Arma 2 Weapon Ranging and Correction Tables

Maybe there is just inconsistent results or maybe atmospheric modifiers we are not aware of? I recall one day getting variable accuracy with it in regard to aim point but when I tested today I was able to score head shots at 500m aiming with the first mil dot in other words, consistent.

actually I guess I was mistaken, further testing has shown no such discrepencies.

Great job Malloy On a side note I believe the scaling is off on the M107 so the aim point changes between the standard scope view and the zoomed view. Will have to verify though.

    Stance indicator

I'd like to have no HUD with a key to make chat visible and for the VOIP to always be visible when someone is speaking just to overcome the recognition handicap of team mates.

    Some Thoughts on Multiplayer

There aren't any good missions out there really. Pobeda Dam is fun but it isn't special in comparison with other AAS missions. @Galzohar I have no idea what your concept of teamwork is but if people are running willy nilly over the map it is not teamwork, even if they are communicating. @Whisper Just because the game makes all of these toys available to us does not mean they have to be used in every mission. Having no vehicles does not remove the fun and neither does utilizing a smaller portion of the map. However it is possible to have a well designed mission that utilizes the entire map too. @Lincoln For a convoy ambush mission I would suggest Have 2-3 gun trucks or HMMVs as escort, possibly LAVs if you are going to allow a good amount of satchels and RPGs (assuming the convoy is USMC) and the attackers 1 gun truck and the rest transport vehicles. Then the rest of the convoy vehicles be simply supply vehicles. It would allow the attackers to get in place but not allow them to overpower the convoy and try to not make it a very long route, you could then allow respawns and people could wait to start a new convoy, then the victory conditions for bluefor would be something like X number of each type of supply vehicle that makes it to its destination and place it on a timer so that opfor wins if they do not accomplish that goal. ---------- Post added at 06:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:40 PM ---------- Actually I have an idea for a mission dealing with insurgents that will leave the map wide open for both sides. It would require forced spawning based on server population though to ensure there would be players for both sides in the same areas.
  6. The statement is technically true, but very misleading

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

How many people have died in front of you? ---------- Post added at 05:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:38 PM ---------- Haven't too many historians written about wars that aren't over yet so your comments about how many people have died in the middle east as a result of the wars is wrong. Murder has nothing to do with WAR in general terms and that is what most have died from. The many murdered innocents have nothing to do with the wars we are engaged in.I said the MOST selfless acts, I did not imply that ordinary people the world over do not engage in selfless acts, you misunderstand what I am saying and it isn't limited to diving on grenades. For my sacrifice and love comments you can disagree but then you haven't experienced it. ---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:51 PM ---------- Here in the US we lose more soldiers to training and to drunk driving than we do to combat. These days it is nothing like in the past. Of course you think about it when the bullets are flying but it really only gets to those that dwell on it. It really does put things in perspective though and teaches you not to worry at the petty things in life and you learn to appreciate the things of real importance.

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

As far as you being misinformed I would suggest you research instead of swallowing the lies that the media has sold you about the middle east, if I try to answer, I'll end up writing a novel. As far as what is wonderful about war? Well I will tell you that only in war will you witness the most selfless acts, the greatest sacrifice and the greatest love for your fellow man that is possible for a human to express. But I also said it is the most terrible, so don't get ahead of yourself. ---------- Post added at 10:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:32 AM ---------- I think your user name explains a lot.

If you don't want realism then DONT BUY A SIMULATION. Pretty simple.
  10. The ultra realism of A.C.E. is pointless if the missions do not support it. That is a bigger issue.
  11. BIS games do not support a subscription business model. They could charge for additional content, but when what you get out of the box isn't even complete, who wants to pay a monthly fee while waiting for the game to work properly?
  12. To get AI troops to be mounted by default edit each infantry's Special setting to In Cargo and they will start already mounted in any vehicle they are grouped with.
  13. Actually, that's rather inexcusable.

Actually you are quite wrong, it is more correct to say that crazy leaders have used religion to manipulate people into killing people to enhance their own power.---------- Post added at 10:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 PM ---------- That sounds intense.

