  1. ...buried deep in horse shit.

I hear that good things grow out of shit ;) - aka the philosophers stone ;)

I'm very sure BIS are up to their necks in code making this thing better each day - it is a pity that they won't address a few deeper issues that have plagued the game for some time (like getting into a helicopter online with someone with a *huge* ping ;)

Ah, well, time for my afternoon prayer for patch 1.3 ;)

  2. The information you're looking for is actually compiled from both of those sources.

First, place the Functions module in your mission then put the following in your init.sqf:

    waituntil {!isnil "bis_fnc_init"};
    [player] call bis_fnc_help;

    Tada!

Now, all that does is bring up the browser of the function code, it won't explain how to actually USE any of them. For that you'll need to read the code and figure it out, or hope someone smarter than us comes up with decent wiki pages. :)

    Yay! :) - i feel less idiotic!

  3. I had this in other games.

Usually, it looks like the computer is stuck in a tiny loop - this is a graphics card error when it gets too hot (time to clean the dust off your fans!).

Because this game is stressing your components to the max, you must check that your cooling and case are fine - and the main culprit here is the Gcard being furred up with dust and/or airflow problems.

Sometimes people think leaving the side off their case helps cooling - and it can actually NOT help as the air flow isn't going around the way it should inside the pc box.

After cleaning the fan on your gpu, make sure that cables are tidy inside the box so that air can move around. Also, if you have 3+ hard drives in your machine then consider just having 1 active (think of heat inside your box)

Make sure the box isn't near a wall and the air can escape freely.

Then make sure that your other cards inside your box are spaced away from the GPU if possible.

    Hope that helps!

If all this fails, it may be that your gpu has become faulty :(

  4. The coders are really hardcore for ARMA/OFP and even mods surrounding it - this is a real monster piece of software and will be worth the wait for ironing out bugs. Go play ARMA 1 for a bit to remind yourself what it's all about while the coders beat the living crap out the many issues :)

The Community bug tracker is a great example of how they see all the issues and you get to see what's being done - rather than being kept in the dark, we are shown *everything* that is going on.

If you think they are still messing about, goto a local bookstore and look though a few C++ books or something till you understand how hard all the stuff is :)

  5. ^ anything you would like to add to that? I notice you have shadows off, its at night, no PP. 290 fps is nice but aint gonna look too pretty.

And anyone posting a screen shot of FPS/SLI, turn on Sli Visual Indicators eh?

It's a day shot... don't know why it came out so dark :)

It doesn't look too shabby in game, i'll go get some screens

  6. Well, I've just done exactly what this post, http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1324488&postcount=14, said.

Lo and behold, the game is now playable. Gone are all the odd artefacts, I get solid, fast, performance across the board and most of the problems I originally cited are now gone. Textures are solid and consistent and ive not had a single lack of texture load problem.

Lack of AA is still right in your face but i'm now actually able to play the game as a fluid experience. Thumbs up from me...so far....

Dudes, leave your config alone (and the shortcut) if on vista64 - just delete the old config and take the steps listed in that link.

Basically you'll solve all your glitches with the roll back to 182.50 and the other stuff will give you fast fps so you can play while BIS refine this game...

It's not even a bodge fix, i'm finding i'm running around in game mouth agape and looking forward to each patch day and a cheaper second 295 in a year or two ;)

I get 140 fps in the opening screen, no lag in game with those fixes - stick your head in a bucket of water as you'll need a bit of focus to sort it :)

BTW : I only found this out recently, but Vsync is a card killer - disabling it means that your FPS isn't averaged - so instead of the engine going 60,59,58,57,etc when load increases - it goes - 60, 40, 30 ,20 = judders - so roll back driver, delete your cfg file, disable vsync and glhf :)

  7. Solved a few issues here:

    182.50 nvidia driver = GOOD - newer drivers = graphical grossness/flickering.

Leave default nvidia setting in the control panel BUT disable Vsync and the gtx flies :)

I tried with performance setting on the texture filtering and that helped also.

    Using the -maxmem=2047 -winxp

    i7 @ 4.00 D0 with Gtx295 on vista 64 - 6gig.

Get 140fps on intro screen - 30-44 in multiplayer

running at 1920*1040 (native) and 100% fillrate.

Hope that helps - the driver change reallY helped me get a better result.

Also remove your cfg file after making these changes and sort out the settings in game.

    Turn fraps OFF = W O W :)
