  1. I fully reinstalled the mod and it works now, the first time i downloaded it on Armaholic, it must have been a old version.

The Six updater could not even properly update it so a reinstall was required.

I can now succesfully fire the Hellfire missle.

Btw is the only way to select a target by pressing 2? (I'm quite sure the "next target" aka tab by default is removed)

    Glad it works.

To be honest when flying with an AI gunner and I want to assign him a target I usually select him (f2) then freelook at the target and select, eg, "Attack T72" from the command menu.

Ive had trouble making the AI Gunner fire when selecting using the 2 (target) menu... Tried with Fire and Open Fire command from the 3 (Engage) menu but that doesnt seem to have any effect, so I just use the previously mentioned method.

  2. Cobra, i select the hellfires, i select my target which is a tank and i wait untill i get the visual indication it's locked and i fire, they just fly straight ahead like ffar's

EDIT: i'm going to totally reinstall ACE with Six updater, what do you recommend ACE mod vanilla, ACE mod official beta patch or beta official beta patch?

Ok, youre doing this as the pilot via manual fire right?

Use the ACE Mod Vanilla config btw.

    Edit:

I believe its meant to be so that a single person cannot operate the attack choppers alone, they should have a gunner and this avoids the 'tab - fire, tab - fire, tab - fire' nonsense that you can get in vanilla ArmA2.

Basically, you will only get a hit if the missile is launched by someone in the "Gunner" position. Be that a human (i.e. you or a buddy) or AI.

If its AI in the gunner seat, simply make them switch to the hellfire missile (ctrl + f default to cycle through weapon types), and give them an order to attack the target.

If you're in the gunner seat its a little more complicated.

AGM114K's are laser guided and require the laser designator turned ON to paint the target, which must be left on until the missile hits.

AGM114L's are radar guided and fire and forget. Lock onto the target in the same way as usual vanilla ArmA2 i.e. right click / tab. Fire and forget.

LOBL - "Lock on before launch" mode is the simplest mode of operation. Paint or lock the target before launching.

LOAL-DIR - "Lock on after launch - direct" mode launches the hellfire which flies at "low" altitude (read : lower than the "Low" mode) and seeks for its target information after launching. For all LOAL modes the target should be locked in or painted very soon after launching to maximise the chance that the missile will hit the target.

LOAL-LOW - "Lock on after launch - low" mode launches the hellfire which flies at slightly higher altitude and seeks its target designation after launching. For all LOAL modes the target should be locked in or painted very soon after launching to maximise the chance that the missile will hit the target.

LOAL-HI - "Lock on after launch - high" mode launches the hellfire which flies at a high altitude and seeks its target designation after launching. For all LOAL modes the target should be locked in or painted very soon after launching to maximise the chance that the missile will hit the target.

Hope this helps clear up if theres any confusion. I actually havent tried the AGM114L Longbow Hellfires which are equipped on the AH64D in any of the LOAL modes, however - I dont think they work, probably intended?

  3. Sounds like youve triggered fade. Nice attitude btw, thats sure to get you what you want. Keep it up.

BTW: Dont use ACE if you dont like the features.

These guys produce something for free, you pay nothing, they get paid nothing. I cant imagine how you can have the audacity to come here and call it, quote, "absolute SHIT" with your incredibly obnoxious and ignorant attitude. Try pouring hundreds of hours work into something and see how you like people talking utterly undeserved bullshit about it.

  4. You may want to check this thread, I believe I saw this discussed in the past. I think the high angle needs to have a "heat source on" so to speak. In other words the targeted vehicle needs to have the engine running to use the top attack mode.

I saw this a while back but still haven't tested it yet. I probably should though cause I've been wondering if the top attack works for a long while. All I know is that if I place a bunch of Empty Armour on a test map the top attack has never works. Thus I kinda suspect what I read earlier is really the case but that's just speculation on my part.

Sorry I couldn't provide more concrete information.

I just tested using an "Empty" T90, managed to lock and hit without a problem. I do recall the discussion youre talking about though, seems to be "fixed"....

  5. Is the guidance problem affecting the javelin? There may be a problem there. Need to test more to confirm.

Tested some more and there is a change that has occurred. The Javelin does not do the high angle of attack anymore. Its as if it is on manual guidance like a TOW. There is a new site in the system now but no confirmation of lock. I tested by simply putting a tank on one end of the runway on Utes and me on the other. The site lines the tube up horizontally like an at4 so the missile comes out low. If you raise the tube it flies high and over the target.

I cant replicate this. Just tested it and it seems to work perfectly fine for me.... I get lock confirmation on regular and veteran difficulty, no visual sign of a lock on expert mode, but the missile flies correctly and hits the target in all cases. Tube angle looks good too.

How far away is the target?

Edit: just read it was opposite ends of a runway, same as in my test...

And are you using any other addons?

  6. Hi guys i installed this ACE package with the SIX UPDATER and it installed some folders on my ARMA main folder like @ACE, @ACEX, @ACEX_PLA, @ACEX_SM, @CBA and beta; but when i start the ARMA game everything its the same as before i installed the package with no changes on the game, what do i need to do?

    Thank you in advance.

PD. Im new on this hehe.

you need to load the addons by starting the game with them listed in the startup shortcut.

    i.e. for me:

    "D:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -noSplash -noFilePatching -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_SM;@ACEX_PLA;@LandTex;@CSM2

is the TARGET of the shortcut used to start it with ACE and a couple other addons

  7. Hi guys i was wondering how you get hellfires in the Ah-64 to lock on and actually got to the target? I know im probably missing something but getting a bit frustarting.

Hmmm.. I wonder if looking at the ACE2 Features page, which also tells you how to use said features, and referring to the Missile Guidance section might help.

    BINGO!

Nice job on looking for the answer before asking someone to find it for you (took 3 seconds).
