How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??
wobbly replied to mattyh1986's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I run the game okay and only have minor issues with rubber banding in multiplayer. However, I find you're statement a complete joke. To put your statement into an analogy............... I bought a brand new FORD. I get the keys and documents and walk out to the forecourt, unlock the car and get inside.....hmm, lovely new smell. I then insert the key into the ignition and fire it up.....awesome sound. I then try to adjust my seat and the mechanism doesnt work....bugger. It's just going dark and its raining so I turn on the lights and the wipers but the lights don't work and the wipers only work on intermittant. Never mind, I'm sure FORD will fix these niggles in a future recall of my motor. I then pull off while the ABS fault light on the dash keeps blinking its eye at me. The point is that beta testing and quality assurance should have ironed out all the bugs before release. It's absolutely unnaceptable to pay for a product that is broken, displaying many many major issues that the developer SHOULD have sorted before release. I'm a patient man but I do believe in delivering a quality product. Now I'm an aircraft technician who's trade it is to fix both airframes and engines. I'f I couldn't be arsed to fix everything properly before I released the aircraft to service then that would end up getting me imprisoned if it crashed. Now I know this isn't the same but BIS needs to get a grip of their QA and beta testing team and give them a good all round slapping!! -
Sadly its still the same mate and if anything its getting worse. We have taken to playing with a small group of friends from our community (www.game-veteran.co.uk) over a hamachi connection to prevent us from having to piss about ports etc. It works well with about 6 players on my connection and we have a good old laugh without any dickheads being able to spoil it. We are looking into getting a dedi server going and keeping it locked and inviting players on so that we have total control over who we play with. Ealier on in silent warriors server. I died 10 times and out of those 10 deaths I was t'ked about 8 times. When I asked if the ranks reset on map change I was called a dumb twat!! What a community!!

Same problem here. Sat on top of hill with nothing left to do. Just had a mate tell me he's stuck at the same point too.

System Windows Vista 64 ultimate fully patched Asus Formula Striker II Motherboard 8GB DDR2 1TB Samsung F1 HDD Palit Dual Sonic Radeon HD 4870 1 GB DDR3 Creative XFI Gamer Soundcard Intel Quad Core 9450 All drivers are up to date and since the patch the game has started crashing randomly. Also, it crashes everytime I lose connection to a server. 2 of my friends that have just got the game have similar specs (except they have the i7 cpu) seem to be having the same problems. What happens is Vista says "Arma 2 have stopped responding" or "Arma 2 has stopped working" Any pointers? Sorry that this is a whinge for my first post. Apart from that I love the game but just wish the plebs that seem to spoil the game by team killing at spawn points would just bugger off.

In reality the C130J has a good turning circle and if developers need to know the exact degree of movement that the nose wheel has then I will get it for you no probs. RAF C130J Technician (Mechanical (Engines & Airframes))

Nice one on getting the real C130J glass cockpit in game but what happened to the APU area of your model and the missing HF ariel/anti ice boot at the base of the fin? Realism needs a bit of attention to detail fellas The APU area of your model is the APU from a C130 K and not the J. And before any of you lot kick off I'm a c130J Mechanical (Propulsion and Airframe) tech in the RAF, hence why I'm being picky :) Notice where the apu exhaust is on the J? Up high not at the bottom of the APU bay where it is in ARMA 2. And note the base of the fin, it has a black anti ice boot/ HF ariel there which is not on any other varient of the c130. Just a bit of fun fellas about research and attention to detail thats all. If anyone would like to sort this out I would be able to provide photo's and even sound files form the engines etc from ground runs we do :bounce3:.

If you look at my initial post you will find it was aimed at being a bit tongue in cheek :icon_rolleyes: I know it has bugger all to do with anything in the game but thought it was funny that a game that wants to be authentic in each and every way might make an error on the skin they use on one of their models. Thats all.

I installed an apache hele yesterday and got insta kicked but it did actually tell me the file that was offending due to a key problem. I deleted it and all was well. ---------- Post added at 10:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 AM ---------- Don't forget Speedball, Chaos Engine, Populous and Turrican

Tanks fellas, I will try Kelly's Heroes servers when they are unlocked.
-
Please tell me what servers you are playing on because 90% of the ones Ive played on have loads of people back in the MOB team killing each other and shooting Heles out of the sky as they lift off. As for the hacking. Last night I was on a Frech server and suddenly all our characters started doing a crazy dance and up on the screen came "You have been hacked by the Dutch Blah Blah. Have it you French mofo's" Although it was absolutely hilarious when my fire team jumped up out of cover and all started doing a dance it does raise an eyebrow as to the securty of the software.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I just expected that the ARMA 2 community would be a more mature community but from my intial impression about 40 percent of people on each server I've visited are quite content to sit in their MOB team killing each other and shooting hele's down as they try to lift. I haven't seen that percentage of idiots playing a game for years :). I'm not taring everyone in the community with the same brush but I must admit that its got my anger level upto about 9.5/10.

Thanks Mark, glad it's not just me.

Yes it is hence the KC. Just because its got external tanks doesnt have to mean its a tanker. Our (UK) C130K's all have external fuel tanks fitted but none of them are tankers (Not anymore anyway). The external model in ARMA II is a C130K/E (I think the E has a similar APU setup as the J) with C130J props fitted to it but the internal is a J glass cockpit Note the external tanks!! The key differences are that the apu door on the J is a door can be opened in flight and is situated about head height and opens into the airflow. The exhaust sits above and to the rear of the intake. Now the one in ARMA 2....notice the apu intake's and Exhaust position just fwd of the main landing gear door. Thats an older K or other model but definately not a J Like I said earlier the J also have a big rubber anti ice boot fitted to the tailplane with a HF aerial fitted internally at the base of the tail fin. It also has dual pitot probs rather than the old single ones. It also has angle of attack vanes just above them on each side. Little differences that stick out and shows lack of research :)

The only external difference mate is the KC is a tanker and uses external tanks, we don't.

Can anyone thats is running XP of any sort confirm that its not only Vista users?

User Action If an error report was generated for this error, you might be able to obtain more information about the error by sending the report to Microsoft for analysis. What to expect Microsoft actively analyzes all error reports and prioritizes them based on the number of customers affected by the error signature contained in the report. When a report is submitted, Microsoft will try to determine the cause of the error, categorize it according to the type of issue encountered, and send you relevant information when such information is available. However, because error reports do not always contain enough information to positively identify the source of the issue, Microsoft may need to collect a number of similar reports from other customers before a pattern is discovered. Although Microsoft might not be able to provide a solution for your particular error at this time, all information submitted is used to further improve the quality and reliability of our products.
