    there seems to be units from the 4ID and 82AB marine expeditionary unit there (joke)

    i dont think codies knows the difference between the two, or both army and marines will be present.

    OR, maybe they are ripping off arma1's "Armines", giving USMC models with army textures :p

  2. sick new weapon? its just an SR25 (or an AR10 for that matter). those bitches is old! new weapon, LOL

    i mean they could just totally remodel each weapon from scratch even though they ARE the SAME weapon (from a functional perspective). different armies use different designations (FN MAG, FN MINIMI, Browning .50)

    the US MK.19 AGL and the brit one are VERY different devices.

  3. 5. Implement some sort of multi-player achievement tracking system and combine it with some sort of public player profile. Anything from "kill 10 enemies" to "successfully transport troops". Motivate people to go online!

    NO! not only is that a TERRIBLE idea, there is no way to build such a system for they highly diverse arma online game. so we can rest assured that we will never be playing, and have a little '"bleep bloop" Achievement unlocked! shoot the bad guy!'

    this game wont ever be a popular as other shooters simly because it is so hard. that difficulty is why alot of us are here

    What's it going to take to see 20k players online?

    honestly, there is very little that BIS can do to arma with out compromising it for us core fans. then you end up with a mediocre product like OFPDR that satisfies no one, where its too realistic for the arcade fans, but to silly for the realistic fans

    such a shift would have to come from the people them selves. they have to want a more complex experience

    alot of your idea simly are unfeasible. they seem to stem from some one who has little experience with the game, or little understanding about how it operates

    most aspects of MP are controlled by the mission maker, and to a lower degree, the server.

    a weakness of arma MP is simply there are way to many game types and variables. it simply is not COD with DM and CTF. there is hardcore coop, arcade coop, DMs, realistic DM, arcade dms, a 50 different flavors of warfare, RPG games, and more variants of them then you can shake a stick at. worse yet alot of the player made content has little or no documentation as to what it is or how to play.

    the thing i hate about arma MP really has nothing to do with the game. its the fact that most servers only have freaking evo, dom or other rambo tastic runarounds set on cadet difficulty. those that dont have no players or more addons than is logical. or the assholes simply kick you because they dont recognize you or you have the ignorant gall to ask WTF is going on and how to play that particular MP scenario, and they dont have the time to explain to some noobie

    arma MP is a complete mystery every time you log on (for us that dont have units and set friends and such). will there a be a server that has a mission you like, with difficulty setting you like, and that is not being hosted in russia off of an old shoe box full of string and rusty wire?

    you know, maybe thats why arma public MP will never be super popular


  4. are you talking about the secondary operation module (SECOP module)?

    if you place it in the editor it will generate little mini missions mid mission that you can accept or deny them

    if so its in both armaII and OA

    1.2 for sleeping (set to every 6 hrs atm)

    1.3 for warming up (set to every 1 hrs atm)

    so here this is the amount of time the action takes?

    there does need to be a bit of trimming back...

    eating should not take 2 hours. that is very very long. now if you had just killed something, and have to skin and cook it, yeah thats probably fine, but 2 hours is far too long to crack open a can of "tourists delight"

    (if possible implement both "raw" and "ready to eat" type meals?)

    as far as eating for healing, i dont think so. it seems wrong to be suffering from a 7.62 to the upper abdomen, only to eat a piece of bread and make it feel better. (something about stalker that bugged me, if you are getting really torn up, you run somewhere and hit your "use medkit" key a couple times and your good to go. or alternatively, eat 15 sausages in the span of 6 seconds)

    for game play purposes resting should do some healing. after all you are resting, and can tend to the wound, bandage it, and call upon your gods for your daily "cure minor wounds" spell :p

    Also you could try some sort of "regenerating health" option. now before you all flame me for uttering those heretical words, let me elaborate:

    use a similar method to stalker and have your heath slowly regenerate over the course of like 30 min. being well fed and rested allows for a faster heal, wile being tierd and hungry slows the rate.


  6. the difference being both valve and blizzard are both dev and publisher up to thier necks in personnel and money. they can afford to shamelessly delay a products to refine it in to an almost perfect bug free diamond. BIS cant. they need to release, then refine

    people are guaranteed to buy anything those guys make in droves.

    see if codies had that kind of reputation and dedication, im sure the game would be amazin' (they could afford to build the game for years and not scrap it a bunch of times and fire the whole dev team). but they dont, and we're get'n some cod sandwich

    i think we can safely say that FPDR 2 is not going to be real competition to arma. i think that may well improve the game. make it more linear and more actiony like a certain game that was named after a kind of fish....

    so now that we know this, lets just leave FPDR2 alone.

    and our first glimpse of the target renders... seriously, why do they bother? why not just take a few photos and call those "targets"?

  8. if you remember also, alot of the CHDKZ are "not just farmers", but are CDF deserters. alot are professional soldiers. just remember the opening brief of harvest red

    the MEU is there to tip the balance of power in favor of the CDF, not win the war on its own. if things continued to be bad, more marine and army units would probably be moved in until the situation can be brought under control

    BUT we know what actually happened, depending on the ending you get :p


  9. its also a good idea to take a look at the keymapping screen to get an idea of what each key is/can doing. every key is used for something.

    it sounds like the reason you couldnt command is because you were not the leader of the group :p

    some scenarios you are leader, some you are not

    Arma isnt your every day FPS. there is alot more too it.


  10. the OPFOR need some lovin too! screw more BLUFOR stuff

    a russian/tak campaign, new troops (Russians are famous for having uncountable variations in camo, gear and weaponry :P), weapons vics, what ever.

    maybe a new mini expansion with a new scenario thats something like Sri lanka, or African conflicts...

    just not more BLU...
