OS - XP
Was able to boost OC with 4gig of ram vs 2gig with the new low voltage. Increased score by 500pts.
Unfortunately it did not change a thing in Vista. Still get around 3500 in vista lol. Big difference from xp to vista.
Wow nice score.. Perhaps my system is being stuffed up by Vista..
Now is this score in Win XP 64 Bit or 32Bit?

I'm glad to hear because I was running the dgame with your exact settings and was getting the same results with my Q9550 @ 3.4 and a gtx 260.How is the 295 working now and what are your fps?
Funny thing is that it has not changed much in the "cities' Still 30-35avg. Maybe why I didn't pick it up earlier.
In the wilderness its 40-60fps with avg of 48.
Before I was getting 29fps no matter what I did, whether I had shadows full or not etc..
I still think SLi is not being fully utilised but, new drivers bring new hope ;) The load balancing graph shows 65-70% Sli efficiency which is not the best!
-
Frag, what fillrate and settings are you using? It's a bit shocking that your system suffers frame drop, since I wouldn't know what else short of a cray we could use instead.
1920x1200
Fill rate 100% (set manually in .cfg)
Settings
Viewdistance = 3.5k
Textures - Very High
Text memory - Very High
AA - High
Terrain/Object/Shadow - Normal
PP - LOW
Now I have played with all settings one by one and FRAPs, doing a little benchmark by running around a set course (not 100% accurate but it gives you and idea)
I run once to load the textures into memory, then record it.
Basically Textures drop my AVG by 1 going from Low to Very High
texture memory, Like wise Anistroptic filtering does not affect my performance at all.
Draw distance is negligable performance diff say going from 2500-4000 may lose 2 fps..
Like I said I am having difficulty in getting SLi going, I am just about to try after cleaning out drivers (I tried 4 drivers to see if any diff).. Going back to 186.08 now.
EDIT:
WOW FINALLY: Got SLi working!! Things I tried before but worked after using driver cleaner and re-installing drivers.. or could be new profile I made using nhancer?
Anyway what i did is clean drivers, install 186.08
I run game with -winxp -cpucount=8
Nhancer profile is copied from Arma 1, but I enabled multi core optimisation and of all things I used AFR-4 (Quad sli) * I have previously tried evry single setting in nhancer and didn't work *
Anyway that fixes one problem, no doubt nvidias next driver set should encompass a native profile for this game that works properly. I know I have been trying for days to get SLi going and when i almost gave up it seems to have kicked in.. I will do more testing and see what was the cause, as I know a lot of others were having SLi woe's, some managed to fix via "crysis.exe" trick, some used -winxp etc..
-
I don't have this problem. I can look at the ground 30fps, spin between 30-40fps and at the sky up to 70fps. Not to be an ass but maybe your hardware is the limiting factor?I hope not, at the moment I would say I have a state of the art PC. While I know that each game is created differently, and each engine works differently I would expect this game to perform better then it does currently. My system is
i7 @ 4.2Ghz
6Gb RAM 1600
GTX295 OC'ed
Xfi Xtreme Gamer Fatality ed.. Ie pretty much the best system money can buy (aside from going quad sli). I never had expecations of running at 100FPS etc, but I was hoping to run more then 30-35 FPS @ 1920x1200. My ArmaMark II score is approx 4400-4700 on my detail setting, but in game it just suffers a breakdown.
thats called cpu bottleneck which it seems you have.If I have a CPU bottleneck I pitty 99% of other users.. Sys specs as above.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate the game, the size etc, but clearly there are plenty of optimisations that need to be done to the engine aside from the mission bugs. I knew when I bought it that there were a lot of bugs, but i thouht performance was optimised for multi core/high end gpus and perform well on said hardware. I know at the moment my SLi is not working properly, so card is really a gtx275. I will loan my mates GTX285 and 4890 to test see which works best and i think the 4890 will beat out my gtx295
-
I am getting a lot of CTD bugs in this missoin now.
I have done this mission 3 times, one time I got the 20 min warning but nothing came of it.. just kept on searching couldn't find him.. 3rd attempt I did all missions backwards, and got the 20min warning after searching 2 "X' locations, the power station and was on my way to stolnichya (sp?) when I got the message.. Right after starforce came to pick me up it said he got away and then missions stats followed by CTD...
