Try the Canadian branch of 505 Games

I don't think they keep any logs of what Key go's with what serial number, so it's either find the case or buy another copy. Alternatively you could buy just the key from one of the CDKey selling sites but I wouldn't suggest it as I'm not sure which ones are actually legit.

I think it'd be better if it was more obvious why the game is having issues due to piracy/cracks. Something more definitive than "original games do not fade", something more like, "Ha, you can't aim for $*#@ because you pirated this game.... Original games do not fade", splashed in big letters all over the screen.

I suggest making sure your motherboard drivers are up to date. A mixup between the the CPU/Hard drive/graphics card can give an error that seems like it's only related to the graphics card (out of memory being out of texture memory on your graphics card) Of course it could also be something in the BIOS. There's many options in BIOS that are often changed for overclocking purposes that can cause instability in data transfer (basically the system keeps sending texture data to the video memory and due to sync issues through the BIOS, everytime the graphics card sends a message back to tell it to stop sending data the message is lost so more data is sent)

Putting Arma 2 in the exception list of the firewall wouldn't stop the firewall from blocking incoming ICMP (I believe windows 7 firewall does it by default) You can disable windows firewall temporarily to test if that's the problem, alternatively if you want to disable Windows ICMP blocking then : Open up an administrator mode command prompt by right-clicking and choosing Run as Administrator, or type cmd into the start menu search box and then use Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Then type "netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 enable" without quotation marks If you want to disable it, just type "netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 disable" Just be cautious. The reason it blocks ICMP's (pings) by default is because people can use it to cause a Denial of Service attack to block your computer from the internet (of course restarting your computer or modem resets it back to normal so not a major problem) Of course disabling the firewall to test first is the best option before doing anything rash. Out of curiousity, what modem model are you using?

Check your router and Windows Firewall to make sure they are not blocking incoming ICMP's, also make sure the correct port numbers are forwarded on your routers firewall.

Odd thing today. One of my mates wants to buy it but he didn't want to get the Steam version so while I was at the shops I decided to check the local games stores to see if it was cheap anywhere. Went into JB Hifi and couldn't see any PC games so I asked where the PC games section went and got, "We don't stock PC games anymore. It's a fading format and not profitable to stock them", fortunately it only seems to be the one store that's decided to take that route.

The one problem I've got with the series is that they seem to blur over too much. I know they can't fit everything in the series but there's a lot of Tom Hanks narrating the full on emotional stuff about them going through hell, losing people to disease, etc, etc, all in about 2 mins then skipping to "here they are after all that stealing some supplies off the Army" It kinda feels like it's missing large chunks. Especially as the battle of Guadal Canal was crammed into 2 episodes and a few skirmishes. I guess effectively it was the same with BoB as it pretty much pushed the whole campaign into short parts, but it's more obvious with The Pacific and you kind of feel like you're missing out on a large part of the story.

Disgusting mouse acceleration
Bulldogs replied to t1337Dude's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Go into nVidia control panel and force V-sync off. Also set your Max-PreRenderedFrames to 1 If it feels like performance is lacking when turning and aiming you can change the Floating point zone under game settings. The higher you put it the more your weapon will move around before you turn. If you disable it then your weapon will stay in place like a normal FPS. -
Internet browser messed up - new video card
Bulldogs replied to Alex72's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Looks like a common image corruption. Although with that usually minimizing and maximizing fixes it. Try going to Microsoft website and update/reinstall internet explorer. Also try going to control panel > system > advanced > performance, and change everything to high performance, then test it out, then put it back to normal performance. -
Why is my legit Steam game fading?
Bulldogs replied to nuggetz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It's likely that your exe has become corrupt. First try delete your arma2.exe in the arma 2 directory under steam, then try run the game from steam. If that doesn't fix it then.. Goto steam, my games, and right click on arma 2 then choose properties. Then goto local files then click verify local cache. Bare in mind that this will take a while, especially if you have patch 1.05 installed. After the operation is done you'll have yo reapply patch 1.05 -
Sorry to go slightly OT but I hate when people use "light years" as a measurement of time, being that a light year and a year are the same amount of time and a light year is actually a measurement of distance light can travel in a year.... ... and the server browser still takes light years to load for me. Another odd thing, yesterday every server was giving me a ping of 13-70 which was sweet, now I'm getting 150-300 on the same servers, yet every other game runs at non-changed ping. I thought it was just a lag in the server browser but I've had several times when I load someone full of bullets then they kill me, then they drop dead and I get a kill. Still, I'm sure the problems will be ironed out soon enough.

Mr 2000 posts has it right in my opinion. It all comes down to what you like and want. I paid AU$55 for Arma 2 but personally I would have paid another AU$200 'cause I feel it's worth it, while at the same time I feel that paying AU$90 for MW2, AU$80 for Bioshock 2, AU$90 for Borderlands, are all extremely over priced. But that's just me. If you don't enjoy what you get from ArmA 2 then obviously you'd feel ripped off, just as I did when I bought those other games and ran out of interest with them after 1 week (2 weeks for Borderlands)

