  1. I love this game too, but i've noticed a few of these bugs myself. Also it's all too easy miss-click and have your AI team all stand up when in fact you wanted them to target a tank, and the outcome is obvious. As far as the pilots are concerned, they are really bad. BIS seem to have imroved the AI pathfinding in ground vehicles to a certain extent but even that can be laughable sometimes, and as soon as you add the 'z' dimension and obstacles then it becomes a case of... 'Ask for transport' 'Take a knee' 'Remove bible from pocket' and pray that the pilot makes it from the base. There should be an added dialogue where the chopper pilot responds with "Er... Yeah.. Roger that. I.. er.. have to warn you though, it's my first time in a helichopper." Followed by "Yeehaw" I think BIS even covered this in some of the dialogue for one of the campaign missions where you are on your way to the LZ in the AI chopper and the pilot says something about the landing being tricky. rather than the pilot being stoned.

Add to that the AI controller of the UAV. on a couple of occasions i've had to restart one of the campaign missions and sit through loads of dialogue including "You can use the UAV" only to find that in the 5 seconds it takes to get to the UAV trailer it's ditched in the forest!

Other than the 'Move' bug i've found the infantry AI to be excellent. I haven't experienced any of what you've said other than through the ropey command system.

I wondered what that pm was all about! Seemed pretty random but thanks all the same. I'll check it out.

Still looking for good servers. The problem with the few that people recommend on here, is that they fill up and stay full a lot of the time. I'll keep trying though. Heard lots of good things about Kelly's heroes. I think that's why it's always full.

  3. So you had a great multiplayer experience but you still want your money back? Get a grip. Even full of bugs (apparently. I've not encountered that many) this game has made my entire PC games catalogue redundant. I'm a huge Fallout 3 fan but even that seems meh in comparison.

  4. I downloaded the demo on steam and fileplanet and both versions the sound doesn't work everything else works great just the sound. Can someone help me plz. thanks alot :)

System Specs- Vista Ultimate 64 bit

    Intel Core 2 Extreme Q6850

    8800 ultra

    4gb ram

Posting details of everything but your sound card isn't going to help when you're asking for assistance on a sound issue.

  5. ATI radeon HD 2600XT

Is there any reason i cant run this?

    Yup.

Remember a game called Crysis? When it came out everyone whined about the system specs being so high that it would put loads of people off playing it. If BIS had made Arma2 with graphics so sub par that any computer could run it maxed out, then this forum would be overrun with 'Why aren't the graphics better' or 'I've got a new gaming rig and this game looks like crap and runs at 500 frames per second'

Instead we get a game that pushes our PCs to the limit, and one that will grow with our systems and look better and better with age.

P.S. Only now am i able to run Crysis maxed out with AA & AF maxed. it looks amazing. It's just a shame that i've played through it so many times that i have no inclination to do it again. This isn't (and never will be) an issue with Arma 2.

  6. hi, do you know if arma2 will support my computer:

XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2

    Processor: Intel® Core2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs)

    Memory: 1024MB RAM

    Card name: WinFast PX9800 GT(NVIDIA)

Was all you needed to post.

CPU and GFX card should be fine, though don't expeect to run it maxed. You really need more memory for an enjoyable experience though.

EDIT: and install service pack 3!!

  7. Torrent file is broken, can't unrar it :( Redownloading from steam...uh another 3 hours.

In your client with the torrent stopped, click 'Force re-check' and wait, if there's anything wrong with the downlad it will pick it up and restarting the torrent will correct it for you. (maybe a bad segment)

@ Placebo. Kudos for nannying this thread, you've got your work cut out on this forum today;)

  8. Pentium 4 - 2.9 Ghz

    3 Gig SD Ram

    ATI Sapphire 2600 HD 512mb

    Windows XP Sp3 :p:p

I was  until i saw your specs:D I loved my P4 but GTA4 forced my big upgrade (everything basically due to AGP GFX card) but i stretched my 3.0 P4 to 3.6 with a stock cooler and i also had XP. If you've got the time and patience, there's an awesome XP guide on Tweakguides site. I stripped the crap out of my XP and managed to run Crysis on all medium with a lot better frame rate than you're getting with a lesser GFX card (ATI X1950 pro 512) which i bought for £90 and sold 9 months later for £15 less:cool: You can sqeeze more out of your rig. P4s love being pushed. Just don't do it all in one go and it'll make a noticable difference to your game.

