Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

The problem is there ARE so many studios out there that dont support their games very well after release and just want the maximum profit, people automatically apply their low standards onto BIS in terms of future support. Major hype? :O I've never seen such a HUGE PR campaign for any game. Propaganda would be a better term for it. But thats another topic...

Unfortunately thats SOP in the business these days, and publishers deadlines have to be met.....

you know.. given that most of us are probably going to have several years of enjoyment from this game, im not really bothered if it has "ambitious" hardware requirements. It'll run smooth as butter before long im sure either through better hardware, patches, or both.

Langnasan, I'm just wondering what you think you'll achieve through posting here still? All youve basically done is insult a load of people, spew a load of crap, and act like a spanked brat. Go play something else, if this game really is agitating you so much. Its not worth it. Thank god we have you to stand up for us against the bullies... Stop kidding yourself. If people break the rules, they get an infraction. Who gives a crap if the moderator has a sardonic attitude? Clearly you havent been looking around many other forums of "similar" genre games lately, then youd see nothing short of full blown censorship and abuse of power in action.

Wait a minute. CFS3 was released in 2002. Come back in 7 years time with the hardware of 2016 and see how ArmA2 runs....
  6. is it really OA gameplay? Isnt it just http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=5055 Razani island in arma2 wtih JTD smoke/fire and a few other addons? It DOES look great though.

OK. stop playing then. It is what it is. BIS are working on patches. Youre not helping, youre just spewing rants. This is neither alarming or a discovery. Find a way to be happy with it (like many others) without keeping an eye on your FPS or go play CFF. To the point of why BIS are working on an expansion while ArmA2 is in the state it is: ArmA2 is still being patched and fixed while OA is under development. Fixes and tweaks to the engine made for OA will be applied to ArmA2 for the most part. BIS dont abandon their products and their morals for pure money grabbing. Quite the opposite.

Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

OK then, my suggestion for you is turn off the FPS counter and look at the game instead and try enjoy it. It is what it is, this has been discussed countless times, BIS are working on it. People can suggest what they like, i seriously doubt very many people will drop $800 for a RAMdrive just for ArmA2, unless they really have money to burn. The game IS demanding for whatever reason and throwing more hardware at it does improve the situation. Just like the previous titles performance increases over time with patching. Nothing unusual here. And lets be honest, we can only speculate on the state of the code and its complexity. One thing for sure though, my overall CPU utilisation rarely goes over an avg of %70 over all cores.

Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

Just went to check myself in game. I get a higher FPS than you, yes on that mission, and I have a radeon 4850 512mb. I however have a core i5 750, i.e the game is CPU bound a lot more than GPU bound. Looking at the sky, with my regular settings - very high except terrain detail and texture memory/detail, normal AA - and i get 60fps (vsync on) from around 40 fps looking horizontal, in chernogorsk.

Guess what? Most of the time the graphics is not the bottleneck. Turning your output to "turd" settings wont do anything to reduce the non-graphic related processing going on.
  11. Windows 7? Tbh, unless you literally have money to burn, a RAMDisk solution to this just isnt worth it... Edit: but wait... http://www.rekenwonder.com/linkmagic.htm http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html check here for symlinks in xp...

    Is ARMA II ready now?

To shoot with your british soldiers :O!!!! To the OP: For me and my buddies playing co-op the game has been playable since 1.02 even without any real gamestopping issue. Mods which we use every time that really affect gameplay are SLX addon, Sound of War, RH helicopters sounds ( i think its called), TRSM tracked vehicles sounds, kjus low vegetation addon for much improved fps, and eh... thats about it in terms of gameplay. Unit addons are imo something that is purely aesthetical and id rather spend my time looking for something to mkae the gameplay better and increase the level of immersion...
  13. SSD will also give good results in regards to reducing/eliminating stuttering, though not close to a RAM drive... but a SSD will be cheaper and a lot more capacity.

    Dragon Rising has been released

There are NO PLANS for a dedicated server. NO PLANS. i.e. Its not coming. Dont hold your breath... actually... do.
  15. $120? wtf are you buying? Software is cheap. Id be happy to pay 4x the price for ArmA2, and still feel like i got a good deal. And its pretty standard procedure to have 1 user liscence per game...

I think his point was that its ironic that you say youll point out things that are retarded or untrue, when the majority of your posts can be summarised by those same two words.

    Dragon Rising has been released

CM are full of blatent lies and bullshit. I have no faith that they will produce anything of better consistancy than a turd for a patch.
  18. Sure. call it Kiska though, thats what the real island its based on is called!

    Dragon Rising has been released

Well, it was one extremely huge PR campaign. Unfortunately that sells more than actually producing a quality product these days.

    Cpu war ?

Having had bad experiences with AMD in the past, I stay away from them... However to the point of marketing, in the stores here whenever I go around I see almost as much AMD logos splashed around as Intel...

    Dragon Rising has been released

SDK would mean less need for DLCs, would mean less money for them. I.e. either after theyve released all the DLCs - a long time, or never.
