  3. :681:I dont care if the missions are realistic or not in every litle detail... How many of you were in the army??? not many i gues... People watch lots of documentary and movies and try to visualise the real thing I was in a army for some time...not in a war but i have some of the friends who have been in a Croatian-Serbian war Belive me when i say that theyre stors are musch different from moves and Documentarys (wee all know that even in documentarys producers like to change some things to make it more interesting) I went trough an infantry basic training than i was on artilary Zis 75 mm old bulshit AT gun, it has like 1200 kg (2400 pounds) witch we onley used to push up the hill and down (6 of us) When we asked why are we practising on that old pile of shit, the CO said because we have alot of ammunition for it and have to spend it anyway :P Late we got the real thing 120 mm gun What i want to say that 90-95% in war you are like in training, always marching somewere, carrying some load, patroling, building a camp, freazing your ass, sleeping in the wind and rain, and than you see some action (or you get shoot and end up home with out shooting 10 bullits) most soldiers dont even see combat at all, some se it one time and 20% of them se it more than a few times... So how to make an realistic mission when there was no real war in a long time and no one knows how it would look like if a two formidable oponents would clash with all the modern equipment... in the last 50 years most wars are troops against guerila...or a powerfull military country against a third world country (thats why there are guerilla, if you are weaker than you adapt to the situaton Its known that when Hanibal atacked the Roman empire he used unusual tactics for that time and managed to defet much biger and well equiped army, sloughtering 90 000 roman trops (the bigest loss the roman empire has seen in 100 years) My favorite campagne in OFP was the "Cold War Crisys"... because it had a dose of realisam and athmosfere and there were other units on the battlefield, tank and air suport I still remember the first time i played the first mission in CWC campagne... mission ended without my shooting any bodey (it showed that the war is happening and i'm not the hero that saves the day, im just another grunt in this massive assault) first game that had the mission were you acctualy have to gard a radar station at night, or recon for enemy AA, or escape from captivety and orientate your self by stars...things like that made it interesting and stand out from other game were in every mission you kill 200 enemy soldiers over and over again... "Red Hammer" was not that god because 90% of the time i was all alone or a smal group against mass of enemy units (rambo kinde of style), same thing with "Rsistance " campagne it dosent have to be realistic but it has to have atmosphere! like there is a war going on out there This game simulates battlefield so why make only missions like spec-op use the games potential, if it has tanks, helis and infantry use them all to make versatile missions Why onley focus on your group, put other groups like they have theyre job too and the mission will be more interesting if you see friendly units at your right side doing theyre thing, helis in air covering you and tank suporting the infantry What makes the game realistic and interesting, its not the addons, graphic or how the trops look like, its how the mission is designed and if it has the battlefield athmosphere!!! :681:

    Great mod, units, weapons, effects:) didnt read the previos comment so dont know if anyone told you about the Binocular bug...anyway i was courious can you make the conf. file for the units to use the same engageing distance as default units in Ofp (around 220m) Its a bit frustrating to play any missions because enemy units are a little to acurate at distances like 500-600 meters...especialy if the mission is set at sunset or night where is wery difficault to see an enemy soldier even trough a Acog optic and the enemy can see me with no problem and shoot me from a long way (units in my team start to shoot enemy and i can even see them, all i see is trasers and when a bullet hits me i see in kill-cam that i was shoot by a soldier at distances over 600 meter) i know that its more realistic, but still this is a game and wee have to rely on our eye vission to spot the enemy (and i play the game on 1600x900 so my graphic is smooth) and the enemy can see me as soon as i leave the cover and shoot me very quickly and from long distances... I tested a lot of mission an its realy frustrating to play this way-onley battles in citys are ok because its close combat but on a open ground AI i in advatage

Hi all i been away for some time but im back and i bring you my some news of the new ww2 islandin progres.:eek: As some of you were interested in how the island looks and wanted for my to post it well your wish is granted so here it is...     I bet OFP runs great now

    Yes i mean the slider in the video! if you set FPS slider bar all the way to the right it will force the game to give more FPS and can downgrade the LOD(the object looks a bit sqare'ish) on the object if you have a battle in towns for example and it causes lagg!!!but now i dont have much lagg problem so i can keep the both sliders to the right and the game runs smooth(never drops below 60FPS when playing missions in big towns and such) and the object do not lose any LOD (the more you set you "visual distance" slider to the right the beter the objects will look at long ranges!!!

