  1. I am quick to dismiss uninformed complaints, if you read everything I ever post you would know I have complaints about the game too, I think we can all agree that it has issues. Game bugs regarding the campaign, etc., have nothing to do with someone's pc not running the game properly. here's a quote from the troubleshooting forum (not my words) Even if the game was flawless people would still be having issues. Just consider the number of people using Vista (I am one) knowing Vista is pretty much garbage. Then look at how many people have W7RC which isn't even an officially released product, nevermind that micosoft hasn't put out a single piece of properly working software since...I don't know when, then consider the sub par drivers put out by Nvidia and ATI in the last few years and all of the betas and different versions people are using and multiple manufacturers for the same hardware products, etc..Call me a fanboy if you like, it matters little. It won't fix the gameplay bugs which I fully recognize and share complaints about, neither will it fix the amount of stupid that people exhibit when it comes to technical issues, the majority of which originate with them and not the game. The game is definitely not properly optimized for performance, but when it won't work at all, that's not the game.
  2. Hahaha, this game isn't like "every other game", that is such a sad comparison. The mess going on in tech support is nothing different than you see in any other high end game, people having issues with drivers and other factors. The fact that not everyone is experiencing these issues points to these issues being on their end. Game designers cannot anticipate every combination of hardware and software the end user will have and I think BIS does a pretty fair job of trying to address these issues. If someone has a higher end system than I do and they can't run the game it points to issues with their system and not the game.
  3. There are a few missions stock with ArmA 2 and I think they are self explanatory (not 100% because I installed some user missions to fool around with), you just don't see any servers running them. The thing that gets confusing is the player made missions that have different interface styles, rules, etc and if you didn't play them in ArmA 1 , you are pretty much lost.
  4. Great, how does the mission maker do it? I know about the time and weather , pretty simple. I even know about the other things you mention (don't know how but I know it involves scripting) Like I'm saying, I may be overlooking it I just want to know, is it something to be scripted/typed into the mission file or is there a selection someplace and I' blind? Thanks.
  5. haha awesome, not get depressed as you re-evaluate your life that causes you to write songs about the game :D
  6. WWIIOL is a great game and there is no other like it. And you are right, it isnt right to compare a tiny company that has only made one game and with minimal funding and a small/medium sized company that has released several and has defense contracts on the side. But both are running on engines built a decade ago, both have no competition in a niche market and both with a loyal fanbase that are willing to put up with ridiculous shortcomings in order to experience something that they cannot get anywhere else. No, they have nothing in common.
  7. The fact that the thing which brings people back to these games again and again is the modability and they haven't even done the tools yet is disturbing when added to the fact that the game is as yet so incomplete. I knew there would be issues, but not to this degree. It feel so strange waiting for a game to be finished when you already own it. I understand also the role that publishers play in when the game gets released. I remember back in 2001 when they launched World War II Online: Blitzkrieg. They were showing the game off at a games expo like E3 and one of the developers was talking to someone about the game. He was saying it would be another 3 or 4 months before the game was finished when one of the publishers walked up with champagne and said "Congratulations, we've just gone Gold" Needless to say the initial release was a flop and the publisher dropped them like a hot potato. Somehow those devs managed to save themselves and their game and have been going for 8 years with a team of about 6 devs. So publisher pressure could be the cause of the early release, the question is why is this game so bugged compared with the sim that it is built on?

    User Account - Interactive

I have the same thing, only it is named Rob. Cannot delete it or erase it. Steam version. It looks like when you first install the game it automatically creates a user profile based on the name of the windows profile it was installed on. ---------- Post added at 08:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 PM ---------- Umm or did you mean it created a windows account? If that is the case, I do NOT have that issue.

    Wild, loose gun sway.

Playing on a 1.86 dual core? If that's the case it just means the system isn't up to it. If I turn the settings up all the way on my pc and place myself in a rich environment (f.e. Chernagorsk) it will feel like I am moving in slow motion. @SCRUB Pretty much the same isn't exactly the same and even systems with the same specs will not be equal due to slight mfg. differences. Then most people do not realize what items could be bottlenecking the system. Sure you got 4Gb of RAM but what is the bus speed?, speed of your HDD, whats on that HDD, RAID or no?,drivers, background software, OS, etc etc etc. All of those things have an effect on game performance, sandbox games are particularly finicky. This is why there is so much variation in performance of 'similair' systems. Personally I have no sympathy for people that play the game with systems lower then the required specs and then complain about how horribly the game performs and complain about the game and its developers. For those with recommended specs and higher, they have a right to gripe but often I find the issues are on their end and it is difficult to pinpoint. In this latter case, I say it because I am speaking from experience and not out of callousness.

