  4. @Everbody playing IFL:44 on Phoenix Soldiers - Teamspeak 3 channel commander settings were set up by many of the 15 people whom turned up on the IFL:44 mission event last night, which is good to see that people see the benefit of improved communication channels. It seemed to work very well for the mission event and I believe that it's worth repeating the same at the next mission on Sunday. Regarding the channel commander settings for Teamspeak 3, it's only fair to expect that everyone, should have this set up. There are no predefined mission or squad leaders during our mission events. Therefore, it's only fair, that everybody, including newcomers and familiar players, are expected to do their turn at mission or squad leadership whilst playing on Phoenix Soldiers game servers. Another reason, why all players must have channel commander set up in advance, is because mission and squad leaders do get killed in missions and therefore you may be asked to lead a squad or the mission, if they fall. Please make sure that you have set up you TS3 channel commander setting before the next mission event. I've posted a very quick 30 sec tutorial on how to set up you Teamspeak 3, as channel commander ready, for our co-op mission events. See the tutorial below
  5. Phoenix Soldiers - Tactical Gaming Group Iron Front Co-op Gaming Squad Phoenix Soldiers (PXS) have been hosting Iron Front no respawn co-op single mission events since November 2012 on their dedicated server, [PXS] PHOENIX SOLDIERS IRON FRONT SERVER, on Sunday at 20:00 GMT (UTC). We usually have between 10-12 players turn out for mission events. We usually play single missions, with 1-3 tasks to complete, with a limited set of resources to help achieve these tasks. We select a team leader, whom runs the mission and the rest of the players work as a team, utilising Teamspeak 3 server: ts3.phoenixsoldiers.org or Click Here To Join TS3 Direct We cherish our single lives in the mission, when trying to achieve these tasks and unless there's an unforeseen reason, we have a no respawn policy. This make's you concentrate very hard and play more as a team. Phoenix Soldiers would like to invite more players, whom wish to play Iron Front co-op missions in the above style, into the mission events, held usually on Sunday's at 20:00 GMT (UTC) Ideally, we would like players to have teamspeak, with a microphone and a firm grasp of the English language, in order for them and others to enjoy the mission events. Please leave any questions or comments on the previous or up coming Co-op missions or about the "Phoenix Soldiers - Tactical Gaming Group" in a reply to this post on this forum or you can PM me or register on the Phoenix Soldiers - Tactical Gaming Group website for more details. www.phoenixsoldiers.com Best wishes Chief

  8. To All IFL:44 players whom play on Phoenix Soldiers Mil Sim Games. I've posted a very quick 2 min tutorial on how to set up you Teamspeak 3, as channel commander ready, for our co-op mission events. See the tutorial below and make sure you have set this up before 20:00GMT (UTC) mission events. Any issues, with this, then I am happy to guide you through it. But I insist that you just try it for yourself in the first instance. Please post here to confirm that you have successfully set this up. cheers
  9. A little feedback from the mission event held tonight at 20:00 GMT for Arma 2. Firstly we had 7 people turn up and join in the mission, with 1 or 2 others curious about joining, but not quite decided about making it in to the mission. Then we got into the depths of the mission and played for about 2.5 hours on the CO-12 Red Rover mission, playing as Czech forces. This mission turned out to be really good fun and we managed to complete the mission, with only 1 casualty, only 10 mins before the end, i.e. Dopies. Bad luck mate. We had in game leadership, from Reaper and Tay, whom stepped up and led the mission successfully. Well done to all the team whom attended tonight to make this a very fun and successful event. Roll Call included: Dopies, Tay, SID, Snake, Chief, Terry, Reaper. Cheers lads. Lets get another one of these done again soon next weekend. Chief

