    SP Mission Berenger

    That's crazy talk.
  3. Where pray tell will you find that? ---------- Post added at 11:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 AM ---------- Oh and why not contact Valve in the first place since it appears to be an error on their end, I'm running on Steam fine. Is it possible that you tried running the game while in online mode without a connection? That could possibly have caused such an error. The only DRM Steam uses is Steam itself.

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

Regarding Katrina, don't put words in my mouth, I made clear the difference between those groups of people, and I've been there. You can blame FEMA all you want to but it is a deflection. I agree FEMA was a big sloppy failure, however, the local government is responsible for its citizens, on the federal level it is to come in and assist the local government, not take over the state, but that is what had to happen because everything was such a mess and it wouldn;'t have been half as bad if they had maintained their levees like sensible people, not that sensible people would choose to live in a hole under the level of the ocean, on the coast. Oh and your photo is from two different sources so there is no parallel drawn from each source to provide comparison. Besides, I'm talking about people taking televisions and stuff, not trying to find food (granted they are healthy enough they could have evacuated which a lot of very stupid people did not do). Vietnam: Our involvement in Nam began in 1959 and steadily escalated. American deaths increased exponentially year by year and American military numbers increased more and more, leading up to the Tonkin Incident and your article has a bit of misdirection in it because it clearly states there were two reported attacks. The second attack supposedly did not take place, however, the first attack did. The number of troops requested continued to climb with the escalating attacks from the NVA and the VC and there even was some Chinese involvement but its something that was swept under the rug because it would have been an impossible war that likely would have drawn the Soviets in as well. Requests must still be submitted for additional troops and must be approved. Final authority to send troops was not given to Westmoreland until 26 June of the following year due to 5 major attacks on Americans in less than 8 months. Remember, up until this point we weren't even sending troops in to fight, the ARVN were doing all of the fighting, the first ground troops were sent in to protect American military advisors and US air crews. The first major military operation by US troops was in October 1965 when the 1st Cavalry Div. assisted the South Vietnamese Marines and they managed to reopen the highway from the coast to Pleiku. The first major military engagement of US combat forces didn't take place until November and everyone can recognize that one from the movie "We Were Soldiers" To state that we went to war in Vietnam based on a lie ignores the 5.5 years of involvement and suffered casualties at the hands of the VC and NVA prior to that incident. Let us also be intellectually honest here "the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution), which granted President Lyndon B. Johnson the authority to assist any Southeast Asian government considered to be jeopardized by "communist aggression," this was also intended to counter Khrushchev's 1961 statements about fully supporting "wars of national liberation". I cannot even follow your logic in your statements about Iraq to even pose an answer but maybe you are trying to tell me that a self proclaimed pacifist that is ill informed can make better decisions regarding such matters than those that have years of experience making those hard decisions. I dunno. On topic, I think it is safe to say that my answer to the OP is a resounding no. ---------- Post added at 11:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:13 AM ---------- Stay on topic. :D
  5. That isn't it because the first scenario mission is on Utes and the difference is the same. AI is certainly a performance hog but I think also there are perhaps many scripts and things running in the missions that will sap cpu power and it isn't so much how much of the cpu gets used up but it delays threads between the HDD and the GPU causing the choppiness, but that's a blind guess. I just notice that higher speed cpu gets better performance like 2 core 3.0 vs 4 core 2.4, those extra cores are not making a difference in the speed that the game is being processed (or so it appears if you look at the armamark thread.

    Has anybody got full performance

yes please, that's a very vague question.

    Lagg Solution

Most issues are on the client side. There are plenty of people that can play the game without issues (not counting all the bugs and stuff that's got to be patched. but that is gameplay mostly). There ARE performance issues due to poor optimization (performance not changing when many settings are changed over a wide range) but regarding "lag" there seem to be 3 types: 1) is good old net lag which has 3 parts; a) The first has to do with interference between the host and the client, BIS cannot fix this. b) The second is due to the net code. It could be better but generally, connecting to servers in your home region offers good connection speeds. c) Server bandwidth. If the server cannot/does not provide enough bandwidth for the number of players logged on, you will experience desync and connection related issues. 2) Is called system lag and it occurs when there is a bottleneck in your system, either cpu, gpu or storage medium (HDD). 3) Is called mouse delayed response. This one is difficult to nail down because complaints from players could stem from bad drivers, incompatibility with the mouse acceleration and for some inexperienced players even the built in muzzle sway features may be described as mouse lag. It appears that there are a good number of people here that are learning to troubleshoot these issues on their end judging from their posts.

I understand what you are getting at, but it is a poor argument

I can't get .paa to work for anything. Jpeg works fine. tex2view crashes any time I try to browse for my image files but I have used the photoshop plug in, still the game wont read them but I know they work as I have seen others with them.

    Spawn Camping....?

Well you definitely wont have to log in and blindly spawn into a massacre, niether would you leave the perimeter open and undefended for them to simply walk in
  13. if the person is a voted admin on the server and not the actual admin I can see that as a real issue, you cant have people running about banning people and trying to dictate to others how they will play on servers that are not even theirs.
  14. so in other words they didn't really store on my pc, hmm wonder why

    SP Mission Berenger

haha true, but a few grabbed it many hours ago hehe and it's a relatively short mission. It was a shameless way to bump my thread though :D

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

Hmm I'm not searching for it. There were statements from one of the Inspectors about it (matter of fact I think the report is even posted on your precious Wiki), the military tracked large convoys moving into Syria as well as statements from a citizen that supposedly was a driver of one of those trucks and testimony form a former Iraqi General. Do the research yourself. This occurred shortly before the invasion e.g. it was already in motion. You think Syria is to be trusted wit WMDs? Aside from that what was it going to take? For 8 years we told Saddam, allow the UN to go in and destroy this stuff or else. Well, or else became resolution after resolution after resolution, that was reason enough to go in and it just proved also that the UN is a useless and impotent organization that constantly makes threats and promises that they never intend to back up. I'm sorry if the US doesn't work that way. Saying behave or else we will tell you to behave again doesn't work with a child, just how effective do you think it is with a depraved dictator? Back to Vietnam? Again I expected more form you, because you know, you've read so many books, I suppose you think McNamara wasn't a buffoon too. Regarding Katrina, it's a shame that some of those people didn't get the help they needed, most deserved what they got, most particularly the trash that was looting and shooting at rescue workers. Don't weep for the plight of people that have no desire to do anything for themselves though, those that deserve the help and sympathy have already moved on, rebuilding their lives to the best of their ability. The rest of the blame lies on the Government of Louisiana. What do Cuba and Venezuela have to offer that we need? We have everything they could have offered in greater abundance than they do.
  20. what is it for? I see a whole bunch of empty folders named after missions. Is it supposed to save the mission files or just act as a temp file cache?
  21. Rocket, you are quite mistaken, there is a great deal that is no longer relevant to ArmA 2 and even tools that will not work on everyone's computer. Also, just because people know how to do things doesn't mean they are willing to help others (which is annoying because while they are not willing to share their work they are more than willing to tell everyone how great it is). If you know how to do all of these things that is great but don't look down at others if they don't, not everyone had a C64 in the 80's :P

ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

When you are stashing things all over the place most especially Syria, in order to avoid arms inspectors, things tend to get lost, if you think terrorists could not have gotten their hands on some of those things I call you naive. IRT Tonkin, you are missing the point I wan't arguing whether or not that even occurred it was the fact that you presented it as if it were the sole reason that we were involved in that conflict, as if it were the only event leading up to our full involvement. I also am perfectly qualified to state what your intentions are, this is the internet!
