  1. Hello there,

There is another thread about making a "mod" folder for the language patch in other areas of this forum.

This, for me is the easiest way for adding the translation, but I assume it will be implemented in a future patch. But who knows when this will be? (apparently the next one is due soon, but I dunno if the language files will be in that one)

I'll try to dig out the thread for you soon, but keep trying as it makes the game far easier to play for us english speakers!

    Rgds

    LoK

Found It, (remember to use the ADVANCED search, it makes it far easier to find stuff)

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73665&highlight=mod+language+patch

The info you need is a few pages in.

Oh, and be aware there will be some translation errors and missing text, but it is a rough, non official workaround. Works fine in SP and MP too.

Thank you for this thread, it sorted my English Translation issues as I did it via creating a mod, which the readme mentioned nothing about! At least now I can see the menu in English.

    Many thanks.

  2. Are you sure you did it right? If you follow the instructions it will work for you, it has for me 5 times on 5 different systems.

What do you mean by unblocking the files via their properties?

I mean, the instructions are pretty clear, not to sound like an ass.

I'm pretty good at doing stuff like this normally, I have done it EXACTLY according to the instructions, when that didn't work I checked the files I'd transferred via their properites screen and there was an option to "unblock" the files (because they "came from a another computer"), so I unblocked them and they still didn't work.

I'm as confused as you are. I'm not a noob!

    Cheers

  3. Grab the english language patch if you can't be bothered with translation!

As for using the ACM, it's a piece of piddle

    1. Load Chenaraus in the editor

    2. Press F2 to select groups

    3. Double click on the map and choose whatever group type you want.

    4. Press F1 to select single unit placement

    5. Double click the lead unit of your group and set it to playable using the control drop list

    6. double click on the map away from your unit (too close and the next unit you place will be grouped automatically with existing units, which we don't want) from the "side" droplist, choose gamelogic, on the next drop list (which currently says location), choose module. On the unit type drop list, choose ACM (ambient combat module)

    7. push F5 and drag a line from the ACM to your squad leader.

    8. click preview and enjoy

The Editor is a very powerful and EASY tool to use - as I say, just search the forum for the english language patch to make your life easier. It doesn't activate fade, and can be run using a mod folder if you don't want to overwrite your existing german language files.

    Thank you.

I've tried several times to track down the english mod but to no avail. Does anyone have a link? Otherwise I cant tell which option to choose for the ACM!

  4. I have the german version and I don't have the time to get involved in the translation and creation of missions, but when I played Arma I used to just set up small scale battles in pretty countryside, with myself and a squad or two fighting random battles.

I understand that things like the Ambient Combat Manager can effectively create a war around you, yes? Would someone please be so kind as to create a bunch of missions which do the following:

    1. Place me with a squad or two in an area of beautiful rolling countryside, and set up the ACM so that I can go in any direction and just enjoy whatever happens next... nothing else if required - I don't need any "events", or cut scenes, nothing complicated.

    2. Only if possible, link to the missions in a form so I can see how you've done it in the mission editor and have a stab at adding/subtracting units to change things now and then, ie I might want to add some vehicles to my units perhaps, etc.

It's not that I'm lazy, I've read the forums and I've tried to make the missions myself but I can't get around the translation issues and I frankly don't have the time.

I truely am surprised that nobody at BI thought it would be a good idea to include what I'm requesting in the shipped game - with their knowledge of their own project it would only take a few minutes surely, and add such a lot for gamers such as myself who don't want complication, just randomness and rolling countryside to fight in!

Many thanks if you can help.

    John
