  1. Oh hey, Hitman... *coughs*
  2. I'd gladly do that, haha, but I doubt there's anyway I can get machinima to accept my video. Not a lot of people even know what ArmA 2 is in the mainstream gaming community... Besides, when you upload something to Machinima, you must remove it from your channel, as it becomes a machinima exclusive. I don't want to do that =\ Thanks again everyone!
  3. Wow, thanks a lot everyone. I didn't even expect such comments.
  4. The clouds is the NIM Weather Mod. The smoke is JTD Fire and Smoke. Both can be found on armaholic. :)
  5. Thanks, but I'm not heading too far. I never said this is my last ArmA 2 video, you know, this is just my last for possibly a very long time. I am in fact moving onto learning to make heavily scripted machinima with CryEngine 2. The reason to this isn't to permanently switch but I will be making a big project over the summer with it, so I have to start learning now, etc. But I promise you I will come back and make more ArmA 2 videos in time.
  6. Saw the video. Would be good if he actually made a nuke, I have a really good mod for it. But then again it worked pretty good with the black screen. I got my own new video coming up in a few hours, it's the best one I've ever made I think? Im having a hard time judging because I've worked on it so much I just know every bit and shot and all of that so it's hard for me to say if it's good or not. Either way it's a product of my imagination, nearly half of the shots in the video I originally imagined the first time I listened to the song, and now recreated in video form. This is what I love about making movies! Coming in a couple of hours. UPDATE!: I present to you my newest original video - what I call the "product of my imagination" - ArmA 2 - Flight of Thunder! Read the youtube descrption to find out more what I mean by that. LN0goAEzS4I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN0goAEzS4I Please click the link and watch in HD though! It's worth it! This is a very important video to me, so I really hope you guys take a look and watch, so enjoy, and I hope you like it!
  7. Alright, big OT over, now let's get back to posting videos. I have a new one coming up soon - and it is going to be really good. The best one I have ever made, so watch out for a good watch sometime soon!
  8. Yeah I saw this too. They only have an older english version for ArmA 1 and it focuses on making camera in cinematics... I'll try to look through it anyway but if anyone can help, please do.
  9. This is something Norrin told me in a thread I posted some time back about following a plane with a camera: I never used it as sent me another script, which I used for this video - but I can only use that when an AI is in the plane. I can't use it when I'm in it, let alone control the plane while in the camera mode. Someone please help, I really need to get a response today...

    Polish President dead

I was really sad and shocked when I heard this. I can't believe they just lost their whole upper tier of government in a single plane crash. That's just awful... I hope things work out for Poland. :'(
  11. Yeah I did google it and I found that but I didn't understand what it had to do with computers and overclocking. And also my friend says that the reason overclocking helps you so much is because you're using i5s/i7s - apparently for my quad core it won't do as much I'm still not sure why he's saying that though.
  12. Thanks a lot Forte. I've been working on my plane video right now - and so far I've gotten pretty far, in fact, all of those view distance scenes are past me now. Now it's the combat scenes - and when I make a battle on the ground, my FPS, both play and record are below 10. I even used a thing called gameboost to turn off unnecessary processes, disabled my 2nd monitor, and play on 1280x720 resolution both interface and 3d. That's going to be a big problem and I'll try to find ways to film it anyway, so far I've done a good job, but this is a huge challenge. Maybe overclocking will work but that will take a very long time and lots of tries and of course for the fan to actually get here etc, and I want to finish this video by the end of next weekend. I'll keep trying for now, I guess if there's absolutely no way I can film my scenes (some I film by filming in slow motion and then speeding up in Vegas, etc), then I'll look back to overclocking again, I guess, since that'll be my only option. But until I finish this video I will never be at rest... Thanks for all the help so far everyone. Edit: here's some stills from the video :p 1 - 2 - 3
  13. What IS SETI? I wasn't sure what he kept going on about being SETI in that article. Leon, how do I record to a ramdisk? Oh and yeah, I did try out recording at 1280x720 - it did increase my FPS, actually, to maybe about 27 or so, but again I was standing on the coast of a river overlooking it and on the other side there were some islands and some trees so it wasn't that much to render, I think once I turned around and ran back into the forest it dropped to maybe 16-19 fps (but I can slightly adjust that with some setting changes I guess). I've been told that unless you increase the voltages and timing of your processor, you wouldn't really get any speed increase, and if you try doing that it will likely render my CPU extremely unstable and will fry it. So he said if I simply put my CPU to 3.6 GHz or so, it really wouldn't do much for me and barely increase my FPS and I'll only waste my money on a heatsink. So I'm completely confused, I was myself surprised when he said that (then why the hell does anyone overclock?), but I listen to everyone and take everyone's suggestions into account, which is why I'm asking if maybe you guys know what led him to say that.