    Well te stone bridge is ok, i tested it and i can drive accros and so can the AI while driveing slow and fast but the wooden bridge has some problems (you can drive accros but you have to reduce speed when aproching the wooden bridge, as for the AI well thre should be a waypoint about 20 yard before the bridge and set in the waypoint speed to "limited" that means slow and thay can go accros the wooden bridge to) but i think i will have to remove the wooden bridge and finde some other to avoid all the hustle with waipoints before the bridge!!! brighes are a bit tricky to put on the map because thay are not alligen to the ground and it's hart to level so they have to be a little lower than the terain but will try to corect them as more as i can! ---------- Post added at 02:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:07 AM ---------- about the every "deck" of the bridge on the other height, the bridges look fine in my game they are tip top... the problem is because you play the game with the Terrain detail set to normal in your option, set the terrain to very low and the bridges will be ok!!! I dont know why BIS made that option in the game it onley causes problem like these,and in missions some times object fly in the air if someone has the terrain detail set to normal someone to high ect...and the difference is that it onley makes a ground look a bit bumpy (if you set it to very high it looks stupid because driving on road is like driving over rocks!!

    I plan to make each city different, so other city will have paved road, maby different houses and such!!!i have been lookin trough some pictures of the citys from ww2 and there were some city's in the 40' that did not have paved road (lots of people were stil using horses and chariots for traveling use back then) and the city road had that dusty look... ---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 PM ---------- yes there will be ruined towns and willages I have been making islands for a long time and there are some thing that users should know! I could make a very good looking towns with lots of detail buth there are some problems with that 1- it would take a long time to make such island (more details the more time i have to spend workong on it) 2- OFP was not designed to handle lots of objects on a small area (it has to render them all and it will ipact the preformance on the PC) 3- detailed map it self can drop your FPS and if you also have 100 units or more fighting in that city your will have like 10 to 15 FPS (units AI uses alot of CPU) 4- it depends on what objects are used in the towns (more detailed objects can cause lagg on the city (LOD's and texture of the objects) 5-if the town has lots of detailed and narow streets the unit AI can't navigate trough streets, cars will keep raming them or will get stuck (one time i made a town with narow back streets and when i was testing units in my squad did not follow me...i would order them to get back to the formation and they would just stand still and if i tried to click on the map to order them to go to the other side of the street they would just answer "negativ" and i edited the streets to be a little wider, then the units would follow me and can navigate trouh them So its not always about making a good looking island because that island has to be functional or you will have nice island that is not working propery

    Is it possible to EDIT an Island?

    Here is a tip to test your island in editor easy and quick;(thats how i test all my islands without haveing to comprese the island into .pbo file every time i wona look how the island looks you want to use onley town from the airwolf island so do this, -delete all area around the town (as you already tried once) and save it under TOWN.wrp (just an example), now you do not need to do the conf.file and compres it into a .pbo file,,,, do this; -copy that TOWN.wrp and got to the "Worlds" folder in your operation flashpoint directory...now paste it there, -there you will see these files "abel.wrp", "cain.wrp","intro.wrp","eden.wrp" (those are the original island in the Game; abel=is the malden island... eden=everon...cain=colgujev...intro=desert island) -make a backup copy of the eden.wrp (dont forget to do this) -now remove the eden.wrp -rename the TOWN.wrp into Eden.wrp and thats it...go to the game and in the editor load the everon island (buth now it is not the original everon island it is your island with the town you wonted) some day when you had enought funn with your island you can restore the original Everon island!!!

    you are right about that...I just stoped playing COD 4 online and uninstalled it because every time i play it with my friends and go to TEAM SPEAK all i hear is bitching and moaning "god d...t"," mother f....r","that sone of a b....h","why wont you die mother f....r" and so on!!!:angryfire: And recentley two of my friends got angy at each other in that game like little children and did not speek for about 1 month:aa: 80% of those guys dont know how to play thats why they play arcade games they just now how to charge the enemy like in the ww1 tactics, no flanking or any thing else!!! COD 4 is not that challenging and is a little boring to me after a while (bullets go trough 5 walls and have no time travel so shooting with sniper is a walk trough the park and you can kill a guy with a pistol at 150 yards while jumping around!!! Here are 2 video i posted on youtube of my playing COD4 and kicking they're ass with a frickin shotgun and a sniper!!! Hmmm i wonder how long they would survive in OFP or arma---i think they would get lost somewere in the woods and die from hunger:rofl:

    Why is this game not more popular?

    one summer i took my pc and went to my friends place and we played OFP for about 20 days, i would make coop missions or we would just mess around with planes and chopper's...my best experience with OFP was when 5 of my friends got together(in LAN) and played one mission for 3 hours(now my friends never played OFP before i talked them in to it and the loved the coop) The coop mission was on some desert island i downloaded, we had two teams(each team of 12 men) in my team 3 human an 9 AI and if someone(human player) dies in our team we respawn by taking control of the next unit in our team so we had to be careful not to die to much or we will run out of team mates and game over for us) and our objective was to capture 2 villages 1 base 1 city and 1 airfield( there were a ton of enemy's), we started the mission around 7 o'clock and played it to 10 o'clock and it was pitch black by the time we finished it. We started with 24 units and in the end 4 of us survived... the funniest part was when we took over the base we had to go to the other part of the island so it was a long way and we decided to take a truck and other team found a heli (but my friend was not a good with flying) they got airborne and the enemy AA(shilka) started shooting at them so my friend got paniced, i told hi to fly lower behind the hill so AA cant shot him, but than he pushed the wrong button(insted of going down he got even higher and the AA drilled them like swish cheese... they flipped over and crashed but managed to survive(but they were all wounded and could not walk so we had to call medic apc support to our position)and we continued after a wile, the great stuf about this game is that we had to improvise alot on the battlefield use ambushes or retreat when tanks apear and finde some AT launchers and be alert all the time because you never know when or where the enemy is(because i made the mission by placing the unit and waypoint radius much higher so i could not know exactly where the enemy is...it just shows how much coop can be fun and unpredictible game play!!!

