  1. BIS games have always been poor at CQB, and this of course includes OFP. To say that OFP is good, or even merely better than ArmA1/2 at CQB seems bizarre to me. In matters of player control, ArmA2 is pretty similar to OFP.

we had a big CTF-Comunity before.. A lot of people were playin DM also, we played it before Clanwars.. I remember all the clans ([Mafia], {MOD}, {-SOD-}, DDz, FEAR, {ACE}, MMN, [MoM], #DK#, [FLS], [GGX], [HIS], [NHS], {USI}, {RS}, [MCY], ARMY, [RN], [OWM], NASF, [DFA], UKA, [=SFG=], [LBB], [iEF], [ETA], [TPC], =SA=, NPE, SAS, [sBS], BoP, [sWEC], AAF, [CSF], [POR], =USA=.)

    ..where are they now?

  2. OFP1 is still better then arma/arma2 for the following reasons:

-sp: campaign was much more emotional. You just felt like "you are Troska"

-mp: controls/movement (for me the most important reason)

=> In arma u cant play CQB.. the changes (movement) wich have been done are a step backward.. now your reaction in cqb-situations is much 2 slow compared to real-life.. i'm not talking about how it is to run 2km with full-gear (in this matter it might feel realistic)..

The G A M E P L A Y wich is the most important thing isnt good at CQB-Situations.. People are camping for the reason of bad controls, not for the reason of "beeing at war"

  3. Anth;1363334']You wont find much pvp in arma 2 im afraid its made more towards co-op. I wouldent recommend people to buy this game if they are after ctf' date=' c&h etc the anims just wont work for it. There just to clunky to use.[/quote']

..this is one of those players (clans) who left the series when arma1 came out.. same for me (GGX John) .. hi anth :-D

ofp had much better animations (it wasnt bf or cs-like) .. but it was possible to react / aim faster .. ctf was fun

  4. Hi thomas82

There are CQB missions. They can be and are part of any mission. If you mean emprisoned type missions where you run around the same 4 coriddors getting shot and respawning ad infinitum ala COD; you can make one and run a server with it on but not many people will play it for long its kinda old fashioned and boring after half an hour.

Most people came to OFP, ArmA I and ArmA II to get away from those prisons for the mind. Why play on a postage stamp when you can play on a giant island?

And its missions not maps in ArmA, a map is the thing that describes an islands in ArmA.

But getting back to real topic which is this mouse issue. Since I and the vast majority of ArmA players do not suffer it, it must be a hardware related issue. I am not saying it does not exist, it is just it seems to be some nutty mouse setting you have, or a harware clash. So can you post up some videos plus your specs and where you bought your version of ArmA what version it is etc, then people can help you deal with solving it.

    Kind Regards walker

u dont see people playin cqb-missions because its not fun.. i played ofp since beginning.. the hole clan stopped playin when arma1 with its great movement/aiming came out..

  5. the movement of arma2 might be good and realistic in open fields.. but it looses the realistic aspect when u're movin inside towns.. the soldier you are controling feels too heavy.. as if he walked 50km before.. some call it "robotic" ..

I WAS HAPPY WITH THE OFP MOVEMENT!!! 1000s OF OFP FANS FEELIN THE SAME WAY I DO!!! (those fans who left the series when arma1 came out only because of the new movement-model) IN OFP IT WAS POSSIBLE TO PLAY CQB!!!

nobody is talkin from cod! ;-)

now in arma2 it looks much better then in arma1.. and i have still hope that the big ctf-community is finding the way back..

  6. I'm absolutely with u!

in the original ofp many people played CTF / C&H / CQB-maps / DM ..

OFP was nice for CTF's! That changed with ARMA1, and thats why u see only koop / cti players left in the servers.. :-)

with ARMA2 it looks better.. some things needs to be fixed:

    - the movement-bug (see ctf-people thread in suggestions section)

    - better performance (to make the aiming / moving more fluent)

    - FSAA against "pixel-war" => should be easier to spot enemies then

    - graphics bugs like flickering textures (all the things that people allready described)

in the current version u can play ARMA2 only over big distances (big maps)

for me its a must to make it enjoyable on small maps aswell.

While other people want more and more animations - we want the controls to be more easy, faster reaction, all for a better gameplay

I hope BIS will satisfy us aswell in this question

  7. most important thing for me is:

    1. the movement - bug wich i described in the ctf people thread (suggestions)

soldier goes sometimes to safety-mode (weapon down) without wanting it..

=> this is dramatic in smaller fights (PvP)

    2. Performance optimization

=> performance is equal to how agile the soldier is (movement / aiming)

    3. FSAA

=> makes it easier to spot enemies and will be a big plus for gameplay

    here's a picture to compare 100% and 200% Fillrate:

  8. i've tested your control-settings.. it might be better if i get used to it..

my biggest wish for improvement is:

    1 right-mousebutton-click = ironsight + zoomed in

..i guess i found out why the weapon is going to safe-mode..

=> go crouch, then sprint, move right/left while sprinting, press the "go crouch" key while sprinting => soldier goes crouch and weapon is in safemode.. that makes u feel like u dont have the power over the controls..

  9. Hi

I was one of the CTF and C&H fans back in ofp-times..

My suggestion for ARMA2 is quiet simple.. make the control of movement less complex (like it was in ofp) to get the CTF People back. I'm an owner of

ARMA2 and tested it quiet a lot.. made a CTF map aswell..

To make CTF beeing fun 2 things should change (in my point of view)

    Movement:

    - lets say u are in crouch-postion now. Then u start sprinting, after stop of sprint u should be back in crouch-position (like it was in ofp).

    - Sometimes it happens that you have to press left-mouse-button to get your weapon back in normal position (after sprinting) ..

example: you are sprinting to a house and then u see an enemy 150m away, the control looks like this: sprinting, stop sprint, left mousebutton (to get weapon in position), right mouse button (ironsight), 2nd time right-mousebutton (zoom), left mousebutton (shooting) ... takes way too long .. the effect is, people are camping more coz u cant react fast..

-how smooth, precise and fast your aiming is, is a question of fps.. guess this will be "fixed" with performance improvements of following patches..

    Ironsight:

    - I like the speed from "normal view" to iron-sight after pressing the right mouse-button.. but the iron-sight is way to small. it looks like the eye is like 0.5 m away from the korn.. in ofp u had something like a 1.5x zoom when switchin to ironsight.. thats another reason why ctf was enjoyable.

I think most of the things are different, because u have so many possibilities of control..

My suggestion would not harm any other game-mode in arma2 (cti, coop, etc.) We would just get the CTF-People back to ARMA2. And i would love to see that.

  10. v-sync on in the nvidia-options doesnt help..

the movement is way too complex.. it should be more ctf/dm friendly. When u stop moving after sprinting sometimes your gun is back in position sometimes u have to press left-mousebutton to get the gun right.. and that takes too much time and makes ctf or dm not fun at all..

a better, more easy, faster control of arma2 would not effect the coop or c&h people.. it would just get the CTF-community back..