  11. Chaps, I've put together a mission for this Saturday's Arma 2 mission event. Its based on a mission called CO-12 Red Rover by Outlawz. Mission Details The negotiations fell into the water and since then a coalition consisting primarily of Czech and British Army has been deployed to pacify the region. However, the Bystrica Communist Party is not to be underestimated. While seizing one of the major cities went without issues, the countryside is a different case. Heavy vegetation renders regular and thermal imagery useless thus forcing the coalition to advance steadily, relying on battles of encounter to locate the dug-in enemy, who has excellent rear echelon support. In order to break into the hills, a flanking maneuver will be needed to knock out the command and logistics behind the lines. With those neutralized, a major BCP force will be either destroyed or forced to abandon the area, giving the coalition ground to continue. Combined British and Czech forces have entered Bystrica and are now fighting their way into the hills. With the resistance higher than usual, it is suspected there is a high command unit behind the line, coordinating and supporting the defense. Aerial recon revealed the position to be in an old castle ruin, with rear support situated in a nearby village. The village houses ammunition, artillery and vehicles along with a field hospital nearby. A recon unit has sneaked their way behind the enemy. The unit consists of Foxtrot and Echo with India on support. Since Czech crewmen had some issues with night-vision equipment, Echo consists of two British crewmen who trained with Czech Army on Pandur APCs. Little additional ammunition is available, so each man carries as much as possible. The objectives are to: 1. seize the village 2. destroy the command APC unit at the castle before being reinforced. The enemy is aware of the rear guard and thus has several emplaced weapons directed north-northwest. There may be some armored vehicles present, but most of the units are infantry. The village has been fortified. Mission Features I amended the mission to add in a few PXS co-op enhanced features. Such as the following: 1. Player name tags, that are activated 20m from a player 2. DAPMAN medical First Aid System for players and AI. Includes AI and player auto battlefield clearance system. 3. UPSMON enhanced AI 4. Spectator Cam on death 5. View Distance capping 6. Auto Dead body clearance 7. Auto military markers on map if enemy is spotted by a player. 8. Real Damage Bullet Proof Edition Script. Bluefor players, have a fully working body armor system functioning. This version simulates that units are wearing a class III bullet proof vest (Not suitable for armor-piercing projectiles): a. Hand guns, submachine guns and shotguns do not kill you, at any distance. b. Standard assault rifles ammunition do not kill you at any distance. c. Rifles and sniper rifles will kill you due to energy at close range. Long range hits may be will not kill you. d. Anti-materiel weapons (m107 and AS50) will kill you at any distance by penetration and energy transfer. e. You can get killed by receiving a head shot from any weapon f. You can also get wounded by receiving shots to you legs and feet. 9. JTK Weapon Suppressor Script. This script allows the players to equip a suppressor to a weapon provided that weapon has a suppressible version. It's a very easy and effective way to have both an SD weapon in your kit and having the option of just pressing the left windows key to have the suppressor removed or put back on again, as and when needed. Works for most vanilla SD weps, pistols, assault rifles and sniper rifles. 10. Join in progress 11. AI Disabled 12. Selectable mission parameters - Weather, time of day, backpacks for Engineers and Asst MG gunners See you on Saturday
  12. Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Are there any plans to expand the list of SD weapons, that this applies to include the ACR, BAF and PMC DLCs in the near future. Cheers

    TrackIR/Freetrack

It supports trackIR, same as Arma 2:CO.
  19. Firstly, thanks to all the 13 people whom turned up, on time, last night for our co-op mission event at 20:00 GMT(UTC). It was fun and we had some really good fire fights. Everybody played really well and we all got on with the job. For those other people whom could not make it on time, please drop into the Phoenix Soldiers Teamspeak 3 server and drop into the iron front channel to speak to a game admin whom will unlock the server for you and let you join the game. I saw many people trying to join the Phoenix Soldiers game server, after we had started the mission and locked the server, but they did not join our teamspeak 3 and come into our channel to announce themselves. Phoenix Soldiers Teamspeak3 - ts3.phoenixsoldiers.org or Click Here To Join TS3 Direct Secondly, after playing IFL:44 with 10-15 people in the same teamspeak 3 channel, we are now experiencing communication issues. So, we need to experiment to find a solution. Dopies and Wild have made some suggestions on this matter. They propose the following way forward: 1. All players turn up to Teamspeak 3 in same IFL:44 channel at start of mission for briefing etc. 2. Mission leader and subgroup leaders are assigned. Players assigned to subgroups 3. After the briefing, mission leader and subgroup leaders remain in the same Teamspeak 3 channel 4. The subgroups including any vehicles break off into separate TS3 channels one for each subgroup. 5. All players, including leaders, once in the game and after the briefing, switch to using Direct Channel. This will mean, that if they are close togther geographically, the players can communicate with each other and not disturb others. Iron Front: Liberation 1944 has a voice chat built into the game, which allows better bandwidth balancing and 3D sound positioning in the game world. The 6. Once you are dead, you go to a separate channel (dead channel) until the mission restarts or is completed. I think that this is a good idea and worth trying next Sunday. In preparation for this experiment, can I ask that ALL players make sure that there TS3 push to talk key is not the same as their in game push to talk key. Post your thoughts and comments on this matter. I've included a guide for the in game comms below for your information. Iron Front In Game Multiplayer Communication Guide A multiplayer game is much more tactical and enjoyable when you can communicate with the other players. Iron Front: Liberation 1944 offers various tools to achieve this without needing to use external applications: Channels To ensure you don‘t get overwhelmed by radio chatter, the game uses several different communication channels. • Global Channel – Communication to all players. • Side Channel – Communication to all players on your side. • Command Channel – Communication to all players on your side who currently command a group. • Group Channel – Communication to all members of your command group. • Vehicle Channel – Communication to all players in the same vehicle as you. • Direct Communication – Communication to all players within earshot. To switch to another channel press either . (period) or , (comma). Text Chat One method of communicating is sending and receiving text messages. • To start typing a message, press / (forward slash). • The Message Box appears, where you can type a message. • Send the message by pressing Enter. Typed messages are sent via channels. While typing a message, you can change the channel it will be sent to by pressing the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys. Voice Chat Another method is Voice Chat, which is generally much faster, as you can keep playing while communicating with other players. If a microphone is set up, press and hold Caps Lock to commence broadcasting. Voice chat uses the same channels as text chat, and it follows the same rules as to who will be able to hear it. Iron Front: Liberation 1944 has a voice chat built into the game, which allows better bandwidth balancing and 3D sound positioning in the game world.