    I did test-play on the island that comes with the AEF railroad all across the map and i did not have any lagg as they said...the railroad model isn't that complicated to cause lagg and if its not the script its something else that is making his game lagg on the map:confused:...well ill use the AEF railroad for now and will see if it causes problems, in that case will try to replace it with something else!!!

    good looking stuff...i need help i'm making a ww2 island, i just releast a beta version http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=94624,well i would like to put some railroad across the island conecting the citys so can you make a individual railroad addon for my to use just the railroad, it doesent have to be functional the railroad will be good to give it a bit more ww2 look and for the athmosfere of the island. Since you are in the texture and model making and that railroad in the screenshot looks good, or could you make an simple one like the dirt road and insted of the road texture put the railroad texture so its just basicly a flat objext like road onley different texture it would mean a lot to me because im trying to make a big good looking island. Will give you credits for that addon!

    that's to much work for me to edit the jungle everon and AEF train conf.cpp i'm gonna mess up something (if i change the path-name in the conf.cpp then i have to replace all the roads on my island and the roads use the dirt-sound) can you edit the conf.cpp and send it to me (the island is about 10 mb, if you remove the .wrp file and some sounds (leave the dirt-road sound) and remove some trees and object it will reduce the size alot and they will not have the jungle island in the editor...so leave only the roads and road textures and adn road sound, rename the path in conf.cpp (the jungle-everon island is under ebe1.pbo) or other option is to leave it as it is and not put railroads (but i dont think it's the railroad models that cause the lagg it's probably the script for the AEF train) but railroads would look nice on the island (the railroad does not need to be functional it would be good for the ww2 atmosphere)

    There will not be any Gala Island update for now, because im too busy with the current island (i plan to doo 512x512 island that means a 25 km of terrain so lots of work) im just making a big city(looks good so far) with a ww2 look it will be good for makin urban combat and all big citys will be conected with raillroads!

    I know that the resistance forests look a bit different oposite to the ground texture, but CWC forest offer only Pine trees and the other CWC forest(the one that is a mix of different trees) doesent look that good(i tested it) specialy if i make a large forest area... Also i used Res-forest because i plan to make some parts of island with a huge forest area with the roads and railroads passing trough(also the combat is better in Res-forest, better for making ambushes and easy'er to spot enemy) will see how things go i future, but when the island is finished it's easy to replace RES-Forests with CWC-Forests and make two versions of the island and let the players decide witch one they wont to use! P.S. if you plan to go to that Alcoholics Anonymous to get rid of OFP ill go with you :803:

    I can't fix the roads...i used those roads from the "jungle everon" addons so they are using those tipes of values for speed same as the OFP v1.46 the speed was encresed with resistance roads (thats why you get stering weal loocked when driving in corners in resistance roads because the car is going faster)

Hello all you Ofp freaks :cool: Some of you now im working on a new island, i posted about that at Ofpr site...after finishing my first island i started working on a new, better and more detailed island...     This ground texture uses the same Resolution as the Nogova island And may by it looks a little blured because i set my game options of ground texture at 512x512 you can put it at 1024x1024 or higher! I tried some other tipes of texture but this one fits the best, others somehow dont match the objects( the green texture is a bit dark oposite to the bushes and the trees, this texture brings a bit contrast to the map and also has some additional new tipes of texture witch were good fo my tipe of the map) But it is hard to judge the aperance of the island jus on the looks of the screenshots once you play on it it feels diferent!

    New Gala Island in progres

    Hello all you OFP fans!!! i have been away from making the new island for a few months(a lack of free time) but im gona continue now. I was searching the internet for some object-addons and ground texture that i can use for my new island and i found some i like! I said that i will make a new Gala island, actualy i gave up on that idea, since i also love to play ww2 in OFP i wona make a diecent ww2 map! Im bassicly making this map for my self so i can make my own skrimish battles and mission but will share it with all the WW2-Ofp fans. Will use some locations from my previus GALA island and remake them! I made some locations and will upload a BETA version soon with all the object-addons so you dont have to search the internet for them. Island will bee simular to the France in 1940's (will make something like omaha beach later), the island wont be a historicly acurate! Im using gogle earth for some ideas and it is going pritty good so far! I'll upload some screenshots soon so you can have a preview of how it will look!
