I am with ethne, I love the longer draw distance. I agree it should probably be more adjustable, i think removing some of the detail is a better option than draw distance.
-
Awesome work.
VOP sound is excellent, but this, this something special.
-
I noticed that your map renders grass much further away than other maps.
Can i replicate this?

Offtopic:
Clawhammer, would be kind enough to tell me where you got the snow map at?
-
There is a mod I believe that will increase grass distance but why do you think it is only rendered in a certain circuference ? Performance... increase everything add lots more objects etc. and the performance will be even more dyre than it is now.Do you have any idea as to what the mod was called?
As far as performance I would gladly trade texture detail or anything in the game for a 1km of grass. My computer handles the game pretty alright.
-
Add -nosplash at the end of your desktop shortcut properties If I recall.
-
some servers can set the render distance of grass. Is that adjustable client side, because I am more interested in single player anyway?
If so, do i use the developer console or what?
-
Increasing the visibility does not increase the distance the grass is drawn out to. It just increases the bigger stuff like trees and mountains. My main problem is with the horrible looking trees and ground at anything more than 500 feet away.
-
Is the problem with grass textures and long distance drawing fixed either through mod or developer.

The difference between the textured grass and, worse than ofp1 muddy texture is just too much for me too handle? Has this been fixed or can I fix it on my end?
-
The plane is sexy too, any J10 planned ?
An early model F-16 with a red star on the side?
-
As of now I play the game with no grass because the texture pop in is the most annoying and distracting aspect of the game.
Is there any plan to change this or is this different in the full game compared to the demo?

AMD X2 +7750 2.7ghzI am running that processor at stock speeds and it handles ARMA very well, I do have an 4850 though.
-
AMD X2 +7750 2.8 ghz4GB DDR2 800mhz ram
and now... HD4350
how will this rig run it? cause the gfx card kinda sucks..
I have the same processor and 2gb less of RAM, but i have a 4850 and the game (demo at least) runs wonderfully even with lots of units, so I imagine your system should be ok on the processor intensive things.

I will take some screens and post.
Fraps is the best I here, so I will use that and then upload to image shack.

How do you change the settings on the ambient combat module?
I understand lots is not in the demo, but the javelin is listed in the demo, but no matter what i do I seem to get the SMAW.
-
Just an update for the mid rangers out there
This is on the demo mind you.
AMD 7500 running stock at 2.7
2gb RAM single stick
ATI 4850 512mb
Most settings on high
Average 40 fps.
-
1. Does ambient combat work.
I have put a module on the editor and nothing ever happens, i will go to x4 speed, and nothing happens ever.
2. No javelin or M107
Even when i select these i seem to get the default sniper or the SMAW

Not quite my point rabs, there are lots of games that command 'AAA' prices that don't give you a fraction of the content, features, capability or long term and mod expansion support you'll get when you buy a BI game -- and it's something a lot of prospective Fans aren't even aware of as far as what's 'under the hood' of a BI games...I understand your point as well, but BIS, as a hard working and appreciative company that it is, does not do that out of the wellness of their hearts. Those modding and editing tools, sell a lot of copies, its a selling point.
It would be like a COD game without multiplayer, its a major component of the product they put out, and if it was not included they would sell less copies.
So no, I do not think that BIS deserves special recognition beyond us paying them and being like "good game guys."
They include those tools to sell copies of the game, and therefore I really don't think I should have to give them extra appreciation for something there doing to try sell games. (successfully to me at least)
-
But likewise an equal and some respects greater amount of appreciation should go to Bohemia Interactive for sustaining such a stellar and sustainable mod and content capable game platform where they could so easily choose the greedy path pursued by so much of the gaming industry...I did, I gave them 50 dollars. :)

I really think this man deserves something, rather it be a T-shirt or a free copy of the game or a signed poster or a PC whatever.
He has single handedly been the most effective marketing tool for ARMA2.
For example, today, I heard his movies being talked about the PC gamer podcast, as well as the hundreds of thousands of views his movies have garnered. Alas, just look at the comments
"omg, must have this game"
"what game is this, I want it now!"
etc etc.
His movies sold me on ARMA2, on the atmosphere, on the style.
So if nothing else, he needs a shout out of respect for helping ARMA2 achieve success and possibly being the biggest driver of sales for the game and you know, doing it for free and the love of the game.

Hope you get something cool from BIS, like a signed poster or something.
P.S. recent quote from his youtube video
"SOLD! just preordered my copy.. can't wait to co-op this baby.."

Vista Ultimate 64
I would say your pretty well set to play the game however damn well you see fit to play it.

So you think that upgrading my video card won't help? What if I get some extreme stuff with 1024MBs?
I don't know anything about video cards, but what about "GF 9400GT 1024MB DDR2" and "ATI Radeon HD4650"?
Those are rather expensive (350zł so it's aprox 100$ after calculation to dollars... but it's not equal...)
Not to be a jerk dude, but you might just want to save up some more, because those cards are still considered to be heavily obsolete for modern games.
Also, regardless of how good of a graphics card you get your going to be bottled up by your CPU, and you have to be careful of the power requirements as well. You want at LEAST a 450-500w PSU.
Why not make the short hop over to Germany and go on a little shopping spree at some more favorable exchange rates.
-
If going by those gauges on that benchmark, theres no way in the world a 2.0ghz AMD dualcore is going to be able to run the game at reasonable level. So this guy upgrading his graphics card wont help.
I dont understand, I am worried about my 7750, vastly superior to a 3500, running the game on normal settings with a 4850 but if he gets a 4850 with his chip he will be able to run it on normal.
It just doesnt sound likely to me.

Russianguy, let me know how the game runs for you as I basically have your same system except with an AMD 7750 BE

AI problem.
Ok a little back ground.
I open the difficulty settings and set friends units to novice and enemies to expert. Save.
Open up the editor load UTES, USMC squad on one end RU squad on the other.
Move way points to each other. Play as USMC rifleman. I lay still and roll around a little bit. USMC squad annihilates RU squad with 1 loss.
I play as a Russian marksman, I lay still and roll around a little bit. RU squad destroys USMC squad with no losses.
What gives?
This is stupid. it removes any challenge from the game, because your presence on a particular side seems to make them super men.
