  1. A BIG plus for using a system like SIX Updater is the removal of the need to package and distribute the release via zip files etc, cutting down the amount of work for the author, especially when its a WIP and updates are expected. So i wouldnt hold your breath. Rather spend a few minutes getting SIX Updater working and learn how to use it. After all, hundreds of hours work goes into addons, and then people STILL expect the authors to basically deliver it to their desktop for them.

  3. looks like something is missing? Run the updater again. and then again.

just a fyi, the 1.05 beta patches still allow you to play on 1.04 servers.
  5. the servers may be using ACE2 mod which is required for play. little more detail might help diagnose the problem. Error messages etcetc.
  6. i read it PLA was to be "Independant", so the enemy is at the discretion of the mission maker.

    ArmA2:OHMOD Preview

I took that to be a language thing. And he means he then intends to move his focus to it. I could be wrong. And actually, who gives a shit. Why play without ACE?
  8. Hit synchronize on the "configuration" page first. since you need to update the list of mods.
  9. Can i suggest this gets updated in the first post to reflect the existance of the sound mod? might help people who cant figure out that its another download.
  10. A lot of servers (a majority maybe?) are running ACE2 mod now. This could be related.

    Beta 61362 Sniper

just tested, works fine here. FADE?
  12. In addition, the latest ArmA2 beta claims to remove a lot of helicopter crashes...
  13. Run six updater, start the web client. Click on configuration. Click on synchronize (leave the username and password blank). Mouseover configuration, click presets. Click "edit" to the right of the profile you have been using. Beta in my case. Scroll down to the "Mods" Section. Select "@ACEX_SM" in the drop down list. Click "Add Existing" Button. Click "Update" button. Click "Main" on the main menu. Select the profile you just edited. Beta in my case. Select "Install/Update" as the action. Click Execute. Edit: Run six updater as administrator in Vista/Win7
  14. Youre right actually, that part isnt very clear. That step isnt even required i believe. Perhaps its best to remove that step, i can see that part being a lot harder than the other steps such as "Click synchronize" or "Click Execute." Or maybe make it very very very very clear that you dont need to do it.
  15. alex, you cant get it from http://mirror.quex.org/arma/beta/ ?
  16. it really is very clear instructions. can people simply not be bothered to read it?
  17. worked fine for me. Maybe you were too fast and started DLing before it was fully uploaded

Im Reconsidering to Buy ArmA 2

nice logic.... pay the money and support the developer.
  19. well, then its as simple as using the web client, clicking "configuration" on the menu, hitting synchronise. waiting for that action to complete. Mouseover configuration, choose "presets". click on whichever profile youre going to use, i.e. beta. click edit to the right. scroll down to addons. select whichever addon from the dropdown list and click "insert existing" or whatever the button is. repeat for CBA, ACE, ACEX, and maybe some of the other stuff that catches your eye. Hit "Update" at the bottom of the page. Click on "Main" on the menu. Select "beta" as the profile and "install / Update" as the action. Hit execute. Some button names may be off.
  20. maybe its best at this point to follow the "Lazy" instructions from http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/ace-mod2/Lazy you basically skip using the web client, download one of the premade configuration files linked there, either for the arma2 beta or the vanilla client, and drop that file into the directory where you installed six updater. then you start six updater, press 2, enjoy.
