  1. Unless it's always revving, even while at a stop, that's normal for a bike. It'll rev up, shift gears, and the engine is now running at a lower RPM. You keep going faster, and it revs up again until it shifts one more time. It's just more obvious on bikes than it is in cars.
  2. All my mods are still there. Steam doesn't touch any folders that it's not told to. As long as you haven't modified your primary game files, you should be good.
  3. Yep, I just jumped into DoW, and it was fixed. I restarted however, because I was wanting a slightly better outcome for when I get in there.

    1.03 Common Sense??

It's not a Valve/Steam game. You have to change the way the game works for it to use Steam copy protection. That won't happen. Nazul, what the hell? You can at least be a little more constructive with your criticism. And then what does this have to do with 1.03?
  5. I'll also confirm that if you pause your update, or reset your computer in the middle of an update, Steam doesn't reset your patch. When you continue patching, it continues from where it left off. The % you see is just what is LEFT of what you have to download. I made the mistake of pausing the update myself, and brought up the game thinking the update had resumed. I came back to realise that I had to start it again myself. XD I lost out on an hour and 1/2 on the update out of the about 8 total it took (6.5 of which was actual download)
  6. Thirdup: No, I mean the patch itself. I finished downloading it in about 10 minutes, then extracted from the .zip and ran the .exe. It extracts the files, then goes "Oops, sorry, you've got the Steam version. I won't even try updating." Complete patch failure.
  7. Nope, the download version available outright says that it WILL NOT work with steam. Bad way of doing it TBH. Would have worked better if you kept EVERYTHING the same between steam and retail versions. That way, people have the option to use patches instead of the steam auto-updater. Or just everything but the launch style used by steam. Then we don't have Steam users downloading the entire game again just to patch.
  8. So is Steam downloading everything? Or is it just clogged by everybody auto-updating? I canceled the auto-update (knowing that I can't play until I get it going again) and am trying patching first with the torrent THEN starting the Steam patch again. I'll reply when I find out if it sped anything up at all or if it didn't work.

    Chernarus Life (RPG)

The community is not the snobs, it is the developers. It doesn't matter that you are doing it via "donations", you are selling a product by using another commercial product. As per the EULA, you are legally NOT allowed to do this. If you want people to play the mission/mod more, allow other servers (who have shown interest in running it) to run the mission. Simply rely on your database access (or whatever the one guy has in mind) to keep people from "stealing" your code. CL:Ultimate has tons of potential, but it is limited by the constant crashing of your server.

    Moving your HQ (headquarters)

There is an option in the construction menu at base to "Mobilize MHQ" or somesuch. It takes money though...

    comms

It's useful if you don't have access to a server's vent/TS (or they don't have one). The default key is set to Caps Lock. There's some nifty features though. Like setting it to direct chat will make your character speak through their mouth. You can have conversations with people, or yell at someone to get their attention!

    Need Aircraft Advice.

When you're locked on something, the box shows up with the target type. A circle means that if you launch now, your missile/bomb will hit (unless there's a building or tree in the way). Sadly, the Mk82 in Arma2 has a guidance package on it, when it's just an iron bomb. Lock, find the circle, and dump. Boom goes the tank. Makes the UGB harrier godly in domination.
  13. I got lucky and the sniper decided to get off his perch and run in front of me while I was about to go into the complex. If only there was MORE going on in the city. I always seem to take the easy route, right along the industrial plex's wall.
  14. No seriously, keep playing. Ruining the spoiler will just ruin it for you. It was one of the better points in the game for me. Until just after that where they force you to do something you probably don't want to.
  15. The f-16 is a modded airplane, and with the exception of the F-35, none of the aircraft are supersonic-capable. Maybe the SU-34 too. But neither of those have afterburners, and the only current RL-supercruise craft are the Typhoon and F-22. Neither of those are in the game. So no, you can't see planes break the sound barrier.

    ARMA 2 Ammo Types?

Ah, looked like you were answering an editing question. My Bad! And are you sure you haven't tried going through the action menu ( [, ], or mousewheel to scroll through) for "reload ___ mag" ? JUST TESTED!!! It does not allow you to fire standard STANAG rounds through a suppressed weapon like the M4A1 CCO SD. Someone with RL firearms knowledge could probably answer exactly why, but I'm guessing something about blowing out the suppressor.

