I guess its a matter of convenience and location. My PC is in my office where I work (I work from home), my consoles are hooked up to a projector in my media room. Who knows what spec the next gen consoles will be and if they are capable of playing a future version of Arma and are capable of having peripherals plugged in (keyboard/mouse/joystick etc) then personally I don't care - it would be nice to play Arma on my projector.I suppose the question is 'what is a console' - at the end of the day it's just a PC in a box, the same as a PC. They are just smaller and tend to have less cutting edge technology.
Bottom line for me really is that as long as the game isn't compromised to play on a future generation 'console' then I am all for it.
My PC is connected to the projector, with a couch and a special table. You can play perfectly with keyboard and mouse , even lying down ;)
A few of old photos, today is a 1080p proyector

But I know this is not the solution for everyone. People need something more simple than a custom table . There is a interesting table to use mouse and keyboard in the couch in Ikea , "Dave" table , but is a bit small .

Bohemia Interactive and Got Game Entertainment announce their partnership for ARMA II's North American release. -
i believe that the VRAM usage depends greatly on the filtrate - the resolution of the render in 3d . i believe that you can use only for the render - no textures - 400 or 500 MB of VRAM , at high resolution and filtrate 200
I was able to take pictures with 1080p and very high , filtrate 200 in a 8800 GTX 768MB, only some problems with the delay in the loads in some textures. With filtrate 100 , no problems ;)

I used this tool with Arma 2. You can go to the Windows desktop, change the settings and return.

First , turn off the settings for the FXAA - there is FXAA in game in some addons of Arma 2 and also in the last drivers of Nvidia , more advanced and ajusted with Arma 2 - . Also turn off HDR, the bloom, the Technicolor and color correction to work properly and only use the sharpening settings and the tonemap. So you can change subtly shapening and the tonemap and near to art style of the game . Then if you want to make bigger changes can try the HDR, the bloom, the Technicolor and color correction but overall the results are greatly exaggerated.
Sorry for my english lenguage mixed of my knowledge and google translation :)
Screens - only with sharpening and tonemap tweaked -
