  1. 1) Education - Get as much college time as you can. When it comes to a interview for a job position you are generally not the only one applying. Always expect your competition to be better then you. 2) Experience - Have lots of it. When it comes down to a comparison between potential employees, can you or can you not do the required work? How well can you do the work? Do you require supervision or can you operate independently? 3) Samples - Along with the experience you carry you also want to be able to have something to show for it. If you can't show someone on paper or other means that you have experience and can either demonstrator or show proof of the quality of your work then you simply won't get much of a thought for the position. 4) Professionalism - Don't paint yourself as a moron or a kid. Go in there with your game face on ready to present yourself as if you were talking to the CEO. Show that you can handle tough questions and are able to function under pressure. Now those are the basics. If you have not already done so, you'll want to get familiar with whatever area that you desire to pursue (scripting, modeling, terrain, etc.) and become proficient in it. You don't have to be a duty expert or have a degree in the specific field but always keep #1 in mind, you will have competition and it's always best to make sure you can stand out above the rest. Each job posting carries a different set of requirements. Do you have to speak Czech? Not always, but position dictates. There's also more to BI then just ArmA, there's also BI Sim with VBS2 which is much like ArmA series but for real simulation purposes. Again, positions carry different requirements and are not always the same. All of us come from different backgrounds. Some of us spent time in the military, some came from other game companies and others just straight out of college or internship. It all depends on what you have to offer, what can YOU offer to the company that would make the company want to hire you?
  2. Installing the Tools will create a Windows startup service that will run the .bat file for mounting the P drive each time the OS starts up. Rerunning the .bat file is always the best way to remount the drive it for some reason it drops off.
  3. Does this happen in specific areas of the terrain or just at random? If specific areas of the terrain then this could be related to a possible error in the surface masks for the terrain
  4. I'm not so sure the function exists in this engine. There is one present in the VBS2 engine but it's specific to VBS2 and primarily for exporting to LandBuilder through a plugin call. To check you could send a quick mail over to BI Studio Support ( support@bistudio.com ) and ask them if the function is present, as I'm not completely sure. There may be a method of doing a script work around on this but may not yield the same results.
  5. Quite curious issue you have here, I have not noticed this at all. Have you attempted to remove the sound files from the game directory and letting Steam update the game to replace them? Might it be possible that one of the sound.ifa files is corrupt
  6. Correct, you'll find that most clan-based servers will have rules like these. Most commonly these rules are found on clans that attempt to operate under some form of para-military style game play and organization. Most regular groups of gamers won't have the same standards.

VBS2/3 Discussion thread - the one and only

The Wiki reference was last modified on 2 August 2010, at 17:28. A lot has changed in the company since then so to be sure you have updated answers to your questions it's always best to send in questions to support. Our Wiki often contains sections that have out dated information which we try to ensure gets updated when the updated info is available. If you want to discuss the semantics of the EULA then I'd be happy to put you in contact with our legal department, they could also provide you with any of the latest changes to the EULA if any. Send a email over to support@bisimulations.com (Subject: VBS2 Lite EULA) with your questions and info, be sure to include details as to exactly what you want to do and we can further elaborate on any restrictions that may apply. I'm not the legal department so I won't debate legal matters ;)

Most is customer requirement funded ;) That's not say things won't change in the future. No telling how either sets of software will be sitting in the future.

    Aiming Accuracy in Arma 3

Out of the box it's the same fatigue system as vanilla ArmA/ArmA2, however a past requirement sparked development of a improved system that factors in physical condition of individual players based on official military fitness test scores (PFT). So, Pvt. Schmuckatellie runs a 185 3rd class PFT and tipped 223lbs on the last weigh-in. His overall performance and marksmanship will thus be effected in comparison to Cpl. Hardcharger who's a 285 1st class PFT 175lbs stud. Running side by side on a course, speeds will vary and at the end taking a knee to fire on paper targets...the shot groups will vary as well. Marksmanship qualifications can also be factored in. This however is presently limited to VBS2

VBS2 US Army Lite is licensed to the US Army, therefore you must be authorized by the US Army to have the software. If you do not have access to AKO/MilGaming or a CAC card then chances are you won't get it or shouldn't have it unless otherwise authorized by PEO STRI. The software should also not be distributed by anyone other then the US Army or authorized persons and should not be handed out to "civilians". I do not happen to have a copy of the latest EULA with me but the one sent out in 2010 with the software pretty much sums it up and probably hasn't changed much since. If you want more details on this feel free to send a email to us at support@bisimulations.com and we'll be glad to elaborate further on additional questions. I'm the Support Manager for all of BISim ;)

    ArmA 3 Maps

A number of community members here have crafted up some impressive terrains over the years.
  12. Have you tried updating the game yet? Check to ensure you have the most recent version
  13. #login command should work no matter what given that it's a dedicated server mission and not a local hosted network mission. If #login fails then there's a chance there's already an admin logged in or your password is incorrect.

    Unofficial developer physics demonstration

BIStudio and BISim are seperate entities under the same mega name. ArmA3 is strictly BIStudio and thus nothing from VBS2 is going over to ArmA3. That isn't to say that the two don't share from time to time but don't get your hopes up with watching VBS2 videos of upcoming content and enhancements. VBS2 work is strictly for the VBS2 customer base.
  15. Trial and error process. Quick and easy is to check your addons and ensure you don't call on anything that isn't present. Scripting should be the same deal as ArmA2/OA
