    Win7

I'm using Windows7 and it's been a performance increase over Vista and XP. Definitely recommend it.
  2. A true "Military" simulator would have to encompass so many different things it would cost far, far more than any of the prices you have specified. A real military sim is designed to help save lives in the event of a combat engagement in the real world. Not to keep a civilian entertained in the evening or at weekends. You have to include peacekeeping, humanitarian operations, VIP protection, etc.. In a real world military environment it's rarely as simple as "Enemy in *THIS* uniform is located in *THESE* locations. Take your team and capture the objectives". The amount of technology and licences needed to put said technology in the simulation would cost so much money that they couldn't afford to charge anything under thousands of dollars. I think Arma II is about as in depth as it is realistically possible to achieve in a military simulation for entertainment purposes. You are asking for something unrealistic. Plus a REAL simulation would be boring, lots of waiting around playing cards.

Tell me this didn't just happen.

As the good old Army Field Manual has always said. If your attacking a defended Urban area there are a few key points, 1. Isoltation, don't give the defenders the ability to move and avoid your attack. Weaken the coherence of the defence and restrict or manipulate their maneuverability. 2. Persistent Surveillance. Constant updating information of enemy positions and maneuvers. Giving you the ability to attack a threat as it relocates. 3. Fire Support. Artillery, Aircraft, Heavy Armour. You need the ability to attack embedded positions. So campers aren't the problem, you just don't know how to attack the flags. Read the US Army Field Manual, it's a simulation of Modern Warfare and the Army Field Manual teaches you the tricks of Modern Warfare. AI won't know what hit them.
  4. Ethne how can you say "its a work in progress deal with it or move on"? Its a RELEASED game, you are making out that it's fine that bohemia basically released a beta game to the public and charged £30/$45 for it. And it's not bitching, it's complaining about an issue in a product you have paid for. Which is a consumers right to do. But let me guess, concerning Arma2, we have no rights. It's not a common marketing technique to release unfinished products and I fully back the guy who started this thread for never wanting to buy another BI product again. It's ridiculous that they have released the game in it's current status.
  5. Atleast battlefield works. At the end of the day, Arma might be one of the best war simulations out there, but if people can't play it, lets face it, they aren't gunna stick around when there are plenty of other games on the market... I'd be happy to play a weak BF2 clone that works, than Arma2 which is so full of bugs it makes Gothic 3 look perfect. Sorry guys, you may all be in love with Arma and hate OFP, but if it doesn't work, you can't expect people to wanna keep paying their money for it. At least codemaster won't release an unfinished, bug littered game like Arma2, I will be able to unwrap OFP2 when it arrives, stick it in my Xbox or my PC and it will work straight off, I wont have to buy it, install it, re-install my pc, edit my config files, upgrade my pc, wait for a patch, patch it, then wait for a patch to fix the bugs in the last patch. Its terrible imho and I don't know how bohemia could release it in its current state.
  6. Not only do I get terrible frame rate, I have also started getting graphical glitches, textures dissapear, it loads the LOD textures for the floor, so it looks like im standing about 100ft above the ground looking down at it, the whole screen goes blurry, helicopters etc have no rotors, random shapes appear and the frame rate of the game NEVER goes about 20fps. No matter what settings I use, it stays exactly the same. System Specs: -Asus M2N-E Sli Green Edition -AMD Athlon 6400+ Dual Core "Black Edition" -Nvidia 8800GTX 512mb vram -4gb DDR2 RAM -Soundblaster Audigy 4 SE -Samsung 32" TV -Windows XP 32bit Running all the very latest hardware drivers and using the latest 1.2.5 patch. Really don't know what to do to fix this, if there even is a fix, might just have to wait for another patch. Probably going to avoid Bohemia after this, its kinda ridiculous. Anyone got any ideas? I also managed to capture a print screen of one of the glitches when I was on the main menu just about to change graphics options. (hadn't changed any at the time the glitch happened) http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1158/hmmmkwx.jpg

Cheers, will try rolling back my driver then. But I don't want to have to use an olddd driver for the rest of time, so it's only a temp fix. Need to get this sorted.

Still no joy. Gunna have to wait for a patch to come out. Majorly gutting.

I put the latest drivers on straight from the get-go when I installed XP earlier today. So I doubt thats the issue. Thanks for the quick response though!
  11. Frame rate is TERRIBLE no matter what Graphics level I have it on, low, normal, high etc.. I have tried all the presets. The textures some times disappear, the ground drops away even though I can still stand on it, the gun lags between firing, sound and re-coil and I get black lines up and down the screen every few seconds. Need seriousss help. My Rig: Asus M2N-E Sli Motherboard AMD Athlon x64 x2 6400+ "Black Edition" 3.22ghz 4gb DDR2 RAM Nvidia 8800GTX 512mb vRAM Soundblaster Audigy 4 SE Windows XP Samsung 32" HD TV Was running Windows 7 x64 but performance was EVEN worse on that setup than on this one. Truely gutted about this game because I had really high hopes. Disappointment  Anyone got any possible solutions? I hardly think it's my rig as I can play FarCry2, Crysis, E:TW and pretty much every other game on full video settings and have no problems at all. So any solution is greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
