When I wrote crcti is for years ... it really is ... maybe the first hours (EDIT: days !) you are just a learner. And - as far as I know - there is no recent manual to do it, only the old one at http://mfcti.sourceforge.net/MFCTIInstructions/Instructions.html But don't hesitate to ask in a crcti - thread! ;-)

@Penfolde: Maybe it's the old map from OF or AA1 mixed with the new style of AA2: In OF/AA1 the coordinates were given with two letters and two numbers - "Ac65". That could be a relict which has not been transfered correctly. ---------- Post added at 08:32 ---------- Previous post was at 08:30 ---------- Just because another short helpful post - maybe - wasn't understanable enough: Download 0.9-version at: http://forums.ogn.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=44985&d=1247825848

AMD 3800 and 6000 X2 CPU
Herbal Influence replied to Herbal Influence's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@ZiggyJinx (and all followers): Pls post your system specs more detailed! For what you are saying is not too helpful without graphic card specs and resolution - at least? Why not putting it into "signature" ? -
Download crcti warfare 0.9 and put it into msmissons-folder ... and start it on your PC (don't forget locking it - click on lock-symbal) as multiplayer game. Download: http://forums.ogn.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=44985&d=1247825848 There will be years of fun for you. I am doing cti (mfcti and crcti) since they came out ... in ... year 2002 I think. And this way you open another way: If you get bored by bots - you simply "unlock" your PC and ... after a few minutes somebody will enter and game with you, if you want him to! You can tell him to leave and wait for another ..... or even kick him. Though this wouldn't be very friendly and might upset him for good reasons.

bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Herbal Influence replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Strange. It's the first time I must confess - I believe him! This guy from old-Iraq ;-) But, in earnest, IT IS helpful to many cogamers to post in a trouble shooting thread that your system works. But only WHEN and INSOFAR as you post your technical specifications of your system. That way everybody with the same or a comparable system can narrow his problem search very much. EDIT: The system below works. -
3rd person versus Egoshootermode
Herbal Influence replied to Herbal Influence's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Yeah, I tested it. Some veteran mode offers those bubbles. The modes "below" veteran don't. And thanx for the hint on the double tip on "-" on numpad.:o Does work - and I hadn't expected that for in other modes or what it did only work momentarily: only as long as you press the button it zoomed out. I could even find something following the tri-monitor idea which was posted above as a joke: If you switch to it in graphic options with having only one monitor - at least - you get an idead what a broader field of view (FOV) gives to you - even on ONE monitor screen. Sure it's all condensed or deformed - but maybe a way to solution: if the contortion would only be a the very rims of the monitor screen, it could be nice simulation of a real FOV. -
Yeah - please tell us what you have seen repeating the simplest simulation I described. For example I watched a bot creeping behind a house to get in security from the shootings. Than: Standing up and leaning (!) round a corner of that house to take a look again at the enemy. I really began to understand why it's so hard to fight against bots for they hide that nice. ;-) In OF I watched from afar that one RES bot healed another and they both engaged in fighting thereafter again. I had to smile and said unto them: Hey, don't waste your time! No need to play that theatre for me! I know you are just bots and could heal with a single row in the script!! ;-) And don't get me wrong as kids could do: I am truly fascinated about the independency (?) and intelligence of the bots. I know how to do a computer program, gave lectures on it, and this is the reason why I am so fascinated and want to share my (and your) fascination. You may look at it as someone who loves and is fascinated by a machine for just technical reasons.

okokok ..... wrong thread. You are right. But most of the probs depend on cpu. I wanted to show that its not from ugly programming, but from enhanced functions and intelligence.
-
Type "m" and you see the coordinates at the rims of the map. No big thing. ;-)

Very discouraging and always showing what a shit war is in reality: Imagine what poor creatures go through a town or close to a wood with a Bradley or so. One hidden rpg man - and that was it. Same with choppers and AA-men. Or imagine a soldier in the next building with a G36 and you yourself with a m16. The military sims show - for me - : It's not the soldier that survives war. But my grandpa was in WWII and always said: Never again a uniform. You lose your mind with taking on the uniform.

Aiming like im on steroids
Herbal Influence replied to bluetorch's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Perhaps I did not undertstand it all, so don't throw old teabags at me: You know that a slowed down mousemovement simulates the weight of the gun? And that a somewhat flickering mousepointer simulates your natural shivering? You can see that it's worse when you have run a lot. BI surely - in the name of all serious non-arcade-gamers - will not offer a patch to solve that. -
Gameplay getting boring - thoughts and questions
Herbal Influence replied to qwertz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
My experience is that at least in crcti missions the mission developers react quite quickly and - for example - raise prices for aircraft vehicles. And indeed I would like it for I know the effect you state. It's even worse when commanders keep money all for themselves and buy one chopper (for doing points) after another whereas the normal one can try to get away with infantry and an Ural ... :-( -
Mmm... here (German version) it is <.> and <,> to change channel and then <-> to type. Check that you are in global channel when trying to reach someone of all, and in sidechannel when it's for your sides men.

bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Herbal Influence replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
See my signature. I am doing very fine with it - what I call fine: I can have 50 fps on low settings, 38 on phantastic graphics (my feeling - and my normal combat mode) and about a 21 on highest settings. It's even playable with 21 fps for me. As far as I know cinema offers not more than 24 pictures per second. -
Motion blur, bloom : make them options!
Herbal Influence replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
LOL - though I was frustrated by Postprocessing a few weeks I learned only today of the possibility to switch it off! Reason: I went through all the settings at first install and never again. Maybe many gamers do so. And are frustrated like I was. After switching it off I am really fascinated again. -
I think, that there's a big problem to the right of privacy - at least in the EU. You should - as admin - be able to prove that you informed everyone in writing about the logging of his utterings. ;-) If I were BI I wouldn't deliver it. If I were a server-owner, I wouldn't activate it. It's about storing personal data, very personal maybe, when you are only gaming with a close friend. Sure it's sometimes difficult to find out, who is beyond a nickname. But that's only a matter of time. My opinion. I say this after some frustrating games where I would have liked the admin (if there was one) to kick or ban a few kiddies who shot any of our own choppers taking up from our base intendly.

