    ARMA 2? huh?

    ArmA/ArmA2 are the TRUE sequels to Operation Flashpoint, developed by the same company. OFP DR has mainly two things in common with the original Operation Flashpoint : the name, and the publisher. Codemasters had the rights to use the name OFP after BIS split with them many many moons ago and developed their own game. But it is NOT a true sequel. I'd actually say that graphically, ArmA2 looks nicer, but OFPDR has some very nice animations and if youre the kind to jerk off to peoples heads exploding then maybe OFPDR is more your thing. ArmA2 is more "sim" oriented. If you liked the original OFP you'll like ArmA2. OFPDR is more game. Console game that is. BTW: I play every day and there are no game stopping bugs for me at least, although certain system configs dont work so well. The campaign is also completely playable now, although I havent played it for some time as MP is where its at.
  2. Hm, im afraid your cpu is probably restricting you very much... GPU is also a little dated but i had reasonable fps on the same model, before upgrading... To remove the motion blur when you turn etc, turn OFF post processing. Also make sure your 3d resolution and interface resolution are set the same, which should also be your monitors native resolution. Im afraid that the vast majority of the settings most likely will need to be set to low or normal at highest. Certainly antialiasing at no higher than low. Set texture memory to "default" and it should figure that out for itself. Tweak a little around that for yourself and try increase settings a little bit until you find something that works for you.

  4. EVERY change logged might be a bit unneccesary.. maybe it would be nice to have some general idea as to what we should be testing if other things have changed, i.e. maybe someone on the team could tell us "test AI driving" etcetc

    Goddamn. I got home from the supermarket and decided to quickly browse before unpacking, and see what was new... 10 pages and 50 minutes later and my icecream is melted.... And there was absolutely nothing new or of interest to read.

Yes, it is sad that you and several others come to the REAL Flashpoint game forum, where fans of the true OFP series visit, and troll.

    the MP sounds.. well.. "handicapped" to say the least. Im positive that its solely so that the game works on consoles.... fucking bane on the gaming world. Whats the point putting a game on a leash on PC's?

    Actually, i think theres a lot of people here would are still interested somewhat in OFPDR. however. When you get people trolling like that jackass, whose name ive already forgot, just now who arent here to discuss it but just to troll and stir up some bullshit. i.e. i think his first or second post here this evening was something like "check this it totally pwnz arma2" or words to that effect, leading into a lot less subtle put downs (baseless too) he is surely not going to be met with open arms. Oh, theres a story?

    Actually, the ACE HuntIR will operate at a higher altitude than the real equivalent. So its not even a technical constraint.

    BIS fixes the engine. ACE will make it shine. Along with a whole load of addons. Thats pretty much how it is.

    How can you make statements on the realism of ArmA2 based on a (unreleased) addon? And even then, the thing that you pick up on is that they decided to let the HuntIR round go a couple hundred meters higher than the real life one - 1000ft or, roughly 305m if my magicalmaths serves me well. So basically theyre giving it a longer flight time to make it more useful to the player. I dont see how this is a serious realism flaw. And its not even a friggin valid point as its NOT ARMA2. its an addon. which isnt out yet. hows it going with OFP DR editing tools? still no sign? oh dear. Thats like basically saying that ArmA2 has serious realism flaws because the farm addon doesnt allow you to do a proper crop rotation.... Your previous post points out nothing. And i really dont get it. Would you guys go into someones house and piss on their rug and then expect to be invited for a cup of tea and complimented on your urinatory range and accuracy? Do you get many people trolling the OFPDR forums about ArmA like this? @Wolle: the amusing thing is his 'list' of things that the "feature packed" OFPDR has are actually 90% common with the "featurless" ArmA2...

    There is nothing revolutionary about OFP DR. Its actually for the most part nothing new, even steps backwards in a lot of areas. Other than the shiny graphics. Which arent really that good. Cos its a console game. there, i said it. I'm just as qualified as you to make this judgement. Get back in your cage.

  21. I dont know for a 100% certainty, but do you really think it takes 39 builds to implement the TH2G resolutions? i.e. id imagine other things have been changed.

    indeed. Graphics != neccesarily simulator realism. Realism fans dont really give a crap about graphics. hence people still play falcon 4
  23. you need to add something in the init section of the mission editor to remove weapons/mags and add the mags/weapons you want. eg "removeAllWeapons this; this addWeapon somethingsomething;" http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/removeAllWeapons http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/addWeapon http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/addMagazine This will get you started. The following will remove everything, add one 30rnd mag and a L86. removeAllWeapons this; this addMagazine "30Rnd_556x45_Stanag"; this addWeapon "ukf_l86a2LSW_susat";

    Thats very strange... i have a i5, 4gb 1333mhz, but a HD4850 at stock speeds, and I scored 4000 with the same settings as you for normal, but only 2400 with the very high settings.... my cards showing its weakness at high settings but its very strange that your normal settings scores arent considerably higher than they are.... Edit: I do use windows 7 though...
  25. That would make sense, since (hopefully) OA will be the point where the "maturity" of the engine makes it pretty much bug free and optimised....
