  1. Bolly there are no special filter settings just logical ones the higher you set max ping the more servers you are likely to see.

    my settings are listed below where I have blank I mean nothing is shown in that box, these settings give me only local good ping servers.

    and I assume you are using 1.03

    host = blank

    max ping = 150

    min players = 0

    max players= 0

    mission = blank

    type = blank

    full servers = show

    passworded = hide


  2. np m8 I have done the same thing myself... and when I saw such feeling and it put so strongly it reminded me of me...;)

    first thing I thought was I wonder if he actually checked the specs...

    I run 1680 x 1050 on a Q6600@3G and a 9800GT with all settings normal VD 5300m no PP no AA Nvidia 182.50

    It runs well enough to enjoy but of course it could be better.


  3. @Akilez... I dunno where you get ur info from but every review i have read says Asus P5N-T Deluxe has 2 x PCI 2.0 x 16 slots.

    Please point me to the specs that say it is only PCI 1.0 are there different versions of the board?

  4. find ur arma2.cfg file in my docs\arma2 and edit it to have the resolution/render u desire

  5. Man its like that very sexy GF...

    she looks great is great in bed... you went on the first date and thought wow this is gonna be awsome...and it is.... but!!!

    in time you realise she is highly strung...(crashes alot) moody...(seems to run good some of the time) and jealous...(wants all the attention and resources cpu/ram)

    The good outways the bad but sometimes you wanna......

    in MP online (I have never played SP)

    I have had to tab cross country many times after chopper is hit by AA and I have ejected...

    To be honest I think it it a flaw with the game in that on many missions all the non target towns are empty of civilian vehicles.

    It makes much more sense to steal a car/pickup in a close by town than tabbing for ages just to reach the action or support.

    On a good server with good players it is very easy to get another Helo to swing by and pick you up, some of the good pilots love to get guys out of trouble... voice comms is the best way to play.

    Most of the time I just respawn to get back to a pickup point or a parajump...it saves a lot of time doing very little.


  7. the soldier in one interview in his first combat (Iraq) was making it very clear that even if the opfor went down after being hit they were often still moving... seemingly surprised he said "they just dont die when you hit em you have to hit em again"

    he did not make any judgement on why.


  8. I agree with some splash effect

    one weapon that should have some is the minigun...

    when fired in game it can not possibly accurately replicate 4000 rnds a minute (66/sec) for most players especially online.

    as for the 5.56 I never use it in game but online even the 7.62 x 54 can take 3 to 4 hits to kill at LR, this may be down to lag/loss also.

    It does seem to match kill power with range and caliber quite well tho.

    I have seen interviews with US soldiers saying how often it takes multiple hits to stop insurgents.


  9. I did a search for artillery smoke and got nada...

    So I have no testing of earlier versions but I see the smoke grenades actually smoke now.

    My issue is as an arty spotter when I call in smoke salvos they a hardly more than a smouldering candle and by the time they hit the ground they have no effect at all.

    Surely they should provide prodigiously more smoke than a hand thrown grenade...(not even close), or at least something like the smoke launchers on armoured vehicles.

    If they worked well we could save many a player spawning into a hot MHQ or put up a wall of smoke to make that advance over open ground when assaulting a well held position....

  10. I play with a VD of 5300 all settings normal no AA or PP and I see impacts all the way out on 8 out of 10 shots, mostly using the larger calibers.

    I have done a lot of open ground shooting at upto 1k IRL and seeing impacts is very dependant on power/caliber of the round and the the material being hit.

    Some surfaces will show no sign of a hit at LR even with large magnum rifle rounds and some rounds are just too weak at LR

    eg I fired a 257 and 300 cal magnum at a lump of dirt at about 600m to see large puffs of dust when the same point was hit with 243 we could not even see the hits.

    I guess what I am saying is it wont always show but you have to have everything in your favour, dont use 5.56 rnds for LR and make sure your sytem is upto scratch... because the game is....

  11. Ferrando I have seen and read the same...

    I saw an interview with a M1 tank commander from the gulf war and he said they just lined up on a crest out of range of a whole battery of dug in T72s and killed them at will because the opfor rnds were falling well short of the US position.

    He said it was like shooting fish in a barrel.


  12. hmmm anyone that buys a new vga card hoping it will fix an undefined/unresolved system crash at best has a 50/50 chance of being happy....

    I dont think it is specific to any brand type of card or temps... (as a rule).

    I run a temp mon prog in the background and have alarms set to warn of overtemp.

    I still get the same crashes with the room so cold the GPU/CPU temps are below 50C.

    I think it is the compexity and stabilty of the game and its relationship with OS... it still needs some work.

    ps I see lots of server crashes also.


  13. Like LeftSkidLow says it depends on the type of chopper...

    I am no chopper pilot but I have done many LALO jumps (upto 7000ft)out of a few different types at various altitudes. In some types when they cant close the doors or have no doors fitted the pilots complain about how they have to float back to land, because they cant just go into a steep dive due to poor Aero without doors.

    I have also done HALO/HAHO with O2 from 25000ft and everything in between... with some fixed wing they will go vertical overtake you while you are in freefall and beat you back to the hanger... (Pilatus Porter)


  14. @BeerHunter I have had the same install of XP Pro SP3 32bit for about 6 mths now with not even a hint of a glitch.

    After about the 3rd run of beta and a large windows update my PC does some very strange things... I fear that a few CTDs and BSODs has corrupted a windows file.

    I am going to reload some stuff to see if I can track it down.

    and yes I am experienced at spyware resolution...none detected.


  15. technically as it is beta it is not 1.04 so yes it is updating to a newer 1.03 otherwise there would be no online servers to play on.

    "mouse smoothing" option is a dead giveaway that it is different.....

    I find it great that I can run both parallel to compare, well done BIS it is the best way forward.

    I did a clean install to patch to 1.03 as patching from old install of 1.02 did not work well for me.
