  1. Hi,

from release to now AA2 performance has increased significantly (also due to newer nvidia drivers). Still I never get above 25-30 fps online no matter how many player no matter if highest or lowest gfx settings.

What's the cause of this ? I have a 2x4GHZ E8500. I really don't see what is limiting the performance...

  2. Hi,

Gamestar (large[st] German PC gaming magazine) reviewed OFP2. The test is not yet available but some information were leaked and posted on ofp2.info:

    http://www.operationflashpoint2.info/news.php

    - the engine obviously cannot handle more than 40 different units at a time (freeze)

    - overall score: 78%

    - most aspects were 8/10, story 4/10

    - campaign is boring and way too short

    - excellent hardcore mode

    - excellent AI, almost like real human players, sometimes stupid

    - vegetation not destructable

    - strong editor (whatever that means compared to AA2)

So I guess OFP2 will not at all have the possibilities of AA2 but it might have better gameplay, might contain less bugs and might be really fun to play. Realism depends on the current setting. Still it needs a community to offer enough content after release.

The 40 unit limit could be a bug (possibly fixed when released) or could be a real limit. Then I don't know how the large map could be used to full extent. 40 units are just embarrasing.

    *edit*

I forgot something: OFP2 has excellent framerates and highly optimised graphics.

  3. Hi,

I am looking for a script/ logic/ addon that does only the following thing:

    - If fps drop below x, reduce viewdistance as much as needed

    - If fps is above y increase viewdistance up to c

Maybe something to smoothen the process.

There is a tool called FPSSaver but it first decreases the terrain detail which is not what I desire.

  4. Before complaining at least try these settings:

    InGame:

    http://www.pic-upload.de/view-2424480/Unbenannt.jpg.html

(btw. "Sehr Hoch" means Very High)

    in .cfg

check if refresh is @ your monitors default

    put hdr to 32

check if render is at 100%

    use -maxmem=2047 -cpuCount=2

    in Forceware V190:

    pre render = 8

    Vsync = OFF

    use defragmentation tools

This gives me 35-60 fps in the craziest situations and makes the game fully playable. And I only payed 700€ for my rig.

    C2D 2x3.8GHZ

    GTX 275

    4GBDDR2

    WinXP

Setting Texture Quality to High Performance also adds some fps. Visual quality seems to be the same (almost).

  6. Hi,

i have 35-50fps on highest settings in complex scenes AND multiplayer.

This is how I did it:

    WinXP

    defrag

    Forceware 190

    in Forceware Menu:

    Max pre rendered frames =8

    VSYNC off

    in ArmA:

put HDR precision (in the .cfg) to 32

    disable FSAA

Doing this give you additional 20fps in all scenes. So actually the GTX cards are "broken". I wonder how much performance you could get if it was just better optimized.
