Look at things from the bright side, eg. choppers crashing into trees make many infiltration missions a lot easier.
-
press shift and - (right side of kb above +), then enter endmission
There is no prompt or console. If you do it right the mission ends.
-
There's no 3rd person view or crosshair on Veteran or Expert.
-
Well I played through OFP, Resistance and ArmA 1 campaigns, and I agree with him.
-
most games when they are first released are plagued by crashing, lockups etc... apart from a dxupdate issue the game has crashed/locked up for very few.The majority of complaints are about performance, which doesnt do the game justice.
Quite frankly I don't know what you're talking about. I've had more problems (gameplay issues mostly) in ArmA 2 than all the problems in all the games in over a decade that I've been playing games, and that includes OFP and ArmA 1.
-
what are you on about? The AI is great, better than most other games. What are you talking about? The AI is horrible, especially in towns. They have no real concept of defensive position, they stare at walls, they run right into enemy fire, etc. There's no useful way to tell them what to do either.
Worst of all there's only one AI for everyone. Riflemen, AT soldiers, machine gunners, snipers, etc. all act the same.
The game needs heavy scripting to mask this. There's nothing wrong with this. I had tons of fun with OFP and ArmA 1 campaigns.
-
They should've just stuck with small scripted missions like in OFP and ArmA 1.
The AI in ArmA 2 is far too dumb to have any sort of convincing "emergent" gameplay.
-
They say they have problem with standard AA before and have to replace it with fillrate, maybe they change some coding to make AA finally functionable in 1.02?But there was AA in ArmA 1.
At some point someone must have thought "hmm this will break AA, but who uses that anyway?"
-
No. I finished it, but only so I could say that I did. I had to do everything five times due to all the damn bugs, and the warfare interface is terrible atm.
-
I wonder what they were thinking when they didn't include AA in the first place?
-
The AI in this game has no sense of self-preservation. The other things you mention might be bugs.
-
I think it just sets all enemy skills to 1.0.1) In the Difficuilty -menu, when you choose to edit one of the difficuilties, you have the option to enable "Super AI". What exactly does the "super" AI do to make that particular setting different from the ordinary AI -"Skill" -settings?2) Can you use Team Razor in the editor?Yes.
-
You can't send units or create squads. My suggestion is just to just spam the towns with BRDMs.

I am somewhat disappointed by these responses.
How anyone can prefer the new game-y sci-fi computer interface crap to the good old eminently immersive notebook is beyond me.
-
I have no idea why some people get such piss poor performance in Arma 2 with rigs that trump mine into pieces. For me Arma 2 exceeded my expectations by tenfold in the optimization department, I can finally buy the game without hesitations.I`m also excited to imagine what I could be getting in a month or so with a performance optimized Arma 2 patch,OC-ing my CPU some safe 300 mhz to 2,1 ghz and new ATI drivers.
The demo benchmark is not representative of the full game. I get 53fps in the benchmark, but 15-20fps in later parts of the campaign.
-
Title says it all.
Personally, I am somewhat disappointed by this unnecessary replacement of the good old notebook with this new nondescript interface.
-
It's playable if you have extremely low standards and nerves of steel, yeah.
-
so is it like if the demo runs good that the actual game will run a lil bit worse or ?..It would make sense to assume that anything that's been fixed in the demo since 1.02 will be in 1.03, so no.
-
Similar problem here. All I had left was to deal with the insurgent base. I flew around and around but couldn't find anything.
Used endmission and the game ended. Meh.
-
I'm going to try this out to see if has more fixes than 1.02.
-
Same problem here.
-
It's a mix of the two. It has missions, but a lot of them are sandboxish.
-
Hold Fire means "don't fire first". If they get shot at they will ignore the order, which makes sense.
I agree with the rest.
-
Finished the campaign.
I've found that what the AI lacks on the ground, they make up for it in the air.
A serious letter to bis, even though they won't read this

I've had the game for three weeks and I've experienced zero lockups and only a few crashes. Most of them related to trying to import ArmA 1 islands.
