  1. Or for the love of bob, give us some brittish troops. -K
  2. How about *gasp* adopting a mechanic from practically all other first person shooters: The longer you 'hold' the fire button, the further the grenade flies. Bingo: Skill-based trainable grenade throwing. -K

    Types of Warheads

Excellent rundown manberries. I learned something here. -K
  4. Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality. - Jules de Gaultier Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive one; it is man and not materials that counts - Mao Tse-Tung The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy. - Friedrich Nietzsche Any tool is a weapon if you hold it right. - Ani Difranco The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter. - Mark Twain NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again. - The Spanish Inquisition I think we've got plenty.

    Holo gunsight...utter pap?

Plenty of games do that already CarlG. Look to red orchestra for one, and certain Half-life mods for others. -K
  6. and stop bouncing like rubber-balls for that matter. -K
  7. Not to mention they were a handy bit of community-cake to keep people interested. I wonder if it will continue at the same weekly pace now that Opf2 has actually been released. -K
  8. Definitely. Come to think of it on all other issues BIS has practically a perfect track record for fixing previous bugs/errors. Sarcasm end. -K
  9. Victory! YES. Will try once I get back home. I thought it was broke forever. Does anyone honestly use the "left-click" to attack functionality? In my experience it just ends up with a dead AI. -K

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

yes... xbox360s on the table... but are they switched on is the real question? -K

    real problems with A.I

If anything I've noticed an INCREASE in performance when playing around with multiple groups of AI. In the betas that is. -K
  12. Exactly this. I think 'MicroAI' is perhaps a step in the wrong direction, where they should just have implemented 4-5 "stances" as formalized in ShakTacs tactical guide. - K

    Arma2vsOFPDR

I smell fire, and it should probably be moved to Offtopic. Besides which alledged version of Ghost Recon is it supposed to look like again?

    Question about stability?

Don't get dissapointed by the online community or AI in singleplayer game. What you want to look for to truely experience ARMA2 in all its glory are the various semi-closed clans that run periodic coop or adversarial scenarios. Arma2 is a beautiful game, it has many features, but also many errors that have carried over through each edition of the game. To enjoy arma2, concentrate on the stuff that works, and let the pink happy mist of alcohol/nostalgy cover everything else. - K edit: Not unlike wolle I had my first Arma2 crash earlier today and I bought it at relase-day. It was in multiplayer and I put it down to server scripts or whatnots.

    Favourite Infantry class

I prefer the Rocker... albeit it needs to be modded with a Quiff and psychobilly t-shirt! yeah!

M4A1 SD mods for scopes ?

Come to think of it.... Am I wrong in my assumption that If you load 5.56-SD mags into a M16A4+Acog combination your shots will to the AIs ears be suppressed? The sound will certainly not change, but the way the AI discerns/reads the bullets is. -K Sounds like I just discovered the new next ultimate replacement for the DMR :P
  17. Which leaves me much with a preference such as galzohar describes. I'd love to see more games run using a "last man standing" or "Round based" (no respawn) type games. Small, but sharp conflict zones. Using as highly thematic locations as possible. One or two objectives. Or just a single objective, but with bonuses for completing secondary goals. Assymetric Forces. None of this "all is equal" nonsense. 15-25 minute playtime for a map. 3-6 minutes per life. - K To date the most fun game of Arma2 I've played was a DM game set in a CQB environment. :p Why? Because making kills or surviving was CONSEQUENTIAL to the outcome (my personal score) Anyone who things Deathmatch is just a random frag-fest needs to open his eyes.
  18. Yes, and yes. I've been thinking the same thing(s). Personally I prefer small short and sharp missions. I like missions that have realistic objectives, that allow you to command small elements of no more than 6 or so soldiers. (the maximum I'm comfortable with) Unfortunately Arma2 has changed commanding infantry quite a bit since Arma1 or even Operation Flashpoint. Whereas the former games had merely cumbersome interface, this latest one marries cumbersome interface with non-responsive troops. I'm not sure if this is 'micro-AI' interfering with my troops, but the AI has time and time again proven utterly incapable of engaging targets with any sense. -K
  19. Any bugfixes or features of consequence? - Grenade Launcher shooting by AI - Streamlining of control interface; which has tons of redundant buttons and presented terribly. - revision of the AI interface; which has seen no changes to accommodate post-Iraq warfare. - Vehicles and damage; 9mms can kill tanks :P - etc etc 'new units' really mean nothing if the way the are utilized isn't updated.
