  1. I'm still looking for my perfect sidekick.

For now I play a lot with DMR, M24 (distance) and M4A1 ACOG (close combat) but whenever I find an SVD or Vintorez on the enemy I will take it. I had some bloody hard times with the SPR the other day, hits showed blood but after 10 or more hits the enemy would still survive so either the weapon isn't effective at 800m range or there was enormous lag.

Barrett was my fav in Delta Force days but it hasn't had much use for me in Arma (big hit on loadout slots too)

  2. I just had a weird experience with AA. I'm still tweaking the game to best FPS/Quality ratio and thought I had a go with AA.

Here's what happend when I looked through the scope at a hangar:

    AA Disabled 31 FPS

    AA Low 43 FPS

    AA Normal 43 FPS

    AA High 43 FPS

    AA Very High 41 FPS

    AA 5 38 FPS

    AA 6 32 FPS

    AA 7 35 FPS

    AA 8 30 FPS

When looking at other buildings or places the FPS seems to be better when disabled (need more testing)

    Here's proof from screenshots: http://img124.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=82929243.png

  3. Hi all,

I've asked this question a lot while enjoying MP and came to the conclusion that a lot (if not all) play without grass and default (900 or 1500m) view distance.

Some didn't even know they could set the grass and view distance and others just need the performance or the non abstructive view.

Just in case you can set your grass and view distance in options/settings menu inside Show status (backspace menu) or "T" key.

I like the way grass looks and think is part of beautifull GFX Arma 2 has (compared to Arma 1) but I'm starting to play without it because the enemy AI does not react to the grass at all which puts you in a big disadvantage.

I keep my view distance in SP and MP at 3000m for now.

    Thx for your input

  4. No wonder everyone plays without grass in MP Coop games, AI has advantage over you.

It looks like an aged game without the grass but it puts you on the same level as the AI.

Too bad though, especialy for snipers. I always keep my distance though (go wide n flank) so luckely AI doesnt see me until they get close.

  5. - Ping is ok (16-32)

    - GFX Very Low or Very High, same issue

    - FPS are fine (+35)

    - My conn = 3MBps Down / 128 KBps UP

Moving objects like soldiers, vehicles, planes seem to stutter, skip frames or lag, whatever you call it.

Is this a connection issue (lag) or?

Game runs fine besides that but it makes it hard to hit targets, especialy if you are into sniping. Personaly I would think it's server lag or a connection to server issue.

Examples I have found on Youtube:

Could you please post your PC specs (like in my signature) so BIS can use it as a guide to fix this problem.

  6. I would like to see all the PP effects go except the DOF with scopes and binoculars.

Bloom and blur makes it look like an arcade game (Crysis) and DOF is ok but too near.

I don't know why you guys think the blur is realistic, it only brings headaches. If your sight blurs and wobbles (I also adjusted this a few notches down) like that you are either drunk or disabled.

    Later ;)

  7. Ok, to clear things up here:

    - Shadows at high vs normal gives same framerate but lags a tad more.

    - Object Detail at high vs normal is +5 FPS down and lags a lot more (worst option to turn up actualy)

So if you do want to tune a setting then use shadows.

The better FPS people mention is actualy having the same or slightly (1 FPS or so) better FPS but what they don't test thoroughly is the lag they get with it (render lag)

The mouse seem to respond better but the background rendering actualy has a harder time keeping up.

Hopefully that made sence and got the "Higher is better" placebo talk out of the way.