  14. Yeah I know it's been answered but I wanted to re-ask again for confirmation, it's the last thing I can really upgrade that will be of any significance I think, as right now my main problem is the recording FPS, while playing FPS is generally fixed. SeaVee - I have to take out the motherboard to put in that case? Ah, so that's what that Artic Freezer review was about, some guy was saying how glad he was that fan didn't need him to take it out. Thankfully however my case has a back panel that I can open, so if there's anything I need to put behind the motherboard I can do it easily... Do you think the Zalman is better than this? It seems good too, don't know if it's as good, but definitely cheaper, and also someone mentioned having it earlier in this thread. This is the one I said that doesn't require you to take out your motherboard, according to that review. EDIT: Hmm, according to this article overclocking doesn't actually do anything, and one way I could actually increase my FPS is to buy a Q9650... which is 3.0 GHz. Now you think you can bump your speed dramatically over that even with my CPU, using overclocking, but apparently that doesn't actually increase your speed. In fact I'm not even quite sure what it does... Was talking to an expert friend about this earlier, he showed me the article. So basically, I've wasted 310 dollars on a CPU and a hard drive while all I had to do was spent 20 extra dollars to get a $330 Q9650 and be off with it. Of course I couldn't have seen that coming back then, but still pretty stupid. I guess I'm stuck with this now. Fail
  15. You know right now I actually bumped my playing FPS to a pretty good amount. I recently realized that my FPS now lowers dramatically mostly when recording, and it doesn't go much about 22-25. So it's like something is limiting fraps specifically. A friend told me it's my CPU speed, which is 2.83 GHz. Is that true? If I overclock to 3.6-4.0 GHz, would it increase my FPS? I'm also getting similar problems in Crysis. Playing FPS is good, sometimes great, but the recording is just about as low.
  16. Wow, thats very nice! I mean the fact is how cheap your cooler is. My friend recommended me this cooler. What do you think?
  17. Well yeah, that kind of sounds like something that will fill in the gap now, after I figured out my dual monitor thing. Don't really feel like OCing with stock fan... I don't want it to run too hot. After buying that hard drive I'm on a tighter budget now, so we'll see.
  18. very nice. I commented on your video, what is the camera script did you use to attach it to the plane?
  19. I just realized a huge problem: I'm running dual monitors! How could I forget that. I got used to them so much I completely forgot. Anyway, I disabled my 2nd monitor. The FPS increase was pretty good. On default high settings, I got 26 FPS before and 30 FPS after disabling the 2nd monitor. When I tested my scene of the movie I want to make, which is view distance heavy, it was actually not bad. First, the FPS did increase greatly, despite the 7k view distance I put on, however then I realized it was because I was zooming in on the plane a lot. When I zoomed back out and a lot more of the land came into view, the FPS lowered, drastically. However, the zooming I could keep up with, not all the time of course. Either way I'm still not 100% satisfied; First I'm still confused about my RAM issue and if it could affect ArmA 2, second, recording still cuts my FPS in half. To be honest, with the heavy zooming I get about 20 FPS when recording, which is ok. But who knows, there may be some scenes that won't cut it... For example, I'll be using a camera script that attaches the camera to the plane when I need to follow it efficiently, but that camera script is not very good and it doesn't allow zooming in/out. And I still didn't overclock my processor of course. Further advice?
  20. Yeah I know about that. But it's not exactly comfortable for 2 reasons: 1) It'll take much longer and will be much more annoying to make a movie with this method 2) There will still be annoying stutters, as even when the game is slowed down it still skips frames. A plane for example, isn't gonna fly smoothly. And even if it's sped up, you'll still be able to see it. Maybe not it exactly, but you'll notice something isn't right with the video. I just realized CPUZ displays my RAM as single channel. I have 4 sticks, they're slightly different (like different brands I think). I took a picture, here. Anyone know how I can make it normal, as in dual channel? Also bangtail what do you mean by bullheaded?
  21. No... But my OS isn't running on an IDE drive. It's running on a 40 GB 7200RPM SATA drive. So you're telling me that if I overclock my processor from 2.83 ghz to like 3.6 ghz it won't help me? If so, then I'm leaving this game.
  22. Eh... I want to curse ArmA 2 out right now. Honestly, I don't know what to say. I just put in my new hard drive. On Benchmark 1, the FPS was... 1 frame lower. WTF?! View distance 4303, everything on high. Benchmarked it on my old drive, FPS was 18. Uninstalled ArmA 2, reinstalled it on the new hard drive, FPS is 17. WHAT?! Honestly, I'm tired of this. I'm still going to buy a new fan, most likely, but probably not for ArmA 2 anymore. I'm just going to leave and go to cryengine or something, and make machinimas with that. I've spent hundreds of dollars trying to upgrade my FPS. All I got was slight improvement thanks to the processor, then I spent 70 more dollars and I get 1 FPS less. Bohemia, you're great for making this game, but please, next time, f*cking optimize it for once. I honestly don't know what to do now, I've done everything possible (except for overclocking, but there is supposed to be at LEAST a few FPS improvement because of the hard drive). Screw this. Edit: I dont know, should I buy a new heatsink? I know my processor is currently at a 2.83 ghz speed and I know that isn't really that great for ArmA 2. Maybe that's what's bottlenecking me this time? I was planning to overclock it to 3.6 ghz or so. Do you guys think that will have a big effect on my FPS? Or is it once again just going to bump it up to like 2 more FPS and that's it? I honestly don't even know what to expect from ArmA 2 anymore, even though I knew that the hard drive alone wouldn't do much, I was expecting at least some improvement.
