  1. The first time I installed OA it allowed me the option of registering it so I wouldn't need the disk to run. It said this could be done anytime so I foolishly declined. My disk takes about one minute of unhealthy clicking noises before it gets read. I tried to uninstall/reinstall but the register message didn't appear.

    So my question is: How do I register the game so I don't have to have the disk in to play?

    That's the point. I dont't want them to. It was a loop hole introduced in arma that never got sorted out. It's a real turnoff sneaking undetected around a tank base laying charges in the dead of night for 30 minutes only to run 500m away, touch off and have every patrol instantly and magically home in on you.

    I don't know why BIS changed the ofp charges. The touch off didn't blow your position and you could order squad mates to touch off.

    This mod already sounds like a winner but to remain undetected after touch off would be the icing on the cake. I'll test and let you know.


  3. I'm sorry, but the current space bar thing is retarded. I can never remember the 9999 combination for each command so I always go to the backspace menu.

    You really only have to remember 1 move, 3 ROE, 4 mount, 7 stance/speed and 8 formation. While you're learning it you can press backspace to get back to the main at any time.


  4. I having trouble with the APC at the beginning....I get my unit in and pick a location on the map but we don't move. I try to find a way for me to drive the APC but no luck. I went through the manual several times but I can't find a solution.

    Press ctrl+space. You use the commander interface to give orders to the APC.


  5. I realize holding a small object and pulling the pin is a very physically demanding and mental task, but why can't we move while doing it? Is it to prevent nade spammers?

    I imagine holding enough explosive in your hand to blow you and all your friends to kingdom come is quite mentally demanding. Maybe that's why every military system doesn't encourage people to use them like fireworks.

    I've played this game for a fair few hours now and, knowing most of it's glaring faults, I'm having a hard time taking some of these complaints seriously.


  6. The entire role of the A-10 is to fly at 200 knots and 200 feet, and provide anti-armour/defense support for a platoon.

    I'm wrong on that then :p The flight speed still looks daft though. Like they should be falling out of the sky, unable to pull their nose up.

    The jet tech point still apllies though. These are precision machines with the best the world has to offer in navigation, sensors and training. In ARMA2 they are more like ww1 biplanes strafing what they can see.


  7. Jets shouldn't even be included imo. Watching jets fly 200m over a battlefield at what appears to be 150mph isn't immersive or realistic. It looks and feels like bf2. The engagement range for a ground strike probably wouldn't fit on to Chenarus. The view distance/detail isn't anywhere near supporting it nor is the dev time needed to simulate jet tech.

    And don't anyone dare say a modern battlefield isn't realistic without modeling jets because I bet there's alot of infantry that've never seen an air strike first hand but have all had to take a s**t, wait around for weeks and rely on logistics and supplies for food and water. It's a game first and a sim second. If you want a plane sim, buy a plane sim. If you want a tank sim, buy a tank sim. If you want an infantry sim, buy ARMA 2. If you want it all then join one of the armed services.


  8. Nice mission for as far as I got.

    Like someone else pointed out, your squad's AT soldier have the wrong ammo.

    I think, considering the task and the opfor, taking out the AA armour with no losses is a bit steep. Perhaps change it 50% or 25% loss. Having to reload because you lost one guy when the opfor outnumber you x6 or x7 is frustrating. Just my opinion.

    The other two squads BHs didn't land to pickup charlie and delta so the one I'm on is just hovering over the forest on a wait command. Retried with same result.


  9. I don't like how only a few guys in aware will walk with their weapons aimed at something and the rest walk like they are in safe mode.

    Why aim at something while you're moving? The only time I can see this happening in real life is when someone is room clearing where the fraction of a second it takes you to ready your weapon could be the difference between life and death.


  10. To me the accuracy isnt a problem, its the bullet drop that mess up the aim. The MP5 for example, absolutely horrendous. Have to aim like 5m above people just to hit them.

    At ~> 100m yes you have to aim high. That's more than 300ft remember. Don't know the first thing about ballistics but at the end of the day that's a parabellum round. It just hasn't got the mass to keep it's velocity. Sounds about right to me.


  11. I don't think it's random dispersion. It's the fact that your soldier can't hold the gun straight. It get's ridiculous with the submachine guns.There was one time, with an uninjured soldier, I couldn't see the front sight post on my mp5 at all because the sway was so bad. Bizon even worse. Breathing makes little difference. You're far better off using the hud sights. It's just .... wrong. Too exaggerated.

    Theres a LAV nearby but it doesnt do anything, why is it even there :confused: ?

    Whats with these poor missions anyway?

    Why cant they make good ones like OPF had?

    You're going to kick yourself. It's a commander mission ;) The missions do have a half-arsed feel about them though.


  13. Do you have to complete all the sp missions for unlocks? I've done all except village sweep and freedom fighters and I still can't see any unlocks. Village sweep I've done three times with no losses and every time I've cleared the village the mission won't complete. Freedom fighters I'll have to do on regular difficulty, just too hard on veteran.


  14. Joint Operations did this and it worked pretty well. I've been begging for this for a while.

    Alpha blending. Me and a few others had exactly the same hope in a prerelease thread for ARMA 1. Released screenshots even had it on but it never made it into the final release. Same with a new inventory system based on space and weight instead of slots. Shame.


  15. I wish the command "STAY LOW" will make them go crouch and prone. never standing. Much better in combat I think

    STAY LOW is a bit mis-leading. It is actually the default stance where your squad will mostly copy your stance or go crouched or prone in lower combat behaviour modes (stealth, danger), especially when they percieve danger or aren't moving. Just use STAY CROUCHED if you want them to crouch.
