In Dogs of War, ArmA 2 keeps crashing when saving the game. I don't normally save often so this wouldn't be a big problem, but the 1.02 patch the game auto-saves every time a village is captured or lost. This happens a lot, so I only get to play maybe half an hour between crashes.
Oops, wrong forum. I can't seem to delete it though so if someone could move it that'd be great.

I captured Lopotev on the island and brought him back, but when I get into the truck the Russians send it just sits there. I am supposed to trigger something?

I picked up the campaign where I left off (a Warfare mission) and I'm seeing quite an improvement.
AI driving seems pretty decent now.
Had a few crashes (out of memory for file operation or something), but nothing major.
Performance is still bad (25 fps in campaign no matter what).
Sad to see AI still sees through grass.

It's kind of funny how you can be dying and screaming on the floor and friendly units not in your squad just walk by like nothing's happening.

5. My impression after blowing up a building and walking 10ft into the air on invisible rubble has mostly been

While driving people around in a truck in multiplayer I noticed that quite a few ground textures are very noticeably different from the air (truck 3rd person view) than if I look at them on the ground.
Not really a big thing, but weird anyway.

Infinite sinusoidal-shaped hills of gravel.
Somewhat odd is that the texture from the air looks different than when you land.

Can someone confirm/deny that the digital download version of the game has limited installs? There's a chap in the troubleshooting forums who's apparently gotten his key locked by reinstalling too often.
If it is, BIS has lost me as its customer. I seem to have paid 40 EUR for the privilege of downloading an unplayable mess with the promise that it'll be fixed at some point in the future. Now it turns out that I can only install it X amount of times before I get locked out?

There definitely some simulation of inertia going on. Just compare a pistol to a machine gun.
In any case I got used to the lag and have no trouble being deadly. Frankly, I feel it would be bizarre if one day I found it missing. This isn't Quake after all, and it should be played as such.

The last patch was called "final", does that mean they are currently not working on further patches ?It was called 1.01 final, in contrast to 1.01 beta.
I think it's going to take a lot of patches tbh.
-
Hopefully they will release the promised 1.02 patch tomorrow, because 1.01 is terrible.
-
Sure, why not.
-
3rd person view is a bit unrealistic, but I think it's acceptable when playing against AI since they ignore grass and apparently some obstacles.

Helmet 1: I like your goggles.
Helmet 2: Yeah? You're not too shabby either.
Helmet 1: How about you and me get together for a drink once this is all over?
Helmet 2: Sounds good.
Helmet 1: Here's my number.
Helmet 3: I'm so lonely.

Nope. I was playing and thought I'd crush the car, but it got stuck.

It is always fun to see people speculating over thing they dont know at all.Meh, you'd be surprised how many people on the Internet are bored programmers, either professional or hobbyist.

For example, if I press left, even very gently, it starts a "move left" animation which moves my character at least one foot left. This is incredibly annoying if all you are trying to do is peek out round a corner, or shuffle inside a bush so you can see through a hole. You strafe left, but you go too far, so you strafe right, but now you're back where you started so press left again. Back and forth trying to press it gently enough that you can move just the few centimetres you intended. Very, very annoying - and I've never known any other game have this problem.Have you tried walking?
You can't move precisely while running, doh.
-
I don't think I've ever been TKed in ArmA.
The biggest problem seems to be people who know how to take off, but not how to land.
Even then, if you pay attention you can usually eject before dying.

Weirdest bug so far. My whole squad decided to point their weapons straight down and promptly got slaughtered by OPFOR.
-
Use cover, walk for faster response time, move after sniping, and prone & crawl if engaged in the open.
and most importantly, lower enemy skill level to around 0.7-0.8 or so ;)

Happened to me. I reloaded a previous save and tried again and it worked.

Try emailing their customer service.

You can't merge them AFAIK, but you can transfer your units to other squads.
Couple of questions, regarding securom, and formatting of the Pc

This would've been good to know when I reinstalled after a misapplied English patch.