Frustrating, as I like these open ended missions but these CTD are more and more common as I get further into the game.
Anyone actually found/caught the guy ? Or is the script randomly stuffing up?
-
May have been covered earlier, more then one save slot. Also don't autosave on exit without asking.
Create a configurable context menu.. Say one the player can use/edit for their most used commands rather then having to go through heirarchy in menus.
-
I am sure it has been mentioned before, but may as well throw my 2c in.
SLi/Xfire support... Come on if your game only pumps out 25-30fps on high end rigs wouldn't you naturally ensure you support the best (dual GPU, even triple/quad) solutions for the game, so we can enjoy the experience just that bit more?
Pretty please?
-
Yes, definately need tweaking! Looking at any white object during the day is painfull.. Looks like "Oblivion" magical items on the ground..
Have you tried to run with the Noblur-NoHDR mod?
-
The engine obviously has a long way to go in optimisations. Another test, I look through the forrest and spin I, get say 30 fps.. I look at the floor and get 30fps, i look at the sky and get 30fps.. Its like I am limited to 30fps no matter what I do. Clearly there are engine problems, and hopefully BIS is working hard to correct them. Unfortunately I am sure BIS does not have the resources at their disposal that a big studio has so will have to be patient. But you never know!
-
I run all details at low on my 9600GT (except textures) and get 20 frames avg. Changing stuff only adds/removes about 3 FPS, only the textures make a more noticeable impact.
I know the 9600GT isn't the fastest card, and 1920x1200 is a high resolution, but this card matches the RECOMMENDED specs, so you should either be able to play low resolution- high details or high resolution low details at 30 FPS.
9600GT is not really a card that is capable of 1920x1200, really starts bottlenecking over 1280x1024. 8800GT is still faster then the 9600GT and that is a 2yr + old card. I feel your frustration, I have a GTX295 backed by a 4.2Ghz i7 and it still chugs. Just wait for nvidia/BIS to come to the party, I am sure some optimised drivers will help a bit. Problem with the 9600GT is its low bandwidth/texture fill rate. But yeah expecting to get any playable framerates at that res with that gpu is pretty much no go. But see how things go with patches.. my game seems almost locked at 30fps almost no matter what setting I play with.

@FraG_AUDon't know if you saw my last post, so here again:
After renaming the arma2.exe to crysis.exe, did you make sure to make the changes in the NVidia Control Panel (such as SLi rendering mode) for Crysis and not for ArmA2?
Yeah I did alter crysis.exe profile in nvidia control panel. Tried all the tricks I can see on this forum but nothing yet, may well be a GTX295 bug? Don't know at this stage. I will spend some more time playing about with it.
-
I dont have another OS unfortunately, I need to purchase a 64bit OS though to get the full use out of my ram.just annoys me how they cannot properly support these graphics cards.
Hi mate, I can't get SLi working ATM either but have seen some people have apparent success tho I am yet to see results in ARMA Mark..
Try renaming your exe to crysis.exe (didn't work for my gtx295)
Also add -winxp to your shortcut, and -cpucount=X (whatever cores you have)
My best score on normal is 5300 odd @ 1920x1200 (all on normal), I get approx 4300 with mostly high settings, BUT thats irrespective of whether I am using multi GPU or single GPU.. (I7 @ 4.2Ghz).
I bloody hope they get SLi support soon, as without it the game can't be enjoyed at a decent res.. I am just hoping to get extra 30% FPS which will bring me to a consistant 40fps. ATM I pretty much get 30FPS no matter what I do, almost like a FPS limiter.. Anyway its only "beta" days at the moment so fingers crossed.
Also try to get rid of the HDR/Blur effect, people seem to get some good gains from that too. But yeah my GPU tops out at 50C, wheras every other game it gets to 70-75 when using SLi.
I am compiling a heap of scores from runs with diff settings, command lines, and tricks to see what works best, hopefully I will have some solid info by the weekend.
