolute pain! :( -

Hi Vilas, ive finally got round to installing all the P85 stuff but seem to be getting a few issues! If I go into the armoury & try to use a lot of the extra vehicles, for example the T-55, all I get is a crewman stood on his own, and with some vehicles (such as the marder) when I choose the option "sit in back" (just because I was curious about interiors) the game just crashes to desktop :confused: Im running VOP sound 2.1, everon, your P85 mods, the extra vehicles mod & littlebirds as well as being on version 1.05. Really nice work on the stuff I have had a play with though! -
I think your a bit wrong there chap, either that or they forgot to include the AI in the demo. After blowing up the radar thing on the demo mission, I turned my attention to that little village below, and most of the enemy troops just stood there while I took shot after shot at them, they made no effort to run for cover, fire back or even acknowledge that they were being fired at!

It is a very good one, however much to my disappointment its also just about the only one out there! You guys know where there are any other good campaigns to download? Ive tried armaholic but barring this one, the others on there were rushed out in the weeks following the games release so they lack any real depth or fancy stuff!

Mostly I play single player missions that people release on Armaholic or here, ive gone off online gaming in recent years! Im still waiting for some more campaigns to be released, although 6 months after the games release im starting to worry people arent making any! Theres no shortage of mods & extra vehicles etc, but very few actual missions :( Bardosys "chesty puller" campaign was spot on barring some lost in translation dialogue, but so far it seems to be the only one worth a mention!

Yeah, Im not sure on that, we've never had any incidents & none of my family have criminal records, it may just be the way the regional plod likes to do things,maybe varies in different counties. He also has a firearms license for a semi-auto .22 rifle which I suppose is what they are more bothered about. He has a Savage model pump action shotgun too, I remember going shooting with him when I was a kid & this thing held about 10 shells, but after Hungerford the rules changed & he had to have the chamber reduced to 3 shells (including the one in the spout)

Ive been healed by medics from other squads in the game, but they just seemed to do it automatically because they were near me, not because I was calling for them, I wasnt red screen injured either, just the "oh my arm" type..

You sure on that one chief? Plod comes out here once or twice a year to make sure my dads shotguns & cartridges are locked away in a secure cabinet & the cabinet by law has to be securely bolted to an outside wall. (on the inside of the house obviously) Ive heard of people losing their shotgun licenses over not keeping them securely stored

And you still couldnt defend your property with it anyway, legal issues with shooting at burglars aside, your shotgun would be kept in a double locked secure cabinet & said thief isnt going to wait around while you dig out the keys & fumble around unlocking it all. Going back probably to the early 90's another farmer round here who was getting a lot of break ins was actually unofficially advised by the local rural plod to take the lead shot out of some cartridges & fill them with salt to fire at the intruders as like a deterrent, but I bet you wouldnt even get away with that now!

Definitely the thing that needs sorting out with this patch, i mentioned it earlier in the thread too. Im happy with the rest of the patch for the performance boost, but I may have to roll back to 1.04 for now (meaning a fresh install of the game of course) to avoid pulling my hair out due to my squads insubordinations :p -
Seconded! Especially with the mentality of a lot of people around guns,teenage lads in particular. As I said above I grew up on a farm so always had access to guns,starting with air rifles & then shotguns in my late teens, and I was always safe with them as taught by my dad. When mates from school used to come round though, sometimes I would get the air rifles out, but these town lads just used to point them at me or other people "messing about" or would shoot at things without even considering what was behind whatever they were shooting at, and back then I was too weedy to really do much to stop them! (different story now im a grown man!)Ive no problem with people like my dad having licensed access to .22 rifles & shotguns for pest control, but they certainly shouldnt be in the hands of any random idiot off the street

Performance wise the patch seems fine, but as was said earlier the AI seems to get stuck in danger mode, last night I was playing the user mission "operation enable sky" and it took me ages to get my squad to mount the APC after a firefight! I put them into safe mode & told them to board, but they took forever to fall back & a couple of them kept clearing off while I kept frantically issuing orders for them to come back and get in the APC. Then once I finally got them aboard I used high command mode to move the APC to the next objective, setting it 3 or 4 waypoints to follow, it got so far (after knocking several trees, walls & fences down as it couldnt stay on the road) then just stopped! I cancelled all the waypoints & re-issued some more but it just wouldnt move, to make it worse there was an enemy soldier just left of it & it wouldnt engage him either! I tried everything but eventually had to quit the mission :( 1.05 seems to have improved a lot of things but the AI seems to have suffered with it in places!
