I imagine the it's a Steam issue (again). But if you guys do know anything please let us know. I have a feeling Aug. 26th is an international release date unless you have Steam.:j:
-
Second question then, if anyone knows the answer: Is the BAF Sprocket release compatible with the OA Steam addon? And if so, can I launch all of these through Steam using the 'Launch ARMA2: Combined Operations' option?
-
Why is it not going to be released on Steam for another 8 hours? (2200 GMT).
-
Most frontline units in theatre have ACOGs attached to their SA80's/Minimis/L86's.
Just have a look through some of these photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/defenceimages
You may need to go a page or two in.
Nice review Dead3yez although the EOTech still bugs me:p

That's the badger, thanks Monkey;)
-
Sorry, probably didn't make myself clear. What do I need to do or what units do I need to be able to use any versions other than the SUSAT one with no RIS? Stalker's MTP units will only make use of the SUSAT version.
Cheers.
-
Loving the EBS on the SUSAT but sadly I'm a bit of a klondike and have no idea how how to use the ACOG variants.
Any help (again) please?
-
Aaaah, thanks for that:) Anyway, off to have a mess about with them.
-
Fantastic work, I've been waiting for these.
Quick question, will these work with Stryker's MTP units? By that I mean if I delete your original weapons pack will it 'spawn' the units with these latest variants?
-
-
Aaaah, nice. Didn't realise you were making the OpFor Warrior and not the BluFor one.
And I'll be very interested to see how you make the bar armour close to real. I think I read all the OA Stryker's did was have extra hit points to simulate bar armour, which is a huge cheat to me.
-
So Rock, is your Warrior going to be as it is 'today'? WRAP2 armour (even though it'll make jack difference with hitpoints), bar armour, ballistic glass for the commander and gunners' hatches, same turret and cannon?
Just curious:p

Is one of the projects the Chinook HC4? Would love to see Project Julius implemented in ArmA2 before it is in real life (end of 2011 I read):p
Second guess... The Mastiff/Ridgeback PPVs?
Third and final one.. Warthog APC?

If Rock's A400M is anything like the real one we could get it late and have to pay for the privilege of having it;)
Just been playing around with the Tiffy Rock and there seems to be game crashes when engaging certain units, e.g. BRDM-2 with CRV-7 HEDP/Mauser/PWII or the Mi-8TV Medevac with the Mauser. Just a freeze and the only way to get out of it is to press 'esc' to go back to desktop.
This is on the Helmand Valley map running Combined Operations so that may be the problem but I see no reason why the game should crash just by engaging targets.
All said and done though, it does at last feel like a proper aircraft with proper handling. The BIS models all feel light but with mushy steering.
Edit: Bugger, wrong thread:o

Ok, not the most clearly worded quotes but I'll leave it for you to decide.
In addition it will be possible to project imagery from PIRATE (IRST/FLIR) directly onto the HMS.The helmet also incorporates night vision aids using light intensification and provision for Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) imagery. -
Thanks Rock, that explains a lot. I also forgot to say before that this is, without a doubt, the best add-on for ArmA2 that I've played.
Also, if you do find a way of making the HMSS work in a way you're happy with, will it have FLIR? I'll try and dig up the source but the HMSS is supposed to have FLIR as part of it.
-
Just a quick question Rock, is there any plan to implement your own Helmet Mounted Symbology System (in time, of course) for the FGR.4? From what I've read 17 ® Sqn are to be getting it within the next few months and Eurofighter want Coningsby to be to be the 'centre of excellence' for HMSS training.

Yes but most of those vehicles are now designed/modified with IED threats in minds. I'd love to see BIS implement some form of better damage system rather than hitpoints. Also the ability to plant IEDs in the tops of door frames, sides of walls and in portable objects (i.e. wheelbarrows, and yes this has been used to effect before, sadly).
A better medical system is something I'd also like to see. The Coalition in Afghanistan and Iraq put an absolutely huge emphasis on extracting casualties whether they be military, civilian or enemy. For instance Stage 1: Secure the casualty and administer basic combat medicine at the scene then extract by land or air to a main base for advanced surgery. Not having to do the advanced medicine but things like tourniquets and chest compressions would add far more to the immersion of the game than *First Aid* and one minute later the guy's running about like Linford Christie.
If BIS is going for the MilSim arena and basing the game on the current theatre's of operation then medical care needs to be taken a good look at as well as IEDs and just how deadly they really are.

Rather than the vehicles which are generally just knock offs of widely used US equipment, already in game. <- That might be controversial. : )
WMIK Landrover
Ocelot/Supacat SPV400 (Snatch replacement contenders).
Mastiff 2
Challenger 2 TES
Warrior IFV
Warthog
Panther CLV
Scimitar
Bulldog APC
Future Rapid Effects System (FRES)
FRES-SV (Scout Variant)
Plus many more...
I guess you can tell, I'd like to see the British Armed Forces (all three branches).
-
Anyway we need that back the the pilot without gunner can use the Hellfire correct like in real live and maybe also in radar fire-and-forget version of the Hellfire missile LOBL please.[YOTUBE]
[/YOUTUBE]Is this game really for you? Honestly, single-seating a twin seat attack helicopter? How do you expect to support your team on the ground if they need cannon fire on a specific target?
The Apache is not just a fire support platform but a machine with fantastic observational capabilities. You've got no magnification or thermal imaging, your cannon can only point straight ahead as opposed to ±120° in azimuth, ±30/-60° in elevation and you also have to fly 'down the barrel' to hit any infantry, effectively exposing you to small arms fire, which you shouldn't have to do.
And jumping between seats... :j:

Its strange that even in OA their is no Brit soldiers, we all know wherever the US goes our government decides to follow.;)
This might not need to be a spoiler but just in case:
In the last cutscene of the OA campaign it says that the British are sending more troops to the area to reinforce the Allies 'very soon'. A few months would be my guess.
Sorry for the off-topic.
-
Just happened to me. I had finished clearing the AAA sites and moved my ULB down to the northern edge of the defensive line. I then took my Apache down from altitude and as soon as I reached the defensive line 'mission failed'.

Fantastic work Stalker. Am I right in thinking you're developing for the PR team or would that produce pitchforks and torches?