-
I have a 2 card setup, but I have spoken to someone with a 295 and read a post from someone with a 295 that this sorted the issue for them, but ive read other post's where it hasnt so it does seem a little hit and miss at the moment, me personally it worked and I saw a large increase in frames.Yeah, I'm unlucky at the moment then :( I will try some more over the next few days, an extra 10-15fps would keep the game at 40+ which will keep me more then happy. We all know its pretty much a beat at the moment so i'll just enjoy the campaign and fingers crossed as to what happens.
-
Look at the specs over and over again and the reviews and you will realize that the GTX 295 is a GTX 260 in SLI.Wow, you like to troll huh?
READ, GTX275 IS HALF the GTX295!!!
When I run my gtx295 in single GPU mode it preforms EXACTLY like a 275 (as long as i overclock it which I do!)
http://www.hardware.info/en-US/news/ymiclZqYwpqacZY/nVidia_GTX_275_is_half_a_GTX_295/
^^ Perhaps read this.
Man, you slow or something? if you have nothing useful to contribute, please leave this thread for people to post their scores and configs so we can see if we can get some idea of what hw is obtaining what FPS.
-
Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Look at the total memory size, bandwidth size and other factors. It's a GTX 260 coupled with GTX 280 stream processors. Just so that you know those articles you link don't help your case and if you bothered to check a GTX 260 Core 216 SLI setup in certain cases outperforms a single GTX 295.Dude, get a clue, trust me I have owned pretty much every card since Rendition V1000 chips so I know my hardware. I provided the links if you cared to look.
NOTHING to do with friggin benchmarks. We are talking hardware NOT benchmark. Regardless the benchies are @ stock, i run mine higher.
GTX 285
1Gb Ram
512bit Bus
32ROPS
80TA/F
240 Stream Procs
GTX275
896Mb RAM
448Bit Bus
28ROPS
80TAs
240 Stream Procs
GTX260+
896Mb RAM
448Bit Bus
28ROPS
72TA/F
216 Stream Procs
GTX295 =
2x 896Mb RAM
2x 448Bit Bus
2x 28ROPS
2x 80TAs
2x 240 Stream Procs
Ergo, GTX295 = 2x GTX275.. (CLOCK speeds aside, as I said I clock mine 650/1400/1150)
Hope this helps you understand.. and make YOU realise you have no idea.
-
You should know that a GTX 295 consists of two GTX 260's not the 275.Sorry, but you are incorrect. very close to the 216SP model but has 80TAs vs 72 TAs of the 260. GTX285 has 80.
Basically GTX275 was half a GTX295 so they could quickly counter the 4890 (which they failed to do..)
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3539
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3498
EDIT: Obviously clock speeds aside (tho i have clocked mine beyond GTX275 speeds anyhow)
EDIT2: And obviously GTX285 has 512bit bus 1gb RAM plus 32 ROPS vs 28 ROPs.

Try renaming arma2.exe to crysis.exe, this got SLI working for me.I have tried everything, spent a whole day with ARMAMARK2, FRAPS and tried every setting under the sun. I simply cant get SLi going on my setup. Tried Crysis.exe "trick" (tho makes no sense in regards to SLi, i know nvidia was cheating to get better crysis fps way back but that was to do with mip map levels etc? dunno if it worked for you I can't argue with that)
I have tried AFR1/2, split frame rendering etc, benched the crap out of it _ALL_ day (i have 4 weeks off) and have not managed to get any extra fps. Still get same with Sli on/off on the driver set, tried 3 drivers (182,185,186 beta) and 186 was best for performance for me.
Do you have a GTX295? or a 2 card setup?

PS> My GTX295 is really a GTX275 as SLi is not working at all. I have run tests with 2x gpu on and just one, and also ran tests with different render modes. Obviosuly there is a lot of untapped performance here, to give you an idea my GPU temp after 30 min of play never went over 55C, wheras playing other games hits 70+
Also CPU @ 4.2ghz was barley used, so PLENTY of room for optimisations.
If anyone has managed to get SLi working please tell me :), I should have a 50+ FPS once this gets fixed up, lol may just go back to ARMA/ACE and enjoy the FPS there while the bugs are sorted here :)
-
Your settings perhaps too high for a 8800GT. Try lowering textures etc and see then? I have a GTX295 and i7 @ 4.2 and game runs slow for me.