    Poor AI detection rules :(

What difficulty settings are you guys using? I never have those issues on normal settings.

    3rd person versus Egoshootermode

If Ground Branch ever gets released it might live up to the hype. @mrklor, do you have a point?

    Wild, loose gun sway.

Or someone that doesn't know how to change his settings like head bob and deadzone/floatzone
  14. Seriously? I mean, Seriously? Obviously you have the AI skill far too high for those that frequent your servers. I agree there are issues, but come on, it's not THAT bad.
  15. I would really love it if someone would please make an add on that allows you to turn off the HUD. I am sure this is possible since we have an FPS counter mod and I believe it was scruffy that made some GUI changes. It would be preferable to make it selectable via either hotkey or the settings menu. Thanks.

    chain of command

you could likely do this in the editor with the synchronize function

    Analog Throttle Control

Yes there is a minuscule window on analog controls with the helicopter where you have 100%, hold and 0%, there is no actual analog throttle control.

    3rd person versus Egoshootermode

It doesn't give you spacial awareness at all. You still can't 'feel' that team mate just behind you and that is what spacial awareness is about, sensing your environment, not peripheral vision, which 3rd does not give you and for everyone to experience it you would have to lock everyone into 3rd, the point is for everyone to be equal by default and peeking around corners and over walls is right out. Also, why are you spinning in circles? Scanning the horizon doesn't require you to turn turn turn, 3rd doesn't eliminate the need to bring your weapon to bear on the enemy either. I don't understand what you are saying.

    ArmA2 and CUDA

err, he means include code that can benefit from CUDA not make nvidia only compatible.. but if it doesn't work, well it doesn't work.
  20. It would have been nice if the situation was like that, unfortunately neither team seemed to be moving at all so I was just racking up kills, my team mates seemed content to stay in our own zone rather than take advantage of the path I had cleared for them. Even after I had stopped I got another 27 kills in the last few minutes of the mission and only at the last did my team move up and capture the area. Spawn killing is boring and my only intent was to scatter the enemy to facilitate an advance. I WANTED them to come looking for me. I know whenI get killed, I want to take that guy out.
  21. lol I was kicked from a server last night for doing just that. I wasn't paying attention to chat so I didn't see the warnings from the Admin, although I thought it stupid considering you need to kill all of the enemy in the zone in order to capture it anyway (I would never spawn camp the opponents last spawn point) honestly thought the people I was shooting were a bit daft for continuing to spawn there and you would think that people who hang out in the spawn area were free game anyway. I rejoined the server and killed them all anyway, just had to wait for them to get a few hundred meters from the flag and my position gave me a view of the entire hillside. They could have easily spotted me if they had looked around, the m107 isn't exactly the most silent weapon. If you are sniping, get as far away as possible and surround yourself with solid objects. EVen at short ranges, if you stand out against your surroundings, you are easily spotted. EDIT: Oh, and I'm not an arse, just thought it acceptable to kill people like that as it seems to be in most servers I have been on and received the same treatment. (AAS)

    3rd person versus Egoshootermode

pvp should be first person view only. Everyone is limited the same in their FOV keeping things 'fair'. 3rd person view does not fix FOV limitations and you are in reality trying to compensate for a lack of spacial awareness that cannot be experienced through a monitor although the free look ability helps the issue somewhat.

    M107 & KSVK anti-materiel

No need to make excuses for BIS, they dropped the ball on this. They spent more time on visual quality and making a few drag and drop game modules for the editor than making anything right. Yes, they have a small team, but I've seen whole game companies that were smaller then the dev team BIS has that didn't ignore such major factors. The hit point system was a major point of complaint from the last game and was promised to be replaced/improved. It did not happen and once again the community will have to try and do something about it. Let's be honest, it is not as if they had to come up with a brand new game. BIS deserves credit for the improvements they have made and for adding features that the community felt were needed in the original and so modded in. However, let us also criticize where it is warranted.