  9. I much prefer the way it is compared to having grass that you just move 'through' it was a bit weird at first bu i like the idea os slow crawling when prone and knocking the next layer of grass down just enough to see over it. Though at distance it's meaningless because the grass isn't there. So whilst you're skillfully moving carefully through the grass you're actually stuck out like a sore thumb. That's why Arma2 has trees;)

  10. Hi, the game is great. Buy it! The missions are just down to the person who made them, You can have any combination of what you asked, the AI can be friendly or enemy or neither, you can play anywhere on the map and the insertion point is down to the mission you are on. It really is limitless! The scope of this game is constantly amazing and really daunting when you first jump in, but i urge you to give it a go.

  11. I run a Q6600 and a GTX260 black edition on Vista 64 with 4 GB ram and the game runs great, a little less great in the middle of a big battle but nothing to worry about and still completely playable on all high settings, 100% fillrate 2k draw distance at 1280x1024 and 1920x1080 when i get the telly to myself. The resolution doesn't seem to make any difference though i'm not one of these people who constantly monitors frame rates. As long as it's playable it's good enough for me, and i'm more than happy with the performance of this game.

  12. Wait for the demo. you need a pretty well specced laptop to run the game. Also don't just assume that because you can run round in a field on your own that the game will be anything like playable when it kicks off. If it struggles then it's going to fall to pieces in a battle.

As regards the bugs, considering the scope of the game, i think it's pretty bug free. BIS did an awesome job so if you can run it, don't worry about them.

  13. Please take it a notch or two down, on both sides of the fence. Flaming new members is no more contributing towards a constructive way of handling certain game concerns, than said members barging into the room with a bucket full of complaints, unfound or not.

No he's not. BIS devs can be recognised by their title and avatar.

    <- Like that one there.

    My bad. Noted. thanks.

  14. I think the game is pretty bug free considering the scope of it, though i agree that it's like chipping away at an iceberg with a plastic spoon when you first jump online (there's no instant gratification here) and i also agree that there's scant information regarding the game modes leading to a lot of the servers being full of people not knowing what to do. What we really need is some noob servers with people willing to help and answer questions. In the mean time however i can help you with a couple of your points.

You said you could buy equipment from the base where you spawned. If you look around there may be a light/heavy vehicles factory to get yourself some wheels and possibly a barracks to get some team mates who you can send into the fray (rather than taking all the bullets yourself). you say that you saw many people AFK. Are you sure they weren't just prone and busy on the map screen commanding their troops? I thought the exact same as you when i started on one of the servers last night. It was only my second game and my first in that game mode. i wondered what was going on and hit the deck thinking the enemy must be close if everyone's prone:D Shortly after i was gifted a couple of grand by the my Co and spent the best part of three hours in the game with out moving more than a few meters inbetween tents and garages to kit my guys out. It was very satisfying and like playing an RTS. I had much fun:cool:

Bear in mind that this is just one of many game modes and a lot of people new to the game will be in the same boat as you so the only thing i can suggest is to find a server where you can get some help that has a game mode you like and get stuck in. It's really the best way to learn. I read a post on here that someone was going to do an introduction to Arma 2 on their server. it's a brilliant idea and if there's another one then i'll defo pop in for some schooling:D

  15. Not at all. He's representing the company.

Anyway these posts are all way off topic and fairly pointless. Alex has stated his position and i tend to agree that having something you are involved in bashed and having to answer the same questions over and over again is enough to grind anyone's gears, i just think the language is unacceptable, especially when the mods like to call others for not being grown up.

Done and dusted anyway. Now can i have a manual, why is my game not English, and why's there no AA in th... J/K'ing:D

We are all just happy to be able to play Arma2.
