  1. I voted no to steam. i have never used steam with an arma game (those are hard copies), but steam was obnoxious to use and slowed my system down. I dont like the trend of needing to be online to play single player stuff. its single player, not multiplayer! i am on a laptop and travel frequently, so i am often with out net, so being unable to play a game that i have payed good money for, just because of the internet irritates me. no to steam exclusivity, thank you.

Player moves like a drunken sailor.

here is a tip to help make CQB more enjoyable: DONT RUN ALL THE TIME. this is a problem a friend of mine had. he didnt know how to walk. yeah when you are running the whole time, movement in arma is very annoying. and being difficult to control wile running IS difficult in real life. do a test: run around your house at full speed without hurting your self or breaking things. its hard
  5. 1.57 is for operation arrowhead. you are current with your arma 2

Groin pad soft armor vs 9mm fmj

its nice to know my nut pad will stop a round at least ;) same with the rest of the IOTV as well if you have an extra neck protector as well? i would like to see if those would at least STOP a round (never mind blunt trauma)

Single Player Campaigns - Must Have Mods

i would avoid any AI mods, or other mods that change some core aspect of game play for playing through a campaign. they can cause some irregularities. cosmetic mods are fine though

    Customizable Characters / Camera View

i wasnt tiring to be a dick, that was a valid recommendation. battlefield heros is a great game. (even with out me being a dick, you should try it) and you were suggesting clothing and things like that, so my comment was valid. letting people choose custom things is nice until they inevitably abuse it (the stupid face textures and custom sounds).

    Customizable Characters / Camera View

"character customization" has no place in this game. as others have said, stupid custom faces and sound in multiplayer fuck things up when you want to play a good serious game. it would be worse if people have MORE to screw with if you want to play dress up this should be more to your taste its great success!

    Campain quality in ARMA

because that is what is known as a COUNTERINSURGENCY. asymmetric warfare. not force on force anymore

    Campain quality in ARMA

are you in the military? are you in the combat arms? are you deployed with these guys? if yes to the above, than you have an amazing unit, and i wish to transfer there immediately. i really wish to be in a unit that is made up of RESPONSIBLE ADULTS, and not muscle headed man children

    Campain quality in ARMA

the reason you have such ridiculous odd is simple. reality isnt fun (for most people) in a game. if the engagements in arma were realistic (in the iraq/ afghan war context) you would have a platoon or two worth of men shooting sparatically for 5 hours to get 10 baddies wile taking only a single WIA. and the baddies manage to escape with any WIA or KIA i guess it comes down to the AIs. BIS could make a more timid, life preserving AI that runs and hides more than shoots, but then people would bitch that's its not fun. i dont like the man vrs whole fucking world missions either, but be real here. regarding character development: lets face some uncomfortable facts here: most combat arms dudes are utterly devoid of character. their whole existence can be summed up with the "3 Bs" (booze, boobs, and balls [either their testis, or sport balls/sporting]). other wise known as the "stereotypical soldier guy" (asshole). and any real life "character development" that does occur surly does not happen on the front lines, or wile riding in a chopper to an LZ. it all happens at the chow hall, or in the bay, or in the many hours of mind numbing waiting around for something to happen. all things that we never see in game, simply because they stupendously boring. Do you want to play a mission were you have to go from the tent you are living in to the chow hall, and have a chat with a couple of the guys in your squad about which actresses boobs are the best? or about how much the food you are eating sucks? of about how much you hate your squad leader because he makes you do work? of course not! because its boring! and if they did all you all would just blast it "ZOMG, REAL SOLDIER DONT TALK LEIK THAT LOL" or "TERRIBLE VOCIE ACKTING" or "BOOORRRING". BIS i like what you do. but i do not envy your position :p the one thing i have noticed about BIS campaigns is they seems to be centered around a new tech "gimmick" for example, arma 1. its gimmick was team switch. that campaign suffered because of it arma 2, warfare. the end suffered because of it OA. it appeared to be a technological show case with missions and story added in (showing of the FLIR, the new UAVs etc). EW. well, i would say its very gimmiky, but it uses them to enhance the experience. it was not focused on some new tech or trick, just the story of some poor bastard and the end of the world :) i have not played the BAF or PMC campaigns yet, so i cant accurately assess them, but here are my impressions: it seems people liked the BAF game. there seems to be no major technological gimmick. with no un-needed stuff or technology BIS was able to souly focus on just the story and setting. they could make it flow on its own PMC the gimmick is the new in game video. its aimed directly at delivering story elements and seems to work because of it... so ... yeah. EW like? i would say in the future just avoid centering a whole campaign on a new tech gimmick and just focus on the story, mission progression or what ever.
  13. we really cant bitch that we dont get free stuff now, eh? ;) the campaign is good, right?
  14. i guess they did this to since the campaign is suppose to be 2 player coop. they arent going to force people to buy it to play with thier friends. that should be considered a good thing, no? granted, from what i see, the "bang per buck" in PMC is less than BAF
  15. its probably the 1st mission or two. a teaser those crafty devils
  16. good point .that is probably very true.... shoot:(
  17. 800mb? what the hell is tucked away in there? i cant wait until we see what is in there...
  18. i am looking forward to reading every ones thoughts on the new campaign. wonder who will be the first to blaze through it and post; FIRST! its cool that there are russians in takistan. i wonder what possibilities will arise from all that. i wonder what the terrain is like up in the russian zone, and the US zone (near cherna).

