  1. Sorry, I'm new to this thread (and to editing in ArmA in general). I've been enjoying some secops random generators using the module and the ACM. Very compelling stuff, but I have a couple questions.

I like the idea that my fire team can go up against any opposition as long as I try and stay alive and stealthy. In that sense, how do I give my team the support it needs? I'm talking about laser markers, artillery, air strikes, helicopter transports, etc.? In the single player game, you can call them in via your communications menu. I tried adding the arty module and nothing happened.

Also, after one of my guys go down, HQ always gives me an option for reinforcements. I tried accepting one of them since I was down to only 2 guys and when I got to the reinforcement waypoint, nothing happened? How do you reinforce?

Thanks for your help. I gave up on the single player (too buggy) but I won't give up on this awesome game. :)

  2. I love this game and I hate it. Never, have I been blocked, twisted, forced to reload endlessly to try all combination of weird, counter-intuitive things, just to get to the next stage.

    Arma 2 has:

An abysmally coded 3D engine, that won't deliver playable fps on mega systems.

AI of the very worst order.

Clearly, no QC testing of the campaign - or, if they actually did test it AND deemed it acceptable for release, dear god... I'm just lost for words.

What it does have is potential in spades. It needs at least another 6 months dev before it could be considered a finished product. So BI now has a reputation as one of those devs that relies on the 'community' to polish the turd? What a mocking shame their attitude is.

I've been trawling these forums and watching the mountain of grief, looking daily for solutions to my new daily issues with the game, the ones that get you just when you think it's all working well, and only once have I seen a staffy at BI actually post. Absolutely, utterly disgraceful.

So. A year of patches, and it'll be right. We must believe. All we have with Arma 2 is faith. What crap of a way to garner customer loyalty is that?

Through all this they're hiding, silent.

Shameful, disgraceful and a punch in the guts to the loyal, the casual, and absolutely everyone who paid cash for this.

Just one statement, assuring us they know, understand, and are working on it would help wash away the pain felt by 100's of thousands of suffering customers. They care, right?

Um, no I guess not? :j:

I had to endmission Manhattan. It was fun but I couldn't finish it.

Now I'm on Bitter Chill and I have no idea where to recover the documents.

Ah well. I might just play Secops and random missions and armoury until the campaign is patched. From what I hear, it only gets much more buggy.

  3. It's pretty strange and I've finally narrowed down a consistent crash bug for me.

Basically, whenever I pull out a laser marker binocular and press the left mouse button to mark a target, I get an instant CTD (with no further detail of what has failed -- is there a way to check?).

I've experimented a bit and it happens in single player as well as the editor, so I'm assuming it happens everywhere. This is 100% repro-able.

Pull out laser marker. Press left button once you're in the magnified view. Instant CTD.

    My rig:

    Q9550 @ 3.8

    8GB DDR2

    Powercolor 4870x2

    Vista x64

    Everything on Very High

    1920x1200 for both settings

    Help!

  4. Sweet. Can't wait to get back into it tonight.

I'm getting a very annoying CTD bug during the first mission (3rd part) where I have to use the laser designator to bomb a building, and then they tell me to look for a tank.

When I pull out the laser designator and look through the lens, I start losing fps, get weird texture flicker, until eventually CTD. I've reloaded over and over again and still get the same issue in the same spot.

    My setup:

    Q9550 @ 3.8

    8GB DDR2

    Powercolor 4870x2

    Vista Ultimate x64

Running the game with everything on Very High at 1920 x 1200 for both settings, and using -winxp to enable Crossfire X.

    Thanks.

  5. I have this exact same issue, although I didn't check to see that it was my display driver that was the reason for the crash. I basically take out the laser marker, use it to take down a house, and then the game starts getting unstable/flickery textures until it CTDs. Happens every time. If I don't use the laser marker, nothing happens, but then I can't finish the mission.

    WTF?

  6. Hi all. Just started playing my review copy of ArmA 2 with 1.02 patch.

Pretty cool game, runs well on my system, etc.

One thing I can't seem to figure out is where the waypoints are in your HUD.

For instance, I'm in the bootcamp tutorial and the guy tells me to pick up my rifle. There is no way waypoint marker telling me where the weapon is and I had to run around and eventually find it randomly. Same with any other objectives in the game.

Am I missing something? I'm quite experienced with OpFlash (but never played ArmA) so is there something I need to do to bring up the mission objective waypoint indicator?

    Thanks!
