KKlownboy - My view distance is set at 1600 and vsync is switched off. Also, I do know that this intel dual core is faster, but I am talking about AMD here. This problem isn't only something I have either, many other people are experiencing the same thing and asking why?

Did you read what I said? I said that my Dual core was the quickest one I could get. Please show me another dual core that is quicker then the one I have. The Amd x 2 series may be getting old, but there isn't really the need for quad cores just yet. Not many games support quad core, so they are just a waste of money in my eyes. They are only good for things like video editing at present, so it's daft to throw vast amounts of money away to play the few games that support it. You seem to know what you are talking about and for me this makes the game alot worse then I first thought. How can it be a very good selling point for this game, if we all need quad cores to have any hope of playing this at a reasonable pace? Not many games out there are taken advantage of the quad cores yet and for that reason not alot of people have purchased them. I would also bring into question what is written on the back of this games box, it states "AMD Athlon 64x2 4400+," as been an "Optimal Requirement!" So why write this on the back of the box when the game plays like a pile of crap with these specs? Isn't that a bit like someone telling you a car is in good condition, when he knows for a fact the engine is half knackered.

Why is my CPU a bottleneck? I do believe the "Amd64 x 2 dual core 6400+ 3.21 GHz," the fastest dual core out there? And on the back of the Arma 2 box, under optimal requrements, it says: "Amd athlon 64 x2 4400+ or faster." Also, I heard that Arma 2 doesn't really use the quad core like you think it does - But ok, I am willing to go and get a different cpu, so which one would you recommend? Like I said already, I believe I have the fastest dual core already, so are we talking quad core here? It's just I have lost count of the number of people on these forums that say increasing your resolution leads to a lower frame rate. Why do they say these things when in my case the fps remain just the same? There are that many people saying that many different things on this forum that it's hard to work out the good advice from the bad.

Well you could hold the key to sorting out alot of people's problem's, if you are getting the frame rates you say you are getting. Like I mentioned in my previous post it does'nt matter what settings I choose, high/low, my frame rate never gets past 29fps. The specs of my computer are listed below, but it might help if you list what setting you are using to get these incredible fast frame rates. Also, are you sure you are talking about maps like Evolution that have ai on them and not just hold maps? One other thing I think I should mention, I run the game at 1920 x 1200 resolution, because I have tried lower resolutions and it doesn't make any difference to the frame rate I get. Windows Vista 32 bit, but also tried windows 7 with same result. Asus crosshair motherboard. Amd64 x 2 dual core 6400+ 3.21 Ghz. Geforce 260 Gtx. monitor 26" IIyama. 4gig Ram. Audigy gamer soundcard. HardDrive, Western Digital 600GB.

What I don't understand is that I cannot get above 29 Fps on maps that have Ai. No matter what resolution or setting I change the frame rate never gets past 29Fps. Can someone tell me if the frame rate is somehow set never to go above this 29 Fps? I would also like to know if Bis are looking at ways that will give us a better frame rate. It wouldn't be so bad if it remained at the 29 Fps mark, but mine drops down to as low as13 fps.

Would be for me to if I could get more then 13-25 Fps. How many Fps are you getting? I am just curious since you say the game is perfect.

The rest probably went straight back to the shop -LOL. I cannot belive you went to them sites and counted them -Lmao. Maybe they stopped selling them once they realised the game has had a big price drop since it's launch. Ok, I shouldn't have used the secondhand sales on ebay and amazon as a guide to how well the game is doing. I guess what I should of done is ask someone to count the number of complaints in these forums instead - Do feel free to do this if you feel up to such a task. When I get a steady frame rate of no less then 35Fps I will be a happy bunny. I played this game last night and got just 13-24 Fps and that's with all the tweaks on here that people have suggested. Seriously, if this game drops anymore frame rates then it will be like looking at a photo album.

Bullfrogs - My game has been running like crap since day one. My eyes were the first thing to see just how bad the game played. I then used Fraps to confirm that it was the Fps that were crap. Please don't start blaming fraps now it's a good enough program for most gamers.

