Whoa, I'm sorry can't help you out but last time something like that happened to one of my pc's it wasn't good. I never was able to determine the issue but I did end up losing my HDD.

Not even close to minimum specs man, sorry. You could maybe get away with that processor but never with an on-board video chip.

His point was that you are making assumptions without considering how the engine operates, it isn't Unreal Engine and just because another game can do it doesn't mean that this one can. Since you know about networking I don't have to point out that BIS would have to host a network hub through which all clients must be routed in order to achieve what you want with regard to a lobby. BIS simply will not do that. It costs them money for limited benefit to themselves as a company. You mentioned Guild Wars being free but ignore the fact that they made their money through DLC packs and up front sales of followup releases. ArmA 2 will never be that popular and BIS cannot produce subsequent titles on such a tight schedule.

I can state, with absolute certainty that:

There will never be a game that does it all. Tech just cannot keep up. The twitch games get the gloss without the depth/scope/size and the niche games that push the limits will never have the polish. It will take 20 years before my other favorite game looks like ArmA 2 and then it will still be 20 years out of date in regards to graphics.

Why are you running by default?

Personally, I've found it to be a aggravation. I like the challenges but many are not realistic, learning to fly a helicopter and doing a challenge to pick up and deliver passengers, the timer runs out when waiting for the granny AI to get in, things like that. It is more of a tutorial and practice than anything and I only found it useful in that regard, somewhat. Unlocking things seems an unnecessary chore when you can access it all in the editor and an inconvenience when you just want to work with one specific piece of equipment and you haven't unlocked anything yet.

I'd like to know what you tube vids you have been watching, I have a crappy rig compared to most here it it still looks great. Not sure what you mean by clunky movement, perhaps you have the headbob on? Maybe it just feels smooth to me because I've played games that were much more stiff.

Don't think it is mumble, could have to do with the mission or a mod, I've seen it happen once before.

I've had it too but managed to ctrl+alt+del to get out of it. Apparently the game causes a system hang on exit sometimes

Strange indeed. The bird thing is just a bug I think as I've experienced that on some dedi servers that were running Domination as have other players also random deaths sometimes occur. The last bit I have no idea.

The behavior in that other forum (by both sides) is simply asinine, behaving like that does nothing to promote ArmA 2 or its community.

One small correction there Pufu, there are lots of games that allow mods/addons to be activated on the fly. I can't name any recent ones since I prefer more complex games like this one, but I do remember some games I have played even had a mod tab in their menu where you could choose what to activate. Conversions being the exception. I have no idea if BIS can make this possible with this engine, but if possible it would be very convenient, at least for things like units and islands. Other types of addons/mods would be hard to fit into that but in the very least, having the server list reflect the active mod folders would be a huge help. I don't see a need for BIS 'approved' addons, there are many websites linked from the respective mod pages in the forum that are quite established and safe. I don't see people needing to randomly search the internet for such things and potentially downloading viruses.

I also meant to say that Novalogic hasn't had a good game since Delta Force 2 :D

Have to disagree with you there. I haven't looked for much lately, been offline for month and only played warfare recently, since it is new to me. I find it odd you would say that this game would be more popular if it more resembled a game that was a total failure....

You would do well to look in the editing forums and ask questions there, SBSMAC is just making a pack of scripts that many mission makers use in order to help those that don't know how to do what they want to with the game and created his little app to assist in that goal. There are plenty of people with knowledge in the editing forums that can help you with the complex scripting and you could ask the ACE team about the key binds since they have their own for their mod.