uranik - sure it's sometimes too much to read the whole thread but you should have taken your time to read the last post before you.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Herbal Influence replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
After I upgraded my PC from AMD 3800 X2 to AMD 6000 X2 (AM2 slot) for about 60 Euros and my graphic from 7600 GT to 9600 GT for 99 Euro I do really enjoy highest settings. Especially after I switched off "Nachbearbeitung" (don't know the English word .. maybe "Fillrate" ?). EDIT: Nachbearbeitung is "Post Processing" ! ;-) But my gaming settings are: resolution 1680x1050 (both!) and terrain detail low, shadow low, antialiasing off - and I have the finest graphics nevertheless with a framerate of about a 38 +/- 6. I feel it being nicely playable also with about a 23 fps - and this I do when I want all of the settings on max. But graphics are great far below this settings. This way I think, I proved, that AA2 is nicely playable with an up to date PC - mine is from late 2006, so I had to spend 99 + 60 Euros on cpu and graphic. From my experience I can say that OFP was much more demanding at the time of release and the effect is: People play it since then with great pleasure, including me. More on the AMD 6000 X2 in http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=77206 -
AMD 3800 and 6000 X2 CPU
Herbal Influence replied to Herbal Influence's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
One more thing to boost graphics - sorry, but I have to say so: Switch off "Nachbearbeitung"! Sorry, I don't know the English word for it. EDIT: Now I know it: "Post processing" ;-) I was getting headaches from "Nachbearbeitung" for it blurres everything in the distance so that my eyes got irritated, trying to sharpen things that are blurred - like hiding enemies ... -
Can the game be fixed or is that it?
Herbal Influence replied to MajorNME's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
MajorNME - don't ya be so frustrated. I know it's hard to spend time dealing with the hardware performance problems for we are all no professionals on that but are doctoring into the most complex technic world has to offer. And while an old car is "open source" with Microsoft you meet problems you are unable to solve for a long time because it's a black box: You shall not know how it works in detail. Professionally I deal with software problems and I know that there is NO software without errors. This forum has helped a lot of matters to fix for a lot of people. And I think both of you crossed borders of good behaviour - but understandable for most of the readers I think. Sure, Forum Moderators, aren't trained like those in a support hotline to swallow every overwhelming utter of frustration and react sometimes somewhat too angry. But I think we can be sure to have - since Patch 1.02 - a game of an outstanding quality. And it's going to be better every day - like they showed us with OFP and AA1. It's a complex thing and especially the community itself is often fighting about what is good, what is arcade, what is realism etc. Just think of all the kiddies that criticise that there are - comparably - no big booooooms but only realistic noises. They are able to create a sound addon and they are so happy with that! I myself think, that - thinking about the fact that a normal software developing enterprise can engage in developing work from my 50 Euros for the game only five minutes: Think about what running a company does cost every minute. There are so many things to care about and to pay, beginning with sweeping the rooms, buying licenses, paying your tax accountant, lawyer, taxes, room lease rates, social insurance etc. etc. I am sure this product couldn't be payed for if it would have been developed in the US or Germany. Didn't the US government spend a 50 Mio. Dollars to have Americas Army developed? And what is the outcome? We can really be happy with the game till now and be very happy in the future for they do go on with their work, though you already paid your money to them. I have full trust in them and I was never disapointed - since 2001. I have had fun, excitement over hours, weeks and months and years. For only ... ahem .. what was the price of OFP in 2001 ? ;-)))) -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(
Herbal Influence replied to Joseph Troska's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I don't have seizures from AA2 but as I said it's for whatever reason more stressful to my eyes - though I don't do more than 2 hrs of it a day. Maybe 23 fps aren't enough - though I enjoy close to highest settings mostly. But I don't think it's fps-matter. To me, I think, it's the blurrness. Any hint to reduce it? Before Patch 1.02 I could change the fillrate. But I don't find the option of it no more. (EDIT: Found the explanation here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=80493 In fact image quality is now better than before Patch 1.02. But as you can read there this might be a matter of your own settings. And "Nachbearbeitung" should be turned off - at last for me. Reduces the blurr greatly - I am sure I have no more problems now!) If I would experience seizures I would really stop playing as long as I have not found out the reason. At least I would sharply reduce my gaming time. And I think it's no matter to panic about. I love BI and they warned about the fact that this might happen, for sometimes people suffer from it. This seems to be a fact to every kind of video game. -
Linux Port for BI Titles
Herbal Influence replied to Milyardo's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Hoak - I could not follow your boths dispute in all detail, but the idea of a massive preordering of AA2 (or AA3?) on a Linux basis up to a deadline, lez say 31.12.10, could work, couldn't it? -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(
Herbal Influence replied to Joseph Troska's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I do also feel that ArmA2 is much more stressful for my eyes than OF or AA1. Dunno why. Also gaming with 22'' and 1680x1050. I game with about a 24 fps +-3. What I find enerving is the blurrness of the things farer away. -
Great works, Squeeze! Already had a lot of fun with it! If you do suddenly care for real life now being more important: Real life is just another window - and not the best one ! ;-) Perhaps somebody can help me with waypoints? (Version 0.9) Everytime I change them to co-points they correctly get inserted in the tables but disappear completely on map! EDIT: I just saw: No problem when gaming on own PC as server and/or in Veteran Mode ...

YES a year later ;-))
