  1. Somebody give this man a cigar.

These sounds are awesome, only complaint I have is how deafening they can be for people inside the vehicles at time like if you turn out. It ruins communication for them. If there was some way the sound level for the crew could be lowered that would be awesome.

Other than that, this is a superb job and is just plain epic at times.

Also, awesome job on the Abrams, many sound mods and game devs forget the fact that it uses a gas turbine rather than a standard engine and give it a horrible sound.

  2. I have been fiddling with making a US Army version of domi with ACE and I have been trying to make it more focused on ground vehicles and what not.

Where would I find the files that would let me remove or edit the patrols that spawn? They're getting a bit ridiculous as earlier I organized something and we got underway and right out of the base ran into a T-90 which are now impervious to near everything with ACE, and it raped our entire convoy and it just came out of nowhere. We respawned and tried it again and right as we started to leave the base we were all hit with missiles from a KA-52 which, again, just came out of nowhere.

Aside from that though, does anyone know where I can find these files?

  3. Soooooo, charon. Hows this coming?

If you had taken the time to read you would have seen the post that said he's just trying to shorten the timeframe in which scripts are executed and it's done for the most part.

Aside from that, great job Charon, I can't wait to see the final product and my entire clan is excited to play. I really like the 28 days later style of the mod and I think it will be perfect with environments in ArmA 2.

Thanks bud and keep up the good work.

  4. Ok, it's confirmed that none of the ACE weapons are actually silenced. They say silenced, act silenced, and have silenced mags but testing it, from about 150 m if you fire one any-which-way all AI in the area go on alert and start shooting at you. If you do it with a stock MP5SD you can shoot one standing 2ft behind another.

And yes, I know that supersonic bullets crack and all that bullshit but even if you fire a non-sd round from a silenced rifle people would most likely dismiss the noise as a branch or a animal or something so that isn't really a good reason to make them register as non-silenced.

  5. I just noticed something quite odd. Someone might check this and confirm it.

I was messing around on the Panthera map because I'm making a SEALs mission for it. Anyway, I noticed that the ACE silenced weapons would alert people who weren't in the same group.

I placed 4 men along a riverbank and about 20m between them. I was trying to see if you could use the silenced SPR to snipe someone and not alert a nearby enemy not looking at them.

Long story short I found that the AI would not recognize the ACE weapons as silenced. Even after a 1 shot clean kill on the rear most one they would shortly go on alert and shoot at me. I then found that I could use the standard ArmA 2 weapons and shoot all 4 of them with no alert what-so-ever.

Any thoughts on this? Because if it's a problem on my end I would like to fix it because the silenced SPR is something I want to use in the mission but it registers as being unsilenced.

And yes, I was using SD weapons and SD mags.

  6. Having problem with sniping?? :D

In short, yes. They keep adding all this stuff to canculate wind, but the wind shifts every 3 seconds and drastically changes speed every 1/4 a second so it's impossible for even the fastest person to calculate, aim, and shoot.

Wind is quite constant generally, it might gust at times, but it doesn't constantly change directions. Hell, even in a damn storm it is more constant than in this game.

Wind should stay quite constant for periods and rarely change major directions. I was trying to practice earlier, did my calculations, and prepared to shoot and the wind went from southeast to northwest instantly. Then it went to west, then it went to north, then to strong south. It makes no sense what-so-ever and it ruins sniping.

I really quite frankly, don't understand in the least what the heck they were thinking when they made it the way it is.

  7. For some reason when my server host tries to use sixupdater or install it onto my server there's a problem. This is what he said:

    "RE:ACE 2

I checked the install package, there is a script error somewhere, it can''t find a provided utility called chcp, and crashes. We''d have to get a fix to continue installing this."

Any idea how to fix this?

  8. My clan is working on a campaign for us to play that is using ACE2 and is basically following 2 US Army squads through missions on Quesh-Kibrul.

Basically the missions involve 12 infantry and 2 M2A2 Bradly IFVs. What we want to do is make it so that when someone dies they only have a limited number of lives, maybe 2 or 3, and when someone dies they respawn on the Bradly attached to their squad. The only problem is I want the player to spawn with the loadout they died with so that they don't have refreshed ammo, etc.

I really have no idea how to do any of this as I suppose it involves some scripting. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Again, in a nutshell I need to know:

    How to do limited lives.

How to attach squad's respawns to a Bradley

How to save the loadout they had when they died when they respawn

    Thanks ahead of time.

  9. I'm really impressed with the mods so far, but I'm only greatly bothered by two things at the moment.

For one, if you're going to make weight exhaust people at least don't over-exaggerate it. After 200 meters of jogging my well trained and conditioned, US Ranger with 20 kg of gear sounds like he's about to die, and if you go any distance you start to pass out. I like the system, it's just a bit too exaggerated.

And the only other thing is if you're going to add wind, don't make it change directions every 5 seconds. I hate figuring which way to shoot then the wind changes from SE to NW instantly.

Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope it improves, can't wait to see what yall do with it.
