I set up this small Laser Marker training mission in the editor inside 2 minutes. (vanilla Comb Ops, Regular difficulty) Place a Man (you), a 'Flying' A-10, and a 'US Army Special Weapons' ammo crate (the orange square) Some crates don't contain a Laser Marker so make sure you place the correct one ('Army') Take the LM out of the crate and go to a good position to look for targets, such as here on top of Vybor chimney (Chernarus map). That's the LM in his hands. Aha! that could be the enemy Secret Police HQ (I've circled it yellow) Note your A-10 patiently orbiting the map waiting to be called in. Click right mouse button to peer through the LM, then click the left mouse button to designate the building as a target. (the green circle confirms the laser is activated) After a short time (it varies) the flyboy will pick up the laser beam and drop an LGB. Scratch one Secret Police HQ.. Don't forget to SWITCH OFF the LM with a left mouse click or he might come back and drop one where you don't want it. And the combining instructions seem a bit too long-winded, I never had to do anything as complex as that. It took me a couple of tries but i muddled through. Basically I installed AA2 first, then installed OA into the AA2 directory- Program files\bohemia interactive\ARMA2 The two simply combined automatically and put a new 'Combined Ops' icon on my desktop for me..:) (Then I patched with 1.57 and it updated AA2 to 1.08 at the same time) PS- After my first failed attempt to combine, I uninstalled AA2 and AO, and also cleaned up the registry so i could make a fresh clean attempt, and it worked. -
I'm vanilla Comb Ops 1.57, life's so easier that way..;) PS- is there any way you can send the mission to me so I can test it?

In your video, this error message briefly came up- "Cannot open object", which might mean your mission was flawed in some way, therefore it's not a reliable test. Delete the mission and the video from your system and create another one.

Are speed readouts in mph or km/h?

Thanks, what a hassle, my brain is only calibrated in good old British miles per hour, and all this Euro kmh stuff means zilch to me! So with the aid of this chart- http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/ccspeed.htm I've come up with a few reference figures that I can understand- A-10 cruise (hunting) spd:- 560 kmh = 348 mph UH-60 Blackhawk max spd:- 293 kmh = 182 mph Abrams max spd:- 72 kmh = 45 mph 100metres sprint world record (Usain Bolt):- 38 kmh = 24 mph PS:- And what about height readouts in AA2/OA, are they in good old feet or (groan) metres? -
WHOA don't jump to conclusions! I watched the video and it seems the squad were happily engaging an enemy machine gun, so when you ordered them to regroup on you, they preferred dealing with the MG first rather than make themselves easy targets by running up to join you. In real life they'd have shouted something like "Sorry sir, we're pinned by an MG and can't rejoin you just yet, wait til we've taken it out"

Beats me why they want to use pistols anyway, rifles are better..:)

Vehs and AFVs have two speeds-'Ahead' and 'Ahead Fast', also there are several ways to control speed (joystick/keys/arrow keys, as commander or driver etc) but whatever method you use you should see the words 'Ahead Fast' appearing on screen and hear a voice saying them out of your speakers. I've never noticed any speed problems with AA2/OA tanks, but my main gripe is that when you order your tank formation to stop, some pivot when jamming on their brakes, and come to a stop presenting their weaker side or rear armour to the enemy.

Could be. Please list the advantages/disadvantages of Steam to put us all in the picture..:) (the bottom line seems to be do we really NEED steam?) -
That's never happened to me. Is it a mission? I'd like to test it out. Just a guess, but orders like 'Stealth',' Danger',' Aware' etc might have something to do with it.

You can't beat solid boxed disks in your hands because you know where you are with them. I've got store-bought AA2 and OA on separate disks, and combined them into Comb Ops. Like I always say- disks are forever but downloads are only until your next PC crash. For example I bought Virtual Sailor by download a while back, then later my PC crashed and when I asked for a free replacement d/load I was told "sorry, you'll have to pay again" Catch my drift? -

My only experience with Steam was a year or two ago when I bought a game (can't remember which one) and had to go through Steam to get it working properly, it was quite a hassle, maybe I was just too PC-illiterate I dunno. But ever since, if I've heard that a new game requires Steam, i've tended to avoid it and move on somewhere else.. -
Thanks, I could have sworn I dragged the weather slider all the way to the left in a previous test but I must have botched it, so here goes again. You're right, full left weather, midnight, and no stars at all. Suddenly I'm....afraid... Next test:- this time I've only dragged the slider to halfway, and navigation will be a lot easier because it gives a mix of clouds, stars and even the moon! It's just you and me again bro.. However, this daytime test below was spooky because even with full left weather and an overcast midday sky, i still cast a shadow! Suddenly I'm afraid again! Yes that'd certainly add a challenge, but we also need to get rid of the sun and stars in AA2 to make it a real challenge. But I don't know how to do that, so my attempts to create an AA2 nav exercise keep going dead in the water..

What mission are you playing? Are you in the commanders position or the gunners position? Try this- Go to the gunners position. He has Sabot (top right). Click your mouse wheel and select 'Reload HE rounds'- The ammo will change to HE- (You can go back to the commanders position now) Later, if you want Sabot again, go to Gunners position, click mouse wheel and select 'Reload Sabot'- You can now go back to commanders position..:) -
Yes in fact it's too easy, all we need is a compass and map, then simply make our way to where we want to go by following landmarks and roads etc..:) To make it more of a challenge in AA2 we have to do things like throw away the compass, or do it by night etc, but even then we can use the sun and stars. I've tried setting overcast bad weather to blank them out and make things harder but they still show through.

I used to get occasional screen freezes and had to switch off at the electric socket and reboot my PC. Then after I patched to 1.57, i still get freezes, but not so many..:)

Vanilla Comb Ops 1.08/1.57- Hit 'Space' to light up the squads icons along bottom left of the screen and hit '7' on the main keyboard. Piece o' cake! A list of stance orders will come up on the left, so just select the one you want (eg 'Prone') and the boys will drop prone..:) Hit 'Z' to make yourself drop prone too. PS- to change formations, hit Space and 8 -