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

Well actually it refers to behaving as if everyone behaves in an ideal manner. I have nothing against people behaving this way, it would be great if everyone did, however that is not the reality and several people who went out to prove the goodness of mankind ended up murdered. Strive for perfection, but be a pragmatist. ---------- Post added at 07:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ---------- Do not talk of that which you know nothing. You have a very odd mindset in regard to what pacifism is but I am willing to bet a fortune you would not hold to those beliefs. Only those who are frozen with terror refuse to defend their own lives and that is not a conscious choice, however, good luck with that and I hope you never have to find out. I actually got angry at how misinformed you are, then I realized how confused you are as well. I don't think anyone needs a lecture about war being bad except maybe some young ignorant child that has seen violence glorified and never realized his own mortality. Just be glad there are people willing to sacrifice their own lives to protect yours.

    Some Thoughts on Multiplayer

LOL I was making a comment earlier about this in a different thread. The difficulty here I think is that the most talented mission makers aren't interested. I'm just starting to learn but if you want to toss it my way I'll be glad to add my input.

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

Pacifist is just another word for idealistic idiot. Sure it would be wonderful if the world worked that way, but it doesn't. Religion is not the problem either, just the people who use it for their own personal agendas. It is simply the nature of man and I do not see that anyone would be willing to sacrifice their humanity in order to achieve world peace. If they did, it would mean the end of the human race. It takes a special breed to want to be a soldier and those people all give different reasons for it. It isn't about being fearless or violent. War is the most wonderful and terrible thing you can ever experience. It is something that a silly video game could never prepare you for. VBS is a very useful tool but anyone that uses it to train their troops is a fool and anyone that believes it would be used in that manner is naive to say the least. Its only real practical use in military training is for command and control. Battlefield commanders can utilize it for practicing communications procedures etc. etc. in a simulated battle environment. This saves the military a great deal of expense because they do not have to mobilize an entire battalion or brigade into the field to accomplish their tasks which is very costly, uses munitions that are better used in more important exercises on the small unit level and burns fuel and adds wear and tear on the vehicles and weapon systems
  20. They don't continually feed info IIRC they are just able to report your location at the time that you kill them.

    HE rounds and soft vehicles

I unloaded on a venom yesterday with a vehicle mounted grenade launcher. 100 grenades and it kept on going ---------- Post added at 12:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 PM ---------- Minor correction, that model was designed in 2001, it was later released on youtube to help people understand how the ballistics and vehicle models behave.
  22. If the players are serious they should be communicating and that is how you know where they are. You can never truly know which direction the enemy will come as they are not forced to come any specific way unless it is scripted AI but stopping a convoy is the mission, pretty obvious they will be on the road. Also, if you don't know what the enemy looks like compared to friendly units, that isn't the game's fault you are lacking observational skills. I haven't spent a great deal of time playing yet so I am not familiar with all of the roles and what is available in the missions, what features are static and what ones must be added by the mission maker. So, the things that are most needed in order to achieve the kind of play you are looking for in a manner that is consistent and easy for JIP, players coming and going; on the map screen an interface must be present to allow the player to see who is actually in their squad, this is important because although you can see names in the lobby, this can change over the course of play. Each squad needs to be auto assigned as a group for communication purposes. The person in the SL role needs to want that responsibility, it is up to them to keep the squad together. If at all possible, a high commander position should be available to coordinate everyone. Mission objectives should be somewhat linear with the exception of side missions. Main missions that have you in Pavlova 1 minute and Berenzino the next are absurd if they are intended as battles (ala Domi and Evo)Warfare type missions with dynamic FOBs would be ideal especially CTI scenarios that are specificly designed for pvp (all units occupied by actual players)not for AI with a little pvp as the end game. Most people play multiplayer games to pit themselves against other human beings, competition is what drives them and points do not matter as much as outmaneuvering and defeating an opponent. Coop is better played with friends, it is the solitaire of multiplayer games.
  23. I've had this with several nvidia gfx cards and they weren't overclocked at all. It generally is a result of threading issues but what's causing it is a mystery
  24. I personally haven't had any issues with the Javelin but a note about the M136, IRL it will take several shots from an M136 to destroy a tank, and it is a single shot weapon, no reloads.