    ARMA 2 Ammo Types?

err...Taurus...wrong post? Most guns come with their respective ammo. Some though, mainly the western guns, all use the same ammo and magazine well. Thus, you can use magazines from the G36 or the STANAG magazines in the G36, M4, M16, M8, or any other standard western AR. That even means putting an MG36 magazine on an M4 or SPR. Too bad it doesn't make it look like there's a beta mag on there. The other difference is Suppressed rounds. These are denoted with "SD" at the end of the magazine name (STANAG SD, AK SD). The difference being that SD rounds are usually subsonic compared to supersonic standard rounds. You can fire SD rounds through a standard gun that normally uses standard ammo, or normal rounds through a suppressed weapon. But because they move slower, SD rounds have a shorter effective range. Expect to be limited to about 50 meters less than you are used to, and expect to use more rounds to kill someone. Finally, using standard rounds (STANAG vs STANAG SD) in a suppressed weapon means that, despite the suppressor, your shots are going to be about as loud (though not as loud) as a standard rifle. Standard rule of thumb is to use whatever type of magazine your gun comes with, until you have no choice but to switch or run out of ammo. G36 = STANAG (someone have some hard details to the differences between the two? G36 SD = STANAG SD All of them fit into the western rifles. Also note that you can switch magazines through the action menu, allowing you to take different magazines if you so wish. PS: Forgot to mention, that the STANAG is the standard 5.56mm x 45 used by the US military in the M16, M4, or AR-15.

    Suppression mode

if you hold ALT when you use the command menu, it brings up a few extra options.

    Weapon Wishlist

An addon system ala Crysis. That way, you buy/grab a gun, and bring up a customization menu to add different things onto the different rails. M4A1 for example. *Top sight rail (reflex, red dot, holo, acog) *Bottom RIS (Grenade launcher, flashlight, visible laser sight) *Side RIS (IR laser, flashlight, visible laser) Then your magazines switch out too. Currently, you can load an MG36 magazine onto anything using the standard STANAG setup. But! It still shows the default magazine on there. For the above, this might be something that's accessed though a menu in your profile. But the mags are just whatever is actually loaded. This would allow people like me, who enjoy using the Holo sight on the M4+GL to use it on the M16 or just a standard M4. Same deal for camo options.

A-10s wont use their main gun

Yeah, that's ONE round at a time. The A-10 spits out 50 rounds per second at 3000rpm (rough estimate). That's akin to being shot with one paintball in the back, versus being shot with 100. One won't do much more than maybe give you a welt. 100 will split your back open and cause great pain. Reactive armor is designed to explode and deflect explosions. The only other armor on tanks and ground vehicles is ceramic plates and maybe 2" of steel in certain areas. Once a ceramic plate is shot, it's useless. Now throw another 49 into roughly the same area and you get a lot of damage. Bonus points if your aim runs rounds through the cannon mount or magazine. And I like how the thread has gone from "how can I make A-10s use their guns instead of..." to "the GAU-8 IS teh shiz! you lie!" and "help! my rudder doesn't work right!"

    How to man construction defense?

You can buy an AI, tell it to get on the MG, then disband it. The AI will still be around, and it will still man the gun, but it won't be in your squad.

A-10s wont use their main gun

The round using in the GAU on the A-10 is not 30mm. It's 1.5" of depleted uranium in diameter, roughly 6" long, and coming out of the barrels at 3000rpm (I've got a "trophy'd" round+casing right in front of me). The plane was built around the gun (which hasn't been done before it or after) and a ground attack role. It's a BIG bullet, and you're mistaken if you say that the kinetic damage alone isn't enough to rip a tank in half. I think that the power in the gun is more than that in the rockets (which I view more as infantry killers due to their explosive radius) against tanks. It would be nice to see the AI using their guns, and a couple of improvements in the flight model to help with players' aim. Notably the use of rudders while moving more than 90km/h. Planes unfortunately, were designed in the game to be support assets for the infantry and not used as primary strike assets against enemy vehicles and fortifications without the help of ground forces.

How does the laser designator work?

Perfectly said. Also note: The laser designator ONLY gives pilots something to lock onto with GBUs or helfires. It DOES NOT call in an airstrike. Even on missions with CAS as a support, you have to call it in first and then designate the target for your fighters to drop their bombs. And sometimes, the dot isn't red, but Infra-red (as in RL). You can only see it through your NVGs. So just trust that you turned it on sometimes. Also of note: If you move the laser, the bomb follows. Useful for hitting moving tanks. Just don't move it too far or to somewhere that the bomb won't be able to see.

    Campaign Weapons

The Manhattan "armory" is directly behind the commander's table. The sandbags are in a big H with netting over top. After talking to Shaftoe, go around the side of his little spot, and turn around. It's under the camo netting behind the UAV terminal with a big steel box in the middle of it. The guns are in the crates around the box.

    City management

To capture a town, you have to capture the main big bunker in the center. I'd also recommend letting the AI command until you have a feel for what is happening. It does a decent job at doing diddly squat :P. Also, if the AI has taken even one small bunker in a town, you can't fast travel there anymore. It gets annoying trying to keep your squaddies in-line and all the bits and pieces of your squad running. There's many details that are either missing (UAV terminal, radar, working airfields, etc.), not explained (how do you order your AI squads to go capture something like the AI commander does? and why do all the ai squads get a billion dollars while you have 500?), or just broken (buying a unit from the town bunkers). Many, many, many things that need fixing. Hopefully, someone will be able to make a superpowers-like mission with all the bells and whistles available plus some of the extras in crcti Warfare. Unfortunately, that isn't going to be me.