Google a program called "fraps", Install it and run it before you start the game. Also, you say you have the game running smooth without testing the Fps - LOL

Yes don't get your panty pants in a twist after just 3 posts. I have tried so many of these fixes now and realised that most of them are just pants... Meaning they just don't work. I was on a sever tonight and was down to just 13 - 24 Fps. Just a few Fps lower and the game would have been a photo.

I loved Ofp and OfpR, I played both of these games for months and even years. Arma 1, played for about 3 weeks, far to many problems with it so gave up on it very quickly. Now it's the turn of Arma 2, and to be honest, I haven't played it yet - Or atleast I don't feel like I have. Yes I have purchased it, but it has so many problems I find it totally unplayable. Maybe I can give a better account of it if they can fix it soon. That doesn't make much sense where I come from.

Unless that character in the pic is Kojak and a skin complaint, then I would say you have a graphics problem. I have been told that this game plays different for every single computer built out there, so on this occasion it looks like you didn't win the lucky dip. Maybe you have to look on the bright side of things here, if these white heads are running about the trees like that, you are not exactly going to have a problem spotting the enemy are you. The other option would require you to have a lot of money to waste. You could go out and purchase a whole new computer or hardware. However, it's still not guaranteed to run the game - Just the luck of the draw. Seriously Dude - I do feel for you, I am still waiting to play the game myself and my computer meets more than the recommended specs.

Yes your card is fine, if some people on here tell you that it's not, just ignore them. I have done most of the so called fixes and they don't work for me, but don't let me stop you from trying.

Get used to the 26fps that's what they call normal for this game. I don't call it normal, but it looks like we are stuck with it.

I reinstalled the game today because I wanted to give it another chance, I wanted to look at the multiplayer hold maps in particular because someone on here had given some advise about the Ai been the cause of the low Fps. So, I did a clean reinstall of windows 7, installed the game along with the patch 1.02 and really thought I was good to go now. I can tell you that didn't take long for me to realise I was kidding myself. I wasn't able to test these maps for very long at all, because after just 10 minutes into playing the game, all it kept doing was locking up, and I had to constantly reboot to start the game over again. So, apart from the Fps issue, which I found really annoying, there is also the freezing and locks ups to frustrate me even more. Can someone here explain what the hell is wrong with this game? I have played games for years online and never had any problems like this, is this because the game is so dependent on the CPU that it's overheating or something? And why is it so dependent on the CPU and not the Graphics card? Also, how is a patch going to fix something like this? Everyone keeps harking on about the Nvidia drivers, but they don’t do anything to improve this game. Seems to me Nvidia are just the scapegoat here.

Why are you confused about what I wrote in another thread? Isn't it obvious that I didn't get my money back? The shop said I have broke the seal and refused to give me my money back, it's that simple really. And yes I am confused if Vista is a problem on one computer and not on another, I have never in my in my life, until now, heard of a game do that.

Dwarden - Are you seriously suggesting that I have to play the game in windowed mode because I have vista? Also, is this just a silly fix until the next patch, or is it going to be classed as a permanent solution? I find all this very confusing, I read in another thread where Suma says that vista is not a problem. So does vista have a problem with this game or not - Which is it, Yes/No?

If it's the Ai causing the fps to drop then why bother making a game that is primarily based on coops? They should of focused more on a PvP game. I made lots of good PvP for Ofp, but since Bis totally ignored the PvP community for this game, I'll be dammed if I make a single map for this game. All people are stuck with now is Evolution, that has that much bloody Ai you cannot even play the game lol. What is the point in having a large map that you cannot place lots of Ai on without suffering a massive drop in FPS? This game would of been a huge hit if they had worked on the PvP more.

I have tried loads of tweaking and nothing works, all I get is a crappy 16 -25 FPS.

I have Vista and better specs then Suma, yet I only get 16-25 Fps? looks like he Suma sees no problem with vista and even states his the game is "running great." So what exactly is going on here? I would also like to mention that I have never had any problems with any other game.
