Maybe it is random, but the random seed is being reset on game start :P

Woah that is pretty awesome.
But not as awesome as me then proceeding to down one of the Hinds with a fixed ToW emplacement whereupon two enemy parachuted out as it fireballed into the ground :o Great stuff!

So I was playing a 'My Mission' defend scenario, except I changed our unit to helicopters (which incidentally confuses the AI foot soldiers immensely! :P). Anyways, after a while a trio of Hind's showed up, circled the area and proceeded to whup my ass :) My question is: who called the Hinds? Are enemy reinforcements a part of 'my mission', or was it the ambient engagement stuff?!
I was most happy they showed up anyway...

@ Whisper: yeah - first thing I did was remove the 'turn' bindings when I realised what it was trying to do.
@ Rocco: you need to play Black Shark - it's amazing :)
[ed] @ Crazy Chris: the little birds have been modded into Arma2 already :)
[ed2] @ datter: I usually find joystick better (and do on BS) but Arma2 heli's are much easier for me with mouse & keys!
@ All: is it possible to mod the flight model at all? Not familiar with Arma modding yet. Just want to increase the rudder effect really.

I can't fly Arma2 heli's at all - I'm all over the place when it comes to fine manoeuvring - yet I have no trouble flying DCS Black Shark (which is apparently almost lifelike).
Hmm... maybe it's the contra-rotor setup.

heh, thanks anyways ;)

Hi all,
I created a user combat mission using 'My Missions' - the guy on the radio keeps giving me a mission, then it seems he's waiting for a response and after a while the mission disappears from the map or he radios me to say forget it.
Do I need to confirm mission acceptance? And how do I do this? Radio comms (0, 0) is greyed out so can't do it that way...?!

Ed: Ah balls - just found it in the comms -> SecOps menu (0-8-2)

As mentioned, these are artefacts from streaming, LOD, shadow maps and z buffer accuracy.
Such is the price for detailed scenery + far draw distance + moving through world quickly + small load times.
As a games developer having wrestled with some of these issues, I know something about the tradeoffs required, and IMO think BIS have done an amazingly balanced job, especially with the streaming. Compare the load times with BF2 for instance!
[Ed] also note the horrendous issues on games like GTA4, which most people accept unblinkingly.

Having problems here too: I planted the satchel ('use' icon appeared when near the trailer), and it never appeared - as if it just disappeared into thin air...
