Yes, yes, and yes. Not only do they see through cover, but also buildings, hills and vehicles. This is one of the bunch of stuff in ArmA 2 that's actually worse than OFP/ArmA1. This was reported on the bug tracker on Day 2 of German release and reviewers complained and there are repo missions, but no words from developers if they even consider it a bug, much less if they'll ever bother addressing it. But it sucks because it makes it very frustrating playing on veteran/expert without map markings you have no idea wtf your squad is reporting on. -

It seems they tried to get it to run on consoles, but failed. So it's more "we can't figure it out" than "we don't port to consoles on principle" :) -

What are you firing? Some things like RPGs only arm after they've travelled a certain distance. This is true to life. -

The magickal healing is on all difficulty settings in ArmA 2. Also, Team Razor can take an ungodly amount of damage. Something like ten shots to the chest with an assault rifle point blank on normal difficulty. Then they roll over on the floor yelling for a medic. Medic waves his hands and they're back at 100%. LOL realism :) -

Maybe CM will make a game that's playable right out of the box instead of relying on the community to patch things up and implement decent game-play? :p I meant the magickal healing in ArmA 2: -

I've restarted Dogs of War after patching to 1.02 and experienced about a 1/3 drop in fps (from 30 to 20). Then I rolled into Chernogorsk and got around 10 or so. Now I've been given around 8 squads of reinforcements (mostly useless because the commands are so vague), and I'm starting to get fps in the single digits. There is serious lag in the high command interface as well. When I click on a squad icon on the map or bring up the buy units menu, there's a delay of several seconds. In ArmA 1 I could just turn off shadows when things started slowing down (and did they) but this seems to happen on every graphic setting. I am running this on: Q6600 at 3ghz 4gb ram 4850 1gb Windows XP with latest 9.6 drivers

Digital downloads have limited installs. Limited installs are inconvenient, but I'm told that they protect us from terrorists. -

Turning down graphics gives you an advantage in most MP games. We used to run MP with a software renderer in some games when this was still an option. It looked like crap but it was easier to detect enemies. -

That's funny I could swear that in the most popular MP ArmA 1/2 CTI mission you can teleport from the base right to the battlefield, which removes any need for transport. That's not how to I remember ETQW. The games I played required excellent coordination & tactics and knowledge of the game's many subtleties. Lemming strategies were trivial to defeat. If any game resembles lemmings it's ArmA CTI ;) It's not that you can't have teamwork in ArmA or that it's not fun with the right crowd, it's that there's no real need for it beyond the need you yourself project on the game. Other games like ETQW do it better by requiring teamwork to win. -

ArmA 1/2 MP is not the place to look for teamwork. Like it or not, teamwork in ArmA is an big inconvenience, so you'll only find it on private servers. Don't give me that crap about the unwashed masses on public servers. I played ETQW and the worst public server had more teamwork than the best ArmA 2 server. That's because in ETQW you didn't get anywhere alone, while playing alone is the best way in ArmA. -

Seems like DR isn't the only game where headshots aren't lethal and can be cured with medkits -
I was always under the impression that people who sold these keys just stole them (wrote them down) from retail stores.

24fps was chosen in cinema because film was expensive, and 24fps was throught to be a minimum acceptable value. Human eyes can perceive specific frames of much shorter duration (up to 300fps according to some).

I retried OFP with ECP recently and it doesn't work well at all. Setting the view distance beyond 2000m kills it completely.