My guess is that you didn't have time to wait for the server browser to load. My copy finally arrived yesterday and haven't had much time to play multiplayer (finished singleplayer at my friends place but never bothered playing multiplayer) but other than some annoying niggles it's quite excellent. Of course the niggles being that they haven't fixed the multiplayer browser from BF2. That being that if you want to search for a quick game (join now) without browsing, you can't choose ranked or PB only matches. The second problem being that if you do go to the normal server browser, then hit search, make a cup of coffee, watch a TV show, do some gardening and by the time you come back it should have almost loaded your servers. (this problem has been since BF2 that it has to query the master server list which has to update each time you ask, so if you live far from the master servers like say, Australia, then it's very slow) Of course after it has loaded the server list you see a bunch of games that have slots open so you click to join those games only to get a 10 second pause before "Server currently full". The one difference they seem to have put in place since BF2 is that if you don't manage to enter a server within a few minutes then it decides to auto-update again, this time taking 3 times longer to update (and sometimes it just sits on updating forever). I still can't understand why the battlefield games are the only ones that have this horrible problem. The first time I played though I decided to use the "join now" option rather than waiting for the server browser, and I had to hit "join now" 12 times because each time it would return with "server currently full", but eventually when I did get in I was getting destroyed. I couldn't do a single thing but spray and pray before getting destroyed. My K/D ratio was at 2:13. I thought that I had lost all skill til I noticed it was a no PB server, so I went back and found a PB only server and sat on that for hours slaughtering everyone with ease (and by that I mean coming around the mid area) Overall, other than the annoying browser issues it's a heck of a lot of fun.

ATTN NOOBIES! - New to ArmA II or OA - Here's the place for your questions

When you approach a ladder, scroll the mouse wheel and you should see and option for "Climb Down", alternatively it should come up for you to select with middle mouse wheel when you look at the ladder. -
I should add that the show isn't exactly the best judgement of anything. It's a fun show but it only takes into account the factors that it wants to take into account. So it's not likely it's an accurate scale of realism, I was more concerned about the flood of responses with complete disbelief that America weren't number 1 at everything. Anyways, as I said, derailing the thread a bit too much. Back to word about my... umm.. about Arma 2's awesomeness.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Bulldogs replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING

The original plan for DLC releases were to be eipsodic, in that the initial release is meant to be cheaper than a normal release then each episode costs a sum. I believe Sin was the game that attempted to pioneer it (except that lack of popularity killed it before it really started) Now days games companies are taking the route of, release a game at full price then charge more on top of it for DLC, and that's just rediculous in my view, but if people buy it then they'll keep doing it. One prime example of recent is Borderlands. I bought borderlands when it was first released at AU$55, now it's around AU$90 on steam plus the price of DLC on top of it. That's just overboard and the reason why I won't buy DLC unless the game is a reasonable price to begin with.

Not to drag it too off topic but a couple of the comments in this thread reminded me of Ultimate warrior (I think that was the name of the show), the had an episode of Russian Spetsnatz Vs US SpecOps (Green Beret) and the Spetsnatz won, to which they had to get the specialists back and discuss why it happened because they were flooded with hate mail about how many people believed there was no way a US soldier could be beaten by a Spetsnatz. In retain the US soldier had to explain that the stats were correct, to which he blurred it a little and gave every excuse he could think of as to why the US didn't win, but admitted that people underestimate the Spetsnatz as they're one of the best forces in the world. One point they did bring up though is that it was a very broad thing, being that Green Beret is a section of the US special forces and the Spetsnaz is the Russian spec ops as a whole, but they had to do it that way because people get confused by the different Spetsnaz sections due to them not being hollywood sold. Anyways, back to your viewing...

I was about to mention that. Stalker cs and warhead don't support dx 11, only dx 10. It sounds like you don't have a dx 11 card. The only ones on the market right now are the ati 5xxx. I like the checkpoint system kindof. I hate quick save and save where you want in games, and I guess that's what I like so much about metro. Sneaking along freaking put at every sound 'cause you don't know when it's going to save it. But as I said before, it has the massive downside of being under fire and running to find cover only to see the autosave a couple of seconds before you die. Graphics and lighting wise I haven't seen anything close to it, but as such it can run aslow in some areas, and the characters can feel like a weak point as they're a little too cartoony.

Not sure. There are the arrows that fire from a neumonic gun (that I found on a crate near the frontlines, six barreled weird thing) that are really effective if you get a head shot but you go through ammo fast on them (fortunately you can recover your arrows from the walls and such) Other than that I'm not sure.

Hey look at that. Steam price just went up to $90 again. Guess someone read some good reviews. BTW, try playing the game with just the knife and go hellman... it's a lot of fun (and in some sections it's easier than trying to shoot everyone)

If you post this in the mission section along with your uncompiled mission some of the talented mission editors should be able to help you. -
ArmA2 won't install, wheel2.pbo error
Bulldogs replied to Neutron2's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What Placebo said. Try updating your firmware, and if that fails, see if you can borrow someone elses DVD drive, or just buy a new one since if updating the firmware doesn't fix it then your drive is possibly on it's way out. -
I was talking to the guys at my local EB and they said that they've had to give refunds on most of the Assassins Creed 2 copies they sold due to faulty software. Apparently there's a flaw in the system that if you get a big enough lag spike (which is every 5 mins for most Aussies, not enough to be noticeable normally but enough to interrupt the connection to the servers), you don't get disconnected, instead the game re-establishes the connection to the servers which takes a few seconds, in which time the game glitches. The glitches vary but usually you'll end up stuck in a wall, or floating, or invisible. There's no autocorrection in the game or software so once it starts glitching you have to restart the game. On a good day you could play for 30 mins, but most of the time you're lucky to get 10 mins of play without a restart. I think it mainly only effects people a good distance from their local exchange but it's still pretty unacceptable.