My gaming computer died and I have yet to replace it (dont have OA yet either). i have to wait a couple more months before i can get my arma on.

    Harvest Red multiplayer?

i am curious to know how stable harvest red is now in MP with CO 1.55 can it be done with out glitches and other bugs?
  21. actual real world suppressive fire with a semi auto weapon is one shot every 2-4 seconds (with a 4 man fire team). even less when you have a larger element engaging. suppressive fire is just a friendly reminder that the guys trying to kill you are not on a coffee break... yet :) obviously with MGs its different. its a good idea to have either the team MG OR rifles doing the suppressive work, not both Ai just need to be more "aware" of when rounds are close to hitting them a "break contact" command would be useful. you select the command, and then click where you want your element to fall back too.
  22. i think you misunderstood my post. I was not attacking the voice actors, but trying to point out certain vocal qualities that normal people have, as opposed to those "epic" people in film and other media. i was actually trying to defend the current voices by highlighting the idiocy of some of the reactions to the voice acting (people bitching that they dont sound "epic", or super manly or what ever). so yeah, sarcastic/ironic tone of voice does not transmit well on the 'net :butbut: sorry
  23. waa waa waah get over it. they use REAL people for voice acting. you know, schmoes like us. you know how many people here on this forum dont have movie actor voices? i would be willing to say just about ALL of us. next time you are out side (in the real world) with REAL people, take note of how many of them sound (focus on males in this case). notice that? NOT PROFESSIONAL VOICE ACTORS! they dont all have a deep gravely smooth voice that booms out and smacks you in the face with its reasuredness and manliness. in fact some ADULT males have (by comparative standards) higher pitched voices! HOLY SHIT! the world was just set alight! my biggest problem with the trailer is it seems to (hint at) give away some critical plot points. like since when is there a security contract that ALLOWs for them to fire on the US military? "oh its alright, just shoot that american soldier over-there with our SUV MINIGUN" "thats not in our contract! it don't have the "friendly fire" box ticked on the DDC0234 form!" ZOMG

    Takistani Mi-24

its like why the iraqi army sometimes decides they want to paint their humvee and tanks up with big old flags and such. its a perfectly good humvee, but then the doors and the gunners shield or turret is black white and red. hell, i have seen a couple IA guys who painted thier damn helmets its quite common to paint shit on yo' ride
