    thanks seany i'll try that out, i know this is a bit of an odd problem really i couldn't believe it myself when it happend! not at home at the moment so will try it in a bit and let you know how it goes!

    EDIT: thanks mate that solved the problem. Something i never would have thought of trying.

    Hi, for some reasong that i have not been able to work out, whenever my usb joystick is plugged in i always always always get a CTD on startup. Take it out and it works fine! it's really odd! could this be a problem with my joystick drivers (which i have reinstalled couple of times :( ) or with arma 2 itself? My joystick is a speedlink black widow sl-6640. Anyone else had a similar problem?

    Hi guys, loving the mod. However I have not been able to play on an ace2 server since i installed the 1.05 patch. When i use the ACE2 shortcut to launch the game it tells me the 1.05 patch is available (already installed). I have reinstalled the mod and made sure it is updated. A bit stumpted as to what i should do really. Attempting to patch again just gives me a message saying the game is up to date. Any ideas? Thanks

    I have to admit, that i'm running vanilla at the moment (i'm based in the uk) and there are vary rarely many servers with many people playing. Also no one hardly ever talks to you. i'm a bit frustrated as this game has such potential but it seems impossible to enjoy it. I always see videos on you tube of epic online battles and i'm wondering why i can't have that!

    Hi all, I'm really enjoying the game, returning after the 1.04 patch which appears to have made the game playable for me apart from the odd problem here and there. Basically i've been looking into playing on line but i can rarely find good servers where people are chatty and making a real effort. Also I am drowning in mods and don't know which to try. Are there any recommended ones that people can suggest? It's such an indepth game but don't feel like i'm getting the most play out of it as i could. There must be people out there who get together and have a really good time... whereas i just end up hanging around on the carrier waiing for a pic up while no one will talk to me... any ideas guys? Thanks

    The most annoying problem that I have found since release has been the fact that i'm trying to find Lopotev and his crew, i go to Staroye to help out the guirillas. Once i have done this i ask for a pick up and.... well the bugger never shows up! it's so annoying. i can call the support in a couple of times, he assures me he is on his way but then never turns up! so annoying!

    get over it? you're quite the cheeky one are'nt you? I just wanted a bit of feedback from other players and wondered whether there was anything I could do my end to help it. In actual fact I opened the ports just for the sake of trying, and it did seem to reduce this effect a little. I don't know if this is just coincedence or what but it worked!

    i very much enjoy playing online in arma2, the only problem is that all human team mates never run smoothly. They are always always choppy, skipping forward. Does everyone/anyone else get this? I have an 8mb internet connection through sky and i am not running wireless. Can i even do anything to help against this? Opening the ports worth the try? thanks

    Hi Flightster. I was having this problem. I personnaly solved it by moving the bin.pbo file onto my desktop (from the dta folder) i did this because i had the 'no blur mod' and this seemed to keep getting me kicked. When i moved it the bin.pbo reappeared of it's own accord and now i can connect fine. Sorry there is no official explanation as to how or why it worked but it did. Give it a go. Can't hurt and it might do the trick! Best of luck

    the only thing i think i have added that could be causing these problems is the no blur mod. I removed the tag in my shortcut but still the same problem. Is there anyway someone could upload the original bin.pbo for a uk bought game? it's just i overwrote that when i applied the mod :( maybe that is still causing a problem for me. Thanks

    hmmm sadly i cannot do that as I have never had XP on this system. But i will fiddle and test see how high i can push the boundry before it becomes unplayable again.

    EDIT: Ok i've got it to quite a nice level now. Happy with it. It seems scenarios are the way to go! Alot more fun, quicker and more accesssible! :)

    Yes I have to return feeling rather embarrassed and foolish. I now have it set at an acceptable fps, although it looks like something a 7 year old has drawn :p But the gamepleay is what it's all about for me :) I have to thank those for pointing out my stupidity, i know it's hard but if you could please resist berrating me :p haha i know i deserve it. hey ho thanks for the help

    AF:V High

    AA: Disabled

    Video memory: Default

    Both 3d resolution and normal resolution: 1440x900x32

    Terrain: Normal

    Object detail:low

    Shadow:High

    Postprocess effects:Off

    Interface:Normal

    I also changed scene complexity to 160k, my view distance is quite far but only because i didn't notice much change in performance by having it high. Do you think i should change some of my settings? Thanks for the help

    Oh, well i wonder if i can get a refund (most probably not!). For goodness sake, why release it in this state! I wouldn't buy a chair with three legs or a car with a bust engine would i! I mean maybe you can't compare these different types of market but it just seems almost a slap in the face. Oh well rant over *grabs his ticket number and heads to the back of the que*

    p.s its confusing and annoying that some peoples can get to play this perfectly well! :( why can't i? Worth a reinstall?

    in some circles i think i am already officially insane :eek:

    basically I have tried altering cfg and profile files, i've tried a programme that shuts down all un-neccasery services, programmes etc. I've got latest drivers, patches and the such. I've set compatability to xp. I've reduced visuals (changing which doesn't seem to make much difference at all?!).

    I'm at my whits end. I still can only manage around an average of 10-11FPS (according to Fraps) with a maximum of 27.

    My system:

    Intel core 2 due e8200 2.66GHZ;

    1GB Sahpire radeon 4870 HD;

    2GB ram;

    Running on windows 7 RC build 7100.

    Is there anything else i can do or is it time i throw in the towel? Is the game worth keeping or will this stuff eventually be fixed in patches?