-
I'll try again with new switches, prob just have to wait for new driver or BIS to fix SLi/CF (looks like everyone is having this problem, I am sure it cant be that hard to get it right, esp since the game is so taxing on GPU you would expect multi GPU support for people who want to play this in all the glory!)
-
Changing to AFR2 gave me around a 2fps increase, however renaming the ArmA2.exe to crysis.exe gave me a massive increase, give that a go if you havent already. That would assume you have a crysis.exe setup in your Nvidia game list. It would not affect the SLi working or not?
I have tried all the GPU render modes to no avail, simply my GTX295 is running like one GTX260 at the moment (ie a dog).
Dissapointing having a 4.2ghz i7 w/ 6Gb RAM and GTX295 and can't even achieve 30fps in normal->high. I am sure new driver release/patch will fix this oh well was hoping there was an easy way.
PS> I tried the crysis.exe did nothing (out of despiration).
I get same frames on 186/185 driver set. About to try 182 driver set see if it helps.
-
game 'is' using sli if you follow the tips in this thread.my 9800gx2 had massive improvement, like 20-40 fps more
What TIPS in this thread?
I have tried the AFR 1/2 and no diff still get 25-30 fps on a bleeding edge PC. This trick was insinuated too..
-
I have the same problems, using 186.08 drivers ATM.
Tried AFR1/AFR2 no difference. WOW very dissapointed at the lack of GTX295 performance, a GTX285 is faster then mine at moment.. SLi ON/OFF made no difference at all in my game so not using SLi.\
I will check 185 and 182 drivers now see if there is a difference :(

SLi Support (Or lack thereof!)
in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING

EDIT: Ok, seems that another user found a solution..
try using crysis64.exe and -winxp in command line.
It didn't work for me until I did a fresh install of vista however it did boost my fps on old install from 35 avg to 40avg. Now I am pretty much on 60fps avg.
EDIT2: I give up, game went back to dogshit.. Was fine playing SP campaign so I went online to see what kind of FPS i will get now, and wooshka, back to shit 30fps in multi and 35-40 sp. Its like I have kicked in FADE on my german digital download version.. what gives. Oh well if they dont fix it soon I'll wait till next year to play :P
Once again your milage may vary, but worked on a clean install of x64 as I said. I have tried Win 7 7201 (had stutter problem), x64 sp2 works perfect from clean install, i was going to try xp 64 but wont need to now. So yeah try this and report back..
Ok, I know there are a few threads with regards to diff adapters, but I can definately confirm that SLi does not work.
I thought I actually had my SLi working, but realised somehow it was just my shadow/object detail settings that changed the speed (Very high -> Normal) -> During a crash Arma somehow locked out my "advanced" menu and I had to manually set back.
Now I have tried EVERY trick listed in the forums.
Using Crysis.exe to "enable" sli settings
Using -winxp
Also tried using -cpucount=4 / -cpucount=8 (I have a i7)
I tried using nhancer and loading Arma Profiles, Crysis profiles and modding the two.
Now you can activate sli by doing AFR, but all you manage to do is split the same workload into 2, not double the horsepower so to speak.
To be honest the game runs better when I am in single GPU mode.. 4900 vs 4700 in armamark.
Now I challenge all the people that think they have SLi working to run Armamark 3 times with MultiGPU and SingleGPU mode and tell me the difference? I am yet to see a system in the ArmaMark thread that has SLi get past my score on my settings.
I have tried 4 different drivers (182->168), with 186.08 providing best performance, (unistalling and driver sweeper to ensure nothing got left behind).
Basically SLi is broken, I would like to know if BIS intends to support SLi for a game engine that clearly needs it.
And if you do have SLi working, please use ArmaMarkII and run it with SLi on and SLi off and post your results, perhaps run everything @ normal settings, with PP LOW and whatever res you like (please post your settings).
I don't know if this is a problem with my particular setup
i7 @ 4.2
6Gb @ 1600Mhz
GTX295 @ 650/1400/1100
X-fi XtremeGamer Fatality
Vista X64 Ultimate (all patches)
Please don't just post it worked for me, unless you have some concrete proof.
PS> the -winxp did give me a few fps, but thats in both SLi/Single GPU mode.
EDIT: I am hoping this can become a constructive thread for SLi users (I don't think xfire works either, not for people I know anyway).
